I found some fabric that I want to stretch onto canvas so the white walls in the apartment I'm moving into won't be completely bland. I can't decide if I should do one large canvas or four smaller (like 16 in x 16 in) canvases, though. I spent literally 15 minutes just standing in front of all of the canvases at Michael's yesterday and I couldn't decide which would look better. I have 2 and a half yards of the fabric, by the way. Any advice or other ideas?

Here is what the fabric looks like:

Okay, so. I have a whole bunch of those little tile sample things that you can take from Home Depot. A few years back when my parents were remodeling the bathroom, I would swipe a few every time we went to the store, thinking that I could find something cool to do with them. I haven't yet, so I was wondering if anyone had some ideas?(: I'd be oh so appreciative.

As you can see, I have quite a few of them, but I'm completely stumped on what to actually do with them.

And so this entry isn't COMPLETELY lame...

This is an experiment I decided to try, I guess this is double knitting? I'm not sure. I got the idea from this page, though I don't really want to do stars. If you were a Dallas Cowboys fan, I could see it in Blue and Silver, though. Anyway, I thought I'd do something simple, like stripes. But here's the problem - I kinda like it. Why is that a problem? Because that's the only skein of that peach yarn I have. And it's from YEARS ago, so no getting more.

picture under here! )

So these are the things I've thought of doing.

A) Give it up now, cut your losses and move on
B) Make it square and have a GIANT potholder
C) Buy another complimentary color yarn and randomly switch it with the peach
D) Buy several complimentary yarns and switch them with the peach
E) Buy several complimentary yarns and switch them with the peach and the white
F) Other, please explain

Not that I'll be doing much knitting anytime soon, I was working on my giant needles last night and had to stop every row to massage my wrist. :/

Speaking of the giant needles... )

hey everyone!
I adore making the shrinks but I have this little problem. I use part of a paper bag to bake my shrinkies in the toaster oven and I have a lot of trouble with the paper burning!  Do you use paper bag or something else to bake them on? do you put it directly on the wire rack, or on one of the metal trays? other possible suggestions?
thank you!!!

I've seen people make some amazing jewelry and all sorts of things with Shrinky Dinks. I am absolutely dying to do this...my question is, where do I get that paper and what is it called? I'm sure that Michaels or AC Moore probably have it, but I just want to make sure before I run around town tracking this stuff down.

TIA! :)

The subject of recycling came up the other day... So I thought you all might enjoy this project.
Recycled Handbag )
My friend asked me to make her a bag with her old jean jacket... I like how it came out. Recycling clothes makes me happy.

I used this 1960s vintage beaded chain, and added a bunny pendant that I put together... the end result:

I've got an altoid tin and I'm ready to make my husband a (shhhh, secret) pocket shrine for Father's Day.

Thing is, I've never made one before.
I've read the FAQ and memories, I've checked out the community specifically for pocket shrines, but I want a favor from you lovelies...

would you please post pictures of your pocket shrines?

I just need a little inspiration for ideas to make it really great.

I know I want it to revolve around the "family" theme, especially our kid, but any ideas would be helpful. Even if you just give a little helpful advice or comment only to show off the ones you've made. I'd love it.

Please and thank you ahead of time.
