why are most wallets so ugly and boring?
does anyone know where to find unusual, cool, fun, creative-looking wallets? or perhaps ideas to make one yourself?

i am talking about wallets that have more "pockets" than just one where all the coins, creditcards, photos has to be mixed all together like a "salad".
i am looking for wallets with more features than just one big "area" so to speak.

Hi all you Australians out there! I'm going to be visiting Sydney in December, and plan to do loads of craft shopping there. We have Spotlight here in Singapore but the range isn't very wide at all. Aside from Spotlight, K Mart and Lincraft, do you guys have any other suggestions as to where I should shop? In particular, I'm looking for :-

- marble magnet supplies (need magnets badly)
- fancy grommets / eyelets
- cheap craft punchers
- rubber stamps
- magnetic paint

Thanks!

the scarf is my first satisfactory crochet project.

went to the posh celebrity graced yarn shop, la knitterie parisienne, with my coworker today. we dropped a combined total of $100 on a few measly scraps of fuckin yarn. i don't think i can afford to get used to non-acrylic. but the stuff sure is soft.

ok, after looking at faqs and tutorials on stencil revolution for days, i
FINALLY went out to joann's fabrics and bought a bottle of black acrylic paint, textile medium, and two sheets of plastic from the quilting department which was my only option there.
so i go home and print out some lovely photoshopped stencils and proceed to trace and cut with my bro's exacto knives.
BUT, i am having a hell of a time cutting things out! i can't do fine details and i have to go over the same line over and over HARD to cut. took a LONG ti.me to make a simple stencil (woman shaking fist at sky)

SO my questions to all you lovely folk:
are there easier mediums to make stencils from that you all recommend?
are there any other sharp pointy things that you all prefer to use?

Does anybody know of a good way to attatch animal bones (heavy ones, but hollow) to wood? I have an art project, at least that's what we'll call it, that I need to do this for. I tried using hot glue, mounds of it, but it broke off. I can't use nails because it will just break the bones. I need a glue of some sort. Suggestons?

i'm not sure if anyone gets 17 magazine but in this month's issue they have a Chef section on making food for the holidays. one of the ideas was to make chocolate covered pretzels (rods, regulars & minis) and i thought this was a great idea. they also had packaging ideas for the 3 recipes and the idea for the pretzels was to put them in clear plastic boxes (decorated with a ribbon, etc.). the problem is they didn't say where they found the boxes and i've looked in a couple stores and online but can't seem to find them. they weren't like tupperware, they were just plastic boxes. if anyone knows where to find things like this or can think of any stores that might have them i would be very thankful :) they don't have the same recipes on their website so i can't post any pictures. thanks!

& happy thanksgiving all!!

It's hard to tell if someone is joking or not in thier posts, so please keep comments positive. I have, unfortunatley, had to delete some comments lately that could have been legitimate jokes, but just looked really really mean. What might be a great joke, might look flat online and be taken as a rude comment.

Also, a gentle reminder that selling isn't allowed. This means please don't reference your ebay auction, or where the items are being sold. If someone asks if the item is for sale feel free to give them your contact info so you can finish the arrangements and make the sale elsewhere! It's great you found a customer, and made a sale.

Thank you all so much!

hey guys,
i just have a quick question.
does anyone know of a website, or does anyone have a pattern for making chinese take-out type cartons?
i'm going in a craft fair thing in a couple of weeks, selling my jewellery, and i thought that the cartons would be a funky way to package things.
thanks in advance!

hey everyone, i'm new here; just joined the other day. i went through the memories section and read up on screen printing. you guys are amazing with this stuff! i already finished my first screen, haven't tried it out yet, but it looks like it'll be sucessful. however, i'd like to know which is a better method to use for getting a design onto a t-shirt.. screen printing or stenciling? it seems to me like stencilling would be way easier, but then why would people do screen prints? is one method more professional looking that the other? or more durable over a long period of time? with a stencil would you have to use fabric paint instead of just plain old acrylics? i remember using fabric paint a long time ago and eventually it started cracking. it was the thick kind though. i guess it was the puff paint?

well, thanks guys, i hope that wasn't too many questions. i apologize if it's been gone over before, but i couldn't find anything on which is better in the memories.

once again matilda is proving to be a most excellent model. gracious even when every item is about 10 times too big.

light and lofty in some light yellow. red heart acrylic for the trim. size N hook (again!) took approximately an hour-ish. i call it the pink lemonade hat. i dont know if you can make it out but there are two felt pink drops stitched on either side

another picture and some different projects )

Hello, tulip honies and beautiful bunnies.

The Boy and I have seen this shopping cart for about a billion years (or three weeks) in the woods. It doesn't move an inch. Or rather, it didn't.

Last night, we rode it to his apartment. Well. Mostly, he did and I chased him and squealed and told him to be careful while giggling like a mad little thing.

Once it was stationed in his bedroom and we were sitting on the unkept bed, we realized we didn't have a clue as to what to do with it. The apartment is tiny and so it is sort of difficult to ride around indoors, and we don't want to ride it outdoors and be scolded. Paranoia, etc.,etc. It isn't that we would have stolen a shopping cart from just anywhere. We took it because it was in the woods and it wasn't being used and and and, yes. But. Moving along.

It could be a chair for a girl if you flip it so the basket is vertical and the wheels are behind one's head (The Boy tried sitting in it and... it doesn't really work good on the boy bits, but I'm comfortable sitting on it, sort of. Needs cushions, if it's going to be a chair). It could be a new cage for Abraham the bunny if we add wood to the bottom of the basket and add chicken wire and levels. It could just hold beers in coolers at parties. It could hold a garden, but The Boy doesn't really want it to be outside.

We're trying to think of something snazzy to do with it. Any ideas?

well, I'm off to michael's today. I found two coupons in their flyer in the paper. one is for 40% off one item for today only between 8am & 8pm. the other is for 50% off one item between 8pm & 10pm. oddest coupons ever...

but anyway, I've got to get some fabric glue. I bought some iron on transfers for some bucket hats I have, but wouldn't you know, it's very difficult to iron things to a hat. what with the angles and all. I've never used fabric glue, never even heard of it til I read it on the back of the patch instructions. has anyone ever tried it?

just saw this ad on tv, and its on the website too: walmart has a sale on singer sewing machines for 84 dollars. not a bad price for a good brand of machine. thought some people might be interested.

mmhm, i have a site now. not my own domain yet, 'cause man, i'm poor (my scarf money will change that eventually though). anyways, i don't really know why i'm posting it in here, seeing as there is nothing of interest yet...but you guys answered my questions and whatnot, so i thought you'd like to see the final product.
voila!

Earlier last month someone posted a link to Craftology.com. The site its self is a really good idea, and being an independent artist, I thought I might offer some of my work up to them to see if they could sell some of it (I need fabric money). As it turns out, they sell Canadian goods, and I am not Canadian!

But this realization brought me to wonder: is there a States version of something like Craftology.com?

so.

hey, i was wondering if anyone had tried this sewing machine? if so, what do you think of it?

i am looking for just a simple sewing machine to make clothing and maybe handbags. i don't need fancy stitching or much else other than forward stitching, back stitching, and zigzag for reinforcement.

do you have any suggestions for me?

thanks so much in advance

Anyone know what I can use to do quick tie-dye? I'm hosting a crafty birthday party for 20 kids and our project is tie-dying shirts. Only problem is, I can't find dye that dosen't require a setting time of several hours.

I can't change the project now and I can't find the quick kit I was hoping to use. Any ideas??? Help...
