I've been inspired by recent posts to make a duct tape bag, so here it is. I was lucky that my local ACE hardware carries almost every color of the rainbow duct tape. At first it was just open top, but I decided I'd like a little bit of privacy, so I made a flap top that tucks nicely into the inside. That's a little mini pocket outlined in blue for a pen or papers or whatever :)

eventually i plan to make a very nice wooden one with engraved letters and proper staining. but for the time being:

quick quick project. one small piece of wood i had laying around painted black and then distressed (which you cant see). designed in photoshop. printed. mod podged ontop wood. sealed. voila. an extra large flat glass marble (like for marble magnents) makes a perfect planchette.

its really not as ghetto as it looks. but im definitely going to make myself a nicer one eventually.

The bed curtain I'd planned turned out *amazing*. The hanging lamp I was hoping to work into things finished it off perfectly. Some random fabric I'd bought and an old mini-tree Christmas garland ended up being a wonderful wall-covering... *and* I also go to decorate my other walls in my pin-up girls because my roommate is AWESOME and she brought pin-up girls to decorate her side of the room as well!!!

Oh also, I decided to leave those apothecary jars empty (for the time-being) because the color of the glass matches everything else on my dresser and in my room and the emptiness adds some much-needed simplicity to all the decor.

...I still need a duvet, but one trip to the fabric store this weekend will clear that right up. (btw, thanks for yr help on the diminsions of a twin-sized bed everybody) :D

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!

I love it when a good plan comes together.

hi!

I thought maybe some of you girls could help me. I remember seeing a post a while back where someone had made purses out of Tshirts. I have tons of shirts that are too big/small for me, and I'd really like to do something with them. I checked the FAQ and could only find stuff on book purses/plastic bag purses/messenger bags ect. Any help would be much appreciated!

I never got around to taking individual pictures of all the scarves I made for x-mas (not the mention the soaps or cookies or frames). But after the presents were open my mom took group pictures of the scarf recipients. So while you unfortunately can't see the details of the scarves, at least you get an idea of the volume of what I made.

This is a picture of my father's side of the family and their scarves.
(I'm the one in the front with my eyes closed holding the baby)
ps: I made one more scarf than is pictured here but my cousin Kayla didn't come to x-mas
the rest are here )

I came across a bag of vintage black and white photos today. They are from the late 40's through the 50's.

they are all different sizes and really neat.

Does anyone have any ideas of something cool and crafty to do with them? I'm trying to think if there's a way to decoupage them onto furniture or...I don't know...something awesome needs to happen with them.

Any ideas?

I'd say there's around 40 or so of them. :)

Okay. This entry is very default- it's about the oh-so-trendy marblemagnets. I made them yesterday, and they're my first ever. It's kind of addicting though, I'll make more when I can be bothered.

The thing is. I'm sending this to an e-friend of mine, as part of this secret-santa thing at a forum. We should spend around 10 dollars. And don't remind me that Christmas is long gone. I'm a bad friend. But it's so hard to find something for her. Anyway. I made the marble magnets, and I was thinking of a presant I could give to go with them. Something bought, so that I don't come off as totally cheap. Heh. Yeah.

So that you know what the colours look like. Yeah.

I have a giant glass mirror that was taken out of the bathroom when my parents remodeled it. I had put it in my bedroom and today it fell and broke. It didn't break into small pieces but into 5 large pieces. Any ideas on what I could do with what is left?

I got a new sewing machine for Christmas - the one I asked for.

One problem: I have no idea how to sew. HaHa!

Are there any tutorials online for me?! :)

Do any of you Lord of the Rings fans out there know where I can find an image of "The white tree of Gondor"
I have plans to blow it up in photoshop and print it on cardstock then stencil it onto a shirt for my boyfriend.

I'd need a pretty simplified version of the icon, if anyone knows anywhere I can find one I'd very much appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance!

I have been in my apartment too much this week from being sick and it is making me nuts. Thanks so much to all of my friends and communities for helping to keep me sane and not feel so alone! I might not be posting for a few days after Monday as I am having a surgical procedure. I hope I heal fast though.

Oh how I wish, I wish, I wish I had a digital camera

anyways, I made this for my friend's birthday and it took WAY more effort than I thought it would. That's okay though, he's worth it

Can you "make" sea glass? I was thinking of trying to put broken pieces of glass into a rock tumbler (which I don't have as of yet, but I figure eBay would be a good place to get one), would that work? Or is there any other way of making it?

Thanks! =)

Hello...I have a call out for a crafty sewing girl who would like to take over something for me. I do not own a sewing machine, nor do I have the skill necessary for this project (I also do not have the time to learn).
I have a person interested in a hat that looks like this for pics click here ) If anyone knows of any craft girls willing to help this lady out, please email me at iris_shadows at earthlink dot net for details.

Here is a picture of my first knit sweater. I'm so proud of it and got so much confidence from the compliments that strangers gave to me about it when I wore it today. There are tons of mistakes of course but overall I'm very satisfied by how it turned out. Hope you guys like it! Remember it's my first one!

Pattern- 'To Dye For' page 198 in Stitch n' Bitch
Yarn- Rowan Polar 60% wool 30% alpaca and 10% acrylic( I don't remember the name of the color)
Needles- Size 11 bamboo circulars
Deviations from Pattern The sleeves came out about 3 rows too long so instead of re-knitting them I just rolled them up and steamed them into place. The patterns also called for mohair yarn but I chose wool instead.
Estimated Knitting Time- The sweater me took 2 weeks to complete.

Up Next- Punk Rock Backpack on page 174, The monkey pattern!

Long time lurker, first time...poster! I don't know if it's the correct word, anyway, I really like this community and most of the ideas/projects shown here.
I have a question (seems to me not to be in the FAQ):
Is it safe to use "normal" soap (not glycerin type soap) as a base for a soapcrafting/melt&pour soap making procedure? I mean, could this "ruin" the ingredients of a soap bar or modify them in a wrong way? And what about adding more ingredients, such as essential oils or other, to this base once melted?
I'm really new into the soap world and in the crafting stuff in general, and no english mothertongue, so don't mind if I write/ask weird things :)

thanks,
ciao
