I wanted to make some t-shirts for when we go to see John Barrowman (Capt. Jack from Torchwood) in Robin Hood in Jan. I'm terrible at painting faces so I did a glass transfer - (glass over a photo, outline in fabric paint and transfer that to the material). I think they turned out pretty good. I did 7 total and only messed up on one!

I made a little tutorial on how I make dolls. ^__^ I thought I might share it with y'all as I so love reading all y'all's posts!

this is Frigg. she's my part of the goddess craft swap on the bpal forums. I made her for a lovely lady who has graciously granted me the use of her picture. yay! I love pictures of my critters in their new homes. ^___^

I made a tutorial of how I made her in my flikr account:

I took pictures of pretty much every important step to create a doll from foil and wire to sculpey and leather. ^_^ Due to circumstances, she was created on solstice this year during a very nice, sunny and fabulous day. ^__^

I love how she just matches her spot in her new home! It was completely unintentional. :D yay!

The tutorial starts here.

Well I was all excited because I bought some great fabrics yesterday and set to work on a lovely pattern for a lunch bag.

It didn't take me to terribly long. A few hours to cut out and machine sew everything, and that was even after screwing up the first lining.

I just finished it and realized it's really small. It only has a hight of about 4" for the contents to go in. basically it will fit one sandwich container OR my soup thermos OR or some yogurt and fruit but it will only fit one at a time and working a manual labor job I feel I will Probably eat at least a sandwich AND a piece of fruit for lunch for heavens sakes.

So now I have this sort of cloth basket about 4" high and 6" wide and I haven't the foggiest what to do with it. It's insulated with insulbright if that gives anyone any ides. I guess I could use it as a bowl cozy on hiking trips, maybe? Or maybe it could hold pencils? Anybody got any ideas?

BTW this is my very first machine sewing project so it's not spectacular.

Crappy phone photos of it:

So I just recently started making jewelry (see here for my first pair of earrings) and I had an idea: to make origami paper cranes into beads. I have a ton of them, some really tiny and in fancy paper, so I thought I'd put them to good use. There's just one problem: I have no clue what to coat them with! I thought maybe glue or nail polish, but I was wondering if anyone had a better idea. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a hole in whatever I use to coat the cranes? Thanks in advance!

Hey craftgrrls,
For the longest time, I've been trying to securely glue/attach plastic trinkets and fabric appliques onto metal hair clips. I've tried what seems like every glue out there, just to have them fall off shortly after. Does anyone have any tips to what might work? I'm ready to try pretty much anything.

Although you can find a gazillion Gocco picture tutorials online nowadays (and Etsy even has a how-to video up), I still wanted to share my first experience printing with my Gocco.

Yay for Home Screen Printing! )

Star Jar

So for my boyfriend, I'm making a star jar with little origami stars inside it (black, dark blue, lighter blue, purple, and yellow) and I'm going to attach a note to it. I've already made the jar, but I'm stuck on the note. I'm writing in a non-English alphabet, and I want to have it on something other than just plain paper. How do I attach it? What do I put on the paper? Like a border maybe, but what kind? And how would I fold it? I was thinking some kind of origami fold, but I feel like that'd be too hard to open and it might mess up the prettiness of the script. I don't want to just fold it in half though, I don't think.

Here are pictures of the jar. Sorry they're kinda blurry, but the only camera I have is on my cell phone.
