A pair of old man jeans were nicely turned into a knee-length skirt today, but unfortunatly I seemed to have disregarded the fact that the crotch area is made a little bulgy in men's pants. So this lovely skirt has a big bulge and it looks a little silly, does anyone know how to get rid of/decrease the size of the pseudo-penis that my skirt has now? Thanks!

Hi. This isn't actually pumpsnail, this is her sister.. heh I just have one quick question. I need to make a gradient on fabric from golden yellow to dark red. The cloth I'm using is 100% cotton, and I was assuming I should dye it, but I'm not sure how to make the gradient.. here's a picture of how I would like it to look:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you want to leave a comment on my accout, it's eggchan

So, I've been getting into making faerie-ish items... You know, crowns, wings, jewelry... and I was wondering if anyone knew of any interesting books that I could get from the library for ideas? I'm going over to the library today and haven't the faintest idea where to start. I guess there probably won't be actual books on faerie clothing or stuff like that, but I'm in severe need of inspiration... In book form! Any ideas?

I want to re-decorate my room with out having to do a drastic costly change. My room right now has white walls with buttercup yellow valances and quilt. Not really my color anymore. Im not a girly girl and the yellow looks funny with all my punk/emo posters on the wall.

Im thinking of changing the color scheme to purple black and white. White being the walls, purple and black being the pillows, quilt and curtains. I want to make a ptachwork quilt cover and i was just wondering how i should go about making it. I was also thinking of buying this sheer dark purple fabric to make curtains and finding (or making) little black stars to sew on or iron on to the curtains.

I dont have much money (actually none) but i do have a birthday comming up so i'm sure i am going to get some money or gift certificates. Does anyone have any ways to re-decorarte without spending 100's of dollars? Or any ideas that will help my re-decorating porject?

Thanks!

x-posted sorry...

I finally finished *other than touchups* painting my kitchen - hooray - that room took forever - it took so many coats - so much labor getting wallpaper down - that was the hardest project yet! and i got it done before ryan got home - i picked him up from the airport and he was so sunburned - and looking suave in a new outfit. I didn't tell him about the kitchen and when we got home there was a note on the front door that i drew that said "Ryan, welcome to while you were out" and i drew theresa, leslie, and andrew's faces on it... he walked in and was soo suprised - i was very pleased -

on sunday he bought me my hello kitty toaster which i love and looks so good in the new kitchen - it's white and pink and oh so pretty and every piece of toast pops up with a picture of hello kitty on the front - i took pics of the kitchen so once i get my film developed i will post um -

I made the marble magnets everyone talks about this weekend they came out very good - i mostly did sets of geometric shapes - stripes, flowers, squares, etc - and i did one gizmo from gremlins magnet just for ry they look very good on the fridge in the new kitchen.

Hi guys! so I am making some hand puppets and I would like to make them some mini ties so they can be business folk. Do you guys have any idea how a tie is fashioned together? It is weird because of the way they are thin and then get fat and wide and I don't know how to do that. The only way I sew is by hand also. Machines are scary :p
I'll post pictures when I finish some. I might just put the clothes on an already made puppet if I can find him.

My boyfriend sent me some white yellow and red roses. They're all wilted and dying now though =( Any ideas for what I could do with the rose petals I have?

Hey, it's me, the real [livejournal.com profile] pumpsnail. I'm sorry for the controversy that my sister caused last night. Basically what happened is she said "HELP I HAVE A QUESTION WHAT DO I DO" and I suggested she join [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl because I know you guys are the greatest. She, however, was TOO LAZY (grrrr) and since it was 3:30 AM I didn't really feel like arguing and let her borrow my account. I was reading all the comment replies in my e-mail this morning and I guess the problem was that she made a mistake with linking to a picture that redirected to a site with a bunch of ads...usually she's a bit brighter than that ;)

Anyway, I'm very glad I'm not banned, she'll be joining the community herself if she has any more questions (I think she was impressed by how helpful everyone was :D and the memories section, of course), and when she gets home today I'm gonna give her a beat-down ;)

So thanks for putting up with that silly mistake, everyone.

hey guys, i've posted before, but i don't post often.
my name is ellie, btw.

anyway, i have a question: i would like to buy a hot pink (or maybe another *hot* or unique color) canvas tote bag...i want to stencil a cool design on it and use it for books.

i would preferably like to find a cheap one-- otherwise, the whole project will become too expensive.

any ideas?

Is there a community for papercrafts? If not....

Would anyone be interested in joining a community related to papercrafts? Bookmarks, cards, handmade paper, stamping, and that sort of thing?

I'll have to scrounge around for a code and think of a name (suggestions are welcome)

I've never done scrapbooking before...
I went out to Michaels to check out books today...just to get some ideas, and ended up getting a 9x11" book from "Paper Reflections" with cardstock paper [35 sheets] for about $16.99 (CAN) ...is that expensive?

I've never done this before, and I have a question :
I noticed some pens that are for scrapbooking...and I know that of course, I don't HAVE to use those pens. But is it better, as they say, they would dry quicker and I guess won't bleed? They cost a mighty lot and I don't feel like buying them is really necessary. What kind of pens do you use? Markers? ...Just wondering.
Hopefully I'm not asking too many questions
Thanks a lot =)

I've had inspiration for a project involving circuit boards (you know, the green things) since I have easy access to tons upon tons of dead ones (my mom works at a TV station as the engineering manager on the university campus, you work it out....) but I was wondering....can you cut through them? Using what? Would any of you know? XD

gummi bear bracelet:

the bears are permanently sealed. waterproof. and as far my experiments have shown really quite sturdy little creatures (to test my sealent ive left them out in the sun. in some water. in some salt water. in the freezer. just to see if they go weird. which they apparently dont.)

im quite pleased with it. even though this is only a test run. im still working out exactly how to string the bears and whatnot. and besides it needs matching ear rings still.

I got this idea from a post here... someone made one and posted a link to instructions. I made mine out of matboard since I have a lot of it here. I get scraps of it from work all the time. I work for a framing manufacturer.
Anyways... the photo of it is kinda large so I put it behind a cut ....

two little yellow bears were just screaming to be made into earrings:

and since so many people asked about the sealer i used:

well i tried lots of store bought ones. spray on ones. polyeurethanes. food dehydrator thingies. and nothing worked. well nothing passed all of my tests. and some of the spray ons had some weird chemical reaction to the gummy - which was highly entertaining. but not productive. i finally stumbled across this sealer by basically mixing up my own. a few parts of this and a few parts of that and some white glue. i really cant give any more specifics because it was very mad-scientist. i just finaly produced a little bowl of something that worked. and i sealed up a whole bag of bears ahead of time before it dried up.

im still keeping my eyes open for a better sealer. but this one seems to work quite well.
