Hello from HK! One major fashion influence in Hong Kong for the 30-under crowd is the fruits movement from Japan. A big thing I've noticed a lot of girls wearing are loong sweatshirt hoodies. They usually come in cute patterns with bears or round-headed people and hit below the hip. Some have knit ribbing on the bottom and the sleeves, and some have monster fur trim on the hoodie. For a mid-westerner like myself, it's a pretty smart statement: fashionable AND warm.

To make one of your own, I would suggest collecting the following instructions. These are pretty liberal, as I haven't tried it myself yet. But hey, exploration and discovery are all part of the process when you actually go out and do it! I drew some pictures to visualize, for people like me. ;D Feel free to make comments on modifications and the like.

Apparently, stuff julie likes is closing down, so i cant find foaming bottles anywhere. does anyone know where i can get some? A foaming bottle is one of those bottles with large nozzle pumps. you put very watered down liquid soap into it and when pumped, the soap comes out as foam. thanks so much!

Here's a link to some stuff I've made. I like my new stuff better. Each photo description explain yarn and a little about how I did it. Nothing is from a pattern or anything.

Okay, ladies, I need some help.

I have a biiiiiiig bulletin board that has been given to me and is covered with multicolored pushpins. (I think they're pushpins...not the flat ones but the ones with the "body" so you can remove them with ease and without killing your fingernails?) I like multi-colored just as much as the next person, but they just don't go with the rest of my decor.

I have plans to cover the bulletin board with wrapping paper that matches my decor (because cork is just not that pretty) and really don't feel bright green and red pushpins would match the muted tones I usually use.

How can I change their appearance? I'm not looking to do marbles (I've got marble magnets already, don't want to overkill that), I'm just looking to do anything to them to make them match my soon-to-be-newly-wrapped bulletin board. Functional is good. Functional and durable is better.

Any/all suggestions will be taken into serious consideration. Thank you!!!

Bracelets

Sorry about the quality of the picture, but these are some bracelets I made last year and are finally showing them off.

The first one is a Harry Potter one. It is made out of those stones that you collect and play some game with..I dunno. Anyways I drilled a whole in them and put some cheap black beads around them and voila.

The second one is the life cycle of toast I made out of Sculpy. It starts at the toaster and then on to the happy toast. Next it gets grape jelly, butter and strawberry jelly, then its spread on, and then oh no! Someone bit it!

Oh yeah...and I tried getting all of this text behind the lj-cut but I was having some trouble- anyone care to help me out?

Thanks :)

Hey lovely ladies (and gentlemen)! I want to make some curtains for my bedroom and my living area/loft thingy. I have zero sewing experience except for home ec way back in 9th grade, and I will be doing this by hand as I have no machine. BUT I really want to get into sewing and making things and crap. And I need some damn curtains.

Any tips? Advice? Words of warning? Links to places that helped you learn how to sew? Creative ideas for cheap, but very cool, curtains? What type of fabric would be good?

Y'all are the best! And happy happy new year!

So apparently my host's domain expired last night or something, so I no longer have a site. Thank you to photobucket.com, I will now have pictures, and not red x's. Sorry for any anguish I may have caused; I promise I didn't mean it ;}.

So sorry if this is a repeat to some of you.

Hi! I've been scanning through this community for a few months and I decided it was time to stop being a loser and join. I got a sewing machine for christmas, and I can't get it to thread up right. I know I have to be doing something completely stupid...blarg.

When I try to thread it up, and i turn the little wheel to get the needle to go down,it comes back up and hasn't looped with the bobbin thread. I've tried several times and for some reason it just isnt catching the bobbin thread :S. please help!

any advice would be appreciated. . .thanks!

I made Fiber Trends Felted Clogs a couple days ago (each one took me about 2.5hrs to make). I used Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride (worsted) to make them. I made the woman's size medium & they felted up to fit my boys size 6.5 feet perfectly, after about 30 min in the washer. They are really comfortable & warm! It only used up 2 skeins of the turquoise & 1 skein of the dk blue & I had just enough leftover to make myself the knitted cell phone cozy from Stitch N Bitch.

So now I'm working on the backpack from SnB, but I put my own designs on the front & back. I have the front pieces done & the back about 1/4 done so far.

Anyhoo, on to the pics!

What can I do with lifesaver wrappers? As you can see, the stripes don't show much, it's mainly the LIFESAVER logo. Any cool ideas?

i want to make my own stationery but i'm unsure on the best method to print it. i want it to be full color and for the ink to spread over the whole page. i have a good printer and can print out my own copies but the ink would bleed if it got wet. i'd like a professional job. ideally i'd like to have the quality of sanrio stationery.

can anyone recommend a good place to get stationery printed?

thanks :)
