For those who remember me...I only have ONE frame pendant necklace to show this time around, but I'm working on some more - they'll be mostly collage-style. [I'll post those when they're completed if anyone's interested]

For now...I have some cute necklaces and 2 pairs of earrings I can show ya. I've been doing these while watching episodes of Wonderfalls [anyone know the show?] I wish it hadn't been cancelled! Ack!

Anyway... have a peek at the goods...erhm..jewelry... )

So I'm an earring girl, but I had some charms in odd numbers and decided to make them into necklaces. Here is my journey into necklace land:

I used construction paper as a base for the top part but regular paper for the brim so I could make it curve a little. The whole thing is covered in bright lime green tape (can you tell I have a thing for lime?) but I found this awesome clover stretch fabric and decided to wrap it in that.

Does anyone have the link to the ebay guy who sells the really good button makers for like $200? With about 1,000 pieces I think...I can't find the link anywhere!

Also, I'm doing a craft show in April, and my main squeeze is beading...but it's an 8ft table...I need something else to dabble in also...what do you sell at craft fairs? (No links please, I don't want to break the rules!)

do you remember those butterflies you used to be able to get at Hallmark so that when you opened your card it would jump out and kind of flutter in the air?

i've heard they're discontinued but i was wondering if anyone knew how to make them yourself. i imagine it would take an elastic band, maybe a paperclip, paper (duh), and some creativity. any ideas or experience you could share?

This isn't the coolest thing ever, but a fun discovery anyway--

I took some of that art glass stuff, you know, the flattened marble things that you buy to fill vases with and put in the bottom of your fishtanks?  Yeah.  Anyway,  I had big ones and little ones and oddly shaped long-ish ones and arranged them in circles in my kiln and let them fuse.    The biggest ones came out awesome and look just like flowers, the smaller round ones are coolish (you can see one in the lower right of the picture), but I was much disappointed in the oddly shaped longish ones (on the right with the square hole).  I won't bother with those again.   Anyway, I think I will use the big flower ones as center strikers for wind chimes.  Hm.  They would make pretty cute inlays for cement garden stepping stones too, decorations for faerie houses...

Nothing special...Just a tote I made. It is huge. I did not intend it to come out soooo...BIG!
I made this for a girl that got flaked on in the Skull Swap we just did on Craftster. I think she will like it.
Plus, various other sewed things I have done lately..

I'd like to decorate some t-shirts and diapers to match. I've got procion dyes to dye them and jacuard textile paints to embellish the dyed clothes. I was planning to tub dye them for a nice even solid color then paint over that, topped by painting with freezer paper for stencils, at least to start with. However, I'm open to other ideas as I'm not going for a specific finished product, as this is just a stress relief project for me.

I was showing some adorable t-shirt and longies sets to my mother. The shirts had been purchased and the longies decorated to match, then sold as a set. She pointed out that this was probably not legal and that they could be sued. Any idea if this is correct?

Edit: The thought process I was having was to wonder if that is illegal, of I used purchased fabric to applique one of a set of two items, then painted the other to match, would that also be illegal?

My mother who is a scrapbooking instructor at Michael's craft store, came home from work today with a heavy heart.

Michaels' is doing away with their classes:
Polymer clay, painting, Bob Ross, Beading, knitting, knifty knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, and more!

Corporate's projects, which happen to come packaged nicely in "kits," are taking place of the unique creativity of individual instructors.
If you had a kid's birthday party scheduled, too bad. They are canceling them as well.

Previously, the classes were created by the instructors, and they were driven by a comission-based system.
They are now getting rid of the instructors and replacing them with corporate sponsored make-n-takes premiering this fall.

Good news! Michael's is keeping the Wilton cake-decorating classes. Anybody ever looked at Wilton products, knows how much money those classes bring in!

This is all sudden too. The classes that are already scheduled, are being canceled. Just last night, my mother and I spent a long time working on coming up with projects for her to teach in April.
Now nobody is going to have a chance to create the fantastic scrapbook layouts, explosion box, altered clipboard, and "mom & me" paper bag album this planned for this April at our local Michaels.

I was never a big fan of Michael's products, but now I have even more of a reason to spend my craft budget at JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby.

In case anybody would like to contact Michaels, feel free to e-mail customer service Here.

Alright my beloved angelcakefaces. I have a question: Has anyone here heard of Big Cartel? If so, how is it in comparison to Etsy? I'm not linking you to Etsy. If you don't know how to get there by now, you fail at life. -5 zillion internet cookies for you.

Just so it's not text only:

Faerie wings. They are huge, three feet wide. I made them, hung-over, the morning of my university graduation. Naturally, I wore them to the ceremony. That was a logistics nightmare let me tell you. :DDDDDD They are actually pretty crappy in comparison to my other two sets, but they were well received so I cannot complain.

Could someone recommend me some pattern software for dressmaking? Preferably something I could download for free, but I'm still interested in hearing about stuff to buy.
Thanks! x

I have been busy making stuff, while I'm somewhat trapped in my house. (I'm still in mourning from the passing of my truck.) At least I'm productive and don't get sucked into watching Bravo or the Comedy Channel all the time. But I digress.

I finally set some time aside and made some more sock creatures (I was completely out). They all have their own name tag button so you won't forget their name. From left to right, we have Gertie LaVache, Juan McSnazzy Pants, Haley Dubois, and Fabrizio Malone. They are all made from socks (hence the name sock creatures) and a whole lot of love.

Fun times in crafting...

Yesterday, my friends and I were shopping for a birthday present for a party last night, so of course...we decided to all meet in a sex toy shop in the area of the city known for gay nightclubs. I was walking down the street, like twenty minutes early, so I duck into a sewing shop. I talked myself out of buying everything really neat, but I did need a new embroidery hoop, so I got a 6 inch purple plastic one, said I didn't need a bag, and continued along my merry way.

I stood there in the book section of the sex store, and every time someone walked anywhere near me, they'd look at me strangely for a few minutes, then move away. It was...a little weird. Finally, my friend shows up, and she does the same thing...stares at me. I kinda go "What?" and she points at the purple plastic in my hand and replies, "How the hell do you use that one???" *headdeskheaddesk* Apparently...not that many people use embroidery hoops, or at least not enough to recognize one in that sort of context. Even the gal behind the desk said, "We don't sell those, do we?"

Awkward.

Anyway...

To make it at least a semi-legitimate post, I've been having problems. I'm trying to sew a little teeny felt fish, and I can't seem to get the last part. I sewed him right-sides in for most the way, successfully turned him inside out with his splendid fins intact, but I can't seem to get the rest of it done...it just sticks out so weirdly I'm afraid to sew it. How do you finish sewing teeny felt things?
