Hello, I'm 13 years of age and I live in sunny California. By the way, it was windy and slightly rainy the day of promotion.

This is a bit late, but I'm finally posting pictures of my promotion dress. It probably would have been easier and cheaper just to buy a dress, but then I wouldn't have gotten the experience. (Come on, who doesn't love stress?) I had a TON of problems, no pattern, and not enough time.

Teaser picture!

How can you resist the stunted cactus?

I just wanted to post a thank you for the overwhelming number of responses I got to my introductory post about the educational website I am building.

I am only posting questions to each community that are directly related to the community topic but I know a lot of you are really knowledgeable about other parts of the fashion design and construction process. So I wanted to ask that anyone who is interested in helping me along the way with this project (I hope to have it up by the end of summer) to please add me to your friend's list as I post a copy of every post I make to any community in there. Hopefully I can get a big enough friends' list that I do not have to post so often to communities that I feel like I am spamming them.

This will be the last cross-posted post.

I posted a tutorial on how to transfer photocopied designs onto fabric (it also works on paper and litho stones) using wintergreen oil.

Here's a link to the Wintergreen Oil Transfer Tutorial on my blog Leah's Stuff.

And here's a picture of the "finished product" (well, the images are transferred, but I haven't sewn the apron yet):
Wintergreen Transfer Tutorial: Both Transferred!

I have been testing out this technique for awhile, and I hope that it helps other people make some cool projects!

I’m having a dilemma with my baby shower gift. See I have this stool --
Cute right! But the thing is the mother’s taste is very set against anything too bright or pastel in the nursery or house (she’s 40 and this is her miracle baby, so she can be pregzilla). Is there anyway I can paint this to “age it” without having to actally repaint it? I want to be able to see the “TIME OUT” on the seat.

Is this do able?

I posted one of these cavity-dragons a couple of days ago and my e-mail decided not to send me your kind comments, so forgive me if my replies were late.

Here is another one in apology.

There's a lady who mentioned she's having a hard time finding basic black bra's a ll she can find are white ones, and I suggested dying white ones black, but I don't think your average bra material would take a dye to well would it?

I'm very sorry if this isn't allowed, but recently I had my Live Journal hacked. The horrible culprit did nothing directly to my journal, but posted several mean and hurtful comments in several community posts. I'm trying to track them all down and apologize directly to those hurt. I'm very sorry for this and intensely embarrassed. Please believe that I would never say such things.

Hey, community watcher, first time poster, today I decided to reconstruct some tshirts today with my girlfriend (who is much more competent with a sewing machine than I will ever be).
Most of these were pretty much no sew, but it was still fun and I hope you all enjoy it, maybe go out and reconstruct some tshirts yourself
Read more... )
Well, thanks for checking out my tshirt reconstructions!
