Hi everyone! I'm a lurker-turned-poster with something snazzy to show off. I've been working on tons of stuff lately (sewing, crocheting, papercraft, cooking, whatever I can get my hands on) and this one is kinda fun. My friend is throwing a Derelicte Ball, so the dress code is garbage. So this dress is made up of a plastic garbage bag, some electrical tape, a fuzzy bobble headband I found at uni and an 80c flyswat. About an hour of wrapping myself up in plastic and tape, here's the result;
Bumblebee dress! ) Thanks to my (cardboard samurai hat of win making) dudefriend for taping me up, taking the photo and cutting the dress off when I was done. Hope you all enjoy!

Hi there ladies. I've been racking my brain for the past few days searching for a pattern (or pattern scan) for a Japanese sailor style uniform. Once every year or so this thought will randomly occur to me & usually I don't bother with it. However, since I discovered craftgrrl I've had more help here than searching on my own. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

I did a challenge for a doll group I belong to. I got it done yesterday and wanted to share the Wyrd Sisters and Greebo with y'all.

I put a visual "how I did it" at my photo website.

Yesterday = amazing. I visited with my Grandmother and my Great Grandmother and they let me peruse through their stashes of fabric! I will post pictures later as I'm on a tight schedule now... but I'm very excited and had to share! I'm planning a quilt with bits and pieces of the crafty ladies from my family. The ball is rolling!!

I keep making my choice while grocery shopping and buying kleenex (or facial tissue, whatever you want to call it) based on the box design. It is starting to get silly and stupid.

Any good recommendations for making a box cover for my Kleenex that will look awesome and cool? I remmeber my mom (and grandmother) used to use Plastic Canvas to make them, but I would like something a bit trendier :)

For those of you that read the teaser post I did earlier today, NOW i have time to share the loots that I got yesterday! I was fortunate to be able to dig through the stashes that my grandmother and great grand mother have collected and I came out with an estimated 25 to 30 yards of fabric.

Hey all,

I would really like to cut my knitting teeth on a fisherman sweater (you know, the traditional Irish sweaters) but am rather scared. All the patterns on Ravelry look pretty intimidating! Any recommendations for an easier, less complicated sweater pattern?

In addition, I was halfway through knitting a beach/grocery tote for my good friend, L, who is getting married in October. I was also going to knit her and her sweetie an outside blanket as well, since they're both outdoorsy types who live in California, and it seemed like a good wedding present. However, her fiance recently threw a temper tantrum, and demanded that they change the wedding to include only thirty people--strictly immediate family. I'm pretty upset by this, as she is a close friend and I really wanted to be there for her. So, since I'm not invited, should I continue knitting this wedding present? Its very heartfelt (I even included an inside joke that they have on the decoration) and I don't think they would appreciate it as much as I thought they would.

So, I finally became a member of the Auntie club in my family. I have produced the two oldest grandchildren, so all my siblings got to enjoy aunt-hood and uncle-hood before my husband and I ever did. But that came to an end when my sister-in-law had a baby girl (YAY baby girls!!!). She was born February 20th and I've finally completed all the items I wanted to make for her (that is, until she's sitting up and I make a high chair/shopping cart cover).

For our family baby shower, I provided the dessert inspired from the book, Hello Cupcake!:

I can't remember the name of the font, but they were made with white chocolate and white nonpareils
OMG there are a lot of photos in here!!! )

So I've been laid off for a while now, and I'm thinking of selling some wares so I can at least pretend that I contribute to my household while a 9 to 5 job lurks just beyond my grasp. I also belong to a medieval "dress up silly on the weekends and hit people with sticks club" aka Amtgard. I've done some leatherworking in the past, and a guy at my park asked me to make a belt for him, he supplied the belt blank, and the dye, and the hardware. A few afternoons ago I sat down and made it, and came to the realization that I could probably sell these, somewhere.  Here's what I made:

And also I used these two tutorials to create a lightbox to photograph it in http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent and http://drawingsinmotion.blogspot.com/2009/01/making-of-light-box.html

But my question is this, if the belt blanks (2in by 72in) are about 27 bucks, and dye and hardware add up, would you, if you were in a "dress up silly on the weekends and hit each other with sticks" type of game, or society, would you pay 50 bucks for that? 2 color, with speciality chicago screws and concho? It would be cheaper with less colors, smaller belts and no concho.
