Howdy. I feel a little silly for posting this, but wanted to share because this is the first place I ever posted about the Mario Scarf. So thanks for getting me thus far in this project.

I have this black nylon messanger bag that I really want to use as my bookbag because it is perfect with all the pockets. The only problem is I can't stand the fact it is just so plain and boring. Any ideas on how I could spruce it up??

Okay so being an art student halloween is a chance for us to all show of what we can make in time. So me and my mate decided to go as TETRIS - we are that cool lol. I'm the purple one, my mate is the blue one- and we even managed to fit together,

Only prob- the amount of people I spanked on purpose and even by accident with this costume.

Good point- When drunk I thought of so many chat up lines to make me laugh like this.

Happy halloween :)

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all the great comments on my last resin paperweight post! I thought I'd show you all the last one I did for the same girl:

It's not my favorite of the three, but I still think it turned out well. :-)

Here's the other post

So, I'm attempting to come up with a reasonably last-minute costume and what I really want is to make Luna moth wings.

In the past I have seen some marvelous sites with instructions for making realistic wings but I can't find any now. Usually the best as I recall were people who made their own wings for sale but recognized that other people also love making their own and they generously shared their basic ideas. I'm looking for a realistic slightly earthy 'tattered' feel to mine, not your standard cheery "fairy" wings. One of the best sites I've found is http://www.squidoo.com/fairywings, and if you scroll down next to the section where she talks about "Types of Wings" there is actually a half-shot of Luna moth wings as a graphic on the right - that's exactly what I'm looking to make, but like I said, perhaps a bit more earthy. I was thinking I might put a top frame and let the bottom section of the wing just hang down, for instance. I'm going to be in a pretty crowded place so I don't want a broad wingspan either.

I'm also looking for ideas on how to attach them and what fabrics to use. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I did look in the memories and there are some fairy wing entries but most of the links are gone/broken, sadly.

I'm tired of stepping on earrings in my 10 year olds room so this weekend I gave her a big piece of cross stitch fabric that I'll never use because she had this idea:

Hello ladies,

I'm helping a friend make his costume for Halloween and he's going as Cthulhu. He already has the body done with paper mache, but we're having trouble figuring out how to do the top half of the costume - the torso, face, scales, and tentacles. Any insight on how/if I can pull this off would be very much appreciated. I was thinking building a frame out of chicken wire/mesh and either using paper mache or sculpey to build off of that to make a mask kind of like this http://www.masksbyjen.com/Cthulhu_Mask.htm might work, but he's worried about getting a sea-weedy/wet look and I'm worried about the tentacles falling off and am not sure how to get them to stick out like that.. I'm running short on time and funds are limited, but I'd really like to help him if I can. In short, help!

A while back I bought some doll busts and appendages meant for making Christmas tree angels. I knew that one day I'd get around to altering them. Well, guess what? I injured both of my ankles a few weeks ago, so have spent my time on the couch with all my craft supplies spread on the coffee table and a lap desk. Since thee is a lot of layer building, I've been working on the doll pieces in sort of a round. While one part dries on one doll piece, I'm working on another. Anyway, I have one that is almost completely finished. All I have left is the hair.

My doctor and his wife adopted a baby last spring. Then the wife had a baby in August. What's more, their second adoption is supposed to go through at the beginning of the new year! Three newborn girls in the space of a year. Can you imagine? :D

I made the first daughter a pink and white blanket to go with the color theme they chose. For the second daughter, I decided to add another color so that it would be easier to tell whose blanket they were grabbing.

This year my husbands family adds another two children to his large family.
Since he has such a big family it is often a strain on me to buy for them all.
He has 8 brothers and sisters they all are married or have significant others, plus his parents there are 12 kids as well (3 kids are mine). Plus they buy an extra gift for god children and we have 2 god children. Which leaves us with 29 for just his family. This is just his side.

They do not believe in exchanging names... or chipping in on gifts...

This year since we have two brand new babies I was lucky to find on clearance two LARGE rubber ducks one with a blue hat and bib and one with a pink hat and bib. While I would have loved a cute rubber duck gift for any of my kids... I was fairly sure the moms of the two babies may not be as easily impressed.

I hope they like these scrapbooks I made for them.
Normally I would tell you where I got certain supplies... but it would take ages and some are old.
I have a lot of paper stock.

Hope you enjoy my pages sweet simple and basic.

sorry for the crappy photos  )

Hello there, members of Craftgrrl! :D My name's V, and I've recently joined this group after being referred to it by [livejournal.com profile] o_greeneyes  and am impressed by the varied and awesome crafting posts I've seen so far! I am a beader, and beading is what I do. Recently I've been working on bracelets and birds. I'm hoping to get into a craft show soon! I've finally learned how to take half-decent photographs.

I fell in love with the centerpiece for this one at Michaels, I just had to get it and use it. I'm really happy with the colour.

I've seen a lot of cut-out bird pendants around lately, and wanted to take a shot and see where I could take the idea. The places to attach the bird to the necklace are kinda ackward, but it's ok because I made it asymmetrical :D (That's hard to do without fudging it, I've learned).

So...I never use patterns. I just like to take a concept and go with it. This is what I made last week. I was thinking of the ocean...or marine life in general. I'm pleased with the results.
