Okay, I've got this awful round pedestal table which is the place where I generally sew. The only problem is I can go only so fast otherwise everything jiggles off... I've tried the coffee table (it has four legs) but same problem.

Other than the floor, where does everyone use their machine? Or maybe I've just a really angry sewing machine. It's a two year old White brand behemoth (named Ethel). It's mostly metal, and has a *very* forceful uppy-downy movement.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

No one answered me about what material is bad for CD's so I went with felt. The ie closure is black yarn, and the detail is DecoFabric marker This is it.

I had to put 'this side up' on the front 'cos my mom dumped it out first thing. Brand New has their own permanent place and Taking Back Sunday is right behind it. Yeah! This is like my emo/core wallet and I'll make one for my favorite Metal bands and maybe Pop will get one. The rest just go in the big ol' wallet.

Question...

I'm a manager of an MSN Group that has to do with do-it-yourself things like home made recipes for make up, general tips, other miscellaneous recipes you can do at home for a number of things and a bunch of food recipes.

I'm losing a bit of confidence in this group because there aren't many in it and would love to get a little interaction going. I won't post the link here because I'm not sure if I'm allowed to or not but if anyone is interested, you can email me at trenthamfamily@yahoo.com

If this is against the rules, let me know and I'll remove it asap! Thanks!!

I searched the memories for this, but couldn't find it. For my friend's birthday in a few weeks, I want to get her a huge mug or thermos (72 ounces, I believe) and decorate it with paint. I'm doing this as a kind of a joke gift that's also practical, since she always drinks a ton of Diet Coke.

I have a few questions about this. If the mug has paint on it to begin with, is there a way that I could strip it without damaging the mug? Also, what sort of paint should I use that would be dishwasher safe, and should I put a layer of acrylic finish on it when I'm done for protection?

Thanks in advance.

i inherited a pair of jeans from a friend who had outgrown them. they had a kickass studded waistline, but they made my butt look flatter than my grandma's.

can you tell my butt is frowning? trust me, it is.

bad booty

so i turned them into a skirt! after i cut off the legs i used them to make a pleat around the bottom edge. i left the very bottom edge un-hemmed so that it can fray and make me look like a rock star.

I'm planning on making small framed collages for my room, just of old, weird pictures, headlines, and anything else random.

But I'm stuck on what kind of base I should put this on. I was thinking I would do each collage on a canvas, so I could paint too. But would that be appropriate? Are there any other sturdy, multi-purpose bases I could use?

Also, in framing these, do I have to use that plastic cover that normally comes with frames? I'm trying to avoid that so I can make these appear old and grungy, and so texture can be felt.

Any advice would be SO appreciated!

Can anyone think of something clever for me to do with my old birth control envelopes? They're not the "dial" type, but instead just little blue vinyl envelopes with two pockets from my Aviane pills (generic of Alesse, which also uses these envelopes). I can't think of anything to do with them and I've been using them for over a year. I hate to throw them out.

Would anyone be interested in anything made from long monster fur?
I have yellow and blue at the moment that needs using up, but I could also get other colours...green, purple definatley.Other's I'd have to check.
I'm thinking bags? Or tops/skirts with bits of fur on them? If you want anything made let me know and I'll tell you if it's possible!!!
Draw me a design if you like or suggest something you'd like making with it.
My email's zebraphenia (at) hotmail (dot) com if you're interested.Or leave me a not here and i'll keep checking back!

So, I saw this stencil cutter at Michael's today. You plug it in and it acutally heats up the stencil material and melts out the image. Has anyone tried one of these? Does it work?

ok, i know you girls will be able to help me with this:

i am starting at a new college in a few days, so of course, in order to make myself more excited, i went out and bought new school supplies. i bought 4 of those papery folders (by mead i think). you know, the ones that are like 20 cents each at officemax/staples this time of year. anyway, one is red, one blue, one green, and one yellow. i neeeeed to decorate them in someway. i was thinking collages, but i thought maybe u guys would have some more ideas. :)

thanks!

This is a baby sweater I made for my new little niece Aliyah. It's made out of homespun yarn and has two silver heart shaped buttons at center front.

Here is the pattern.

watermelon beanie! )

Just finished this watermelon beanie today. Took about three days on and off to finish, because I was lazy and it has been way too hot ot just sit and crochet for a long time. Fits snugly and matches the handbag I made a while back. Fun fun.. I'm thinking of making more and selling them, but we'll see.

edit: (sorry for not using lj-cut earlier!)

I just Bought a trunk at walmart to keep clothes in under my bed and where the hardware is attatched is all rough.
I decided to line the inside with this cute stellar pattern fabric i bought.
My question is:
What is the best way to attatch the fabric to the walls? It's thin compressed wood stuff, so staples wouldn't work. And im thinking glueing it all down would be a daunting task. Any suggestions?

Ok, so I've made microwaveable heat packs before. And it just so happens that I have enough fabric and fill to make one more. About two weeks ago, my fiance sent me roses, and they're wilting now, but they still smell absolutely wonderful - actually more so now than before. So. I want to preserve them. I did hang some to dry, but what to do with these? Would it be feasable to just add these petals to the flax seed I use in a heat pack? I think that would just be grand! Any other suggestions? They're obviously not fresh, so I don't think rosewater would work so well, though I'd like to hear directions on that for future reference.

today i decided to stop being scared of stencils and try one out. i used a picture of ben gibbard from the postal service/death cab for cutie which i printed out from my pc. i cut it out with a boxcutter. i took a piece of cardboard and thumb tacked my shirt onto it then tacked the stencil on over it. i used a stencil roller and black fabric paint and just rolled over it. you can't really tell that its him unless you know the picture im talking about.

i want to write the postal service on the back or some lyrics or something.. any suggestions on how to do that? i tried using letter stencils but the ones i have are too small and come out crappy looking. should i print out letters from my pc?
