A little less than one year ago, I posted this to a few communities on lj:

I know that a lot of you only make items for yourselves, or usually make items to sell, but I have a request. I need paper cards, postcards, little felted cards, small books, pressed flowers, etc, etc, etc. Wait! Don't stop reading! I'm not exactly just asking for a handout. I have good reason... )

So many of you responded that I ended up making a community to post about Grandma's progress and how things have been going. It was also a place where I could thank all of you for everything you've done.

In less than two weeks it will be one year since my Grandmother quit smoking.

If you guys have time, I'd love it if you could read the most recent entry there and consider sending a card to my grandmother and/or grandfather. It would mean so much to me and them, as well. Thank you all so much for everything you've already done and in advance to those of you who end up sending something to them.

Thanks,
"Pooh"

i have a quick question :)

how would i go about applying thread/yarn/string to a canvas or paper like it is done at the bottom in this picture?
cliiiick )

where it is all bunched up? because i guess it cant be glue, because then how would all the bunches of string stay together while not being hard and coated in glue? at first i was thinking spray adhesive but i think even that would make it seem coated in something while this string looks completely "naked" haha. help please! :) thanks so much in advance!

So I was just wonder what kind of glue and sealant would work best to put glitter on a hat. Sorry if my question is stupid or anything.
But thanks in advance for any responses :]
I know I posted this yesterday but I just want to make it a little more clear. The hat I'm working with is a 100% acrylic fitted hat like the one below. And I want to put glitter on it, but I don't want all the glitter to come off.

One of you lovelies posted a purse made of folded plastic bags. I really liked the idea of recycling bags into more resusable bags so this is my result. I did my bag differently, but I think it works.

I hope you like it.

After posting my silly project of the day I have a genuine question.

My beloved Grandma passed away and I recieved about 100-200 yards of vintage wool fabric. Most of it in plaids and houndstooth patterns. The wool is in surprisingly good condition considering its age (much of it was probably purchased in the 1960s and 70s.

Here is my issue. I live in a warm climate (it is about 80 today), and have little need for woolen clothing or blankets. Nor does anyone I know. So what in the heck do I do with all this wool. I hate to part with it because it was my Grandmothers.

If anyone has ideas for all this fabric I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I recently acquired a sewing machine. I haven't used one since I was a teenager, so it has been awhile. After alot of cursing and fumbling, I made this---

I've been really lazy and non-productive lately. I do, however, have a ton of things that I've made over the past year or so that I took pictures of and never posted. I thought I'd finally share some of those while I try motivate myself to make something new.

Bags! )
