I took an ordinary Nokia phone, plain sliver and black, and covered it in crafty goodness. A little glitter nailpolish, a few stickers, a pic and some glue...Now I'm in Cary Grant heaven!

nokia, with flower detail on front:

a dash of celebrity:

and voila!:

"Oh, yes darling! Of course I'll marry you!"

For crafty measure, I also spiffed up that dress by adding lace and a bow...yay!

hey all, new here- so I thought I'd introduce myself by sharing my latest crafty endeavour. I browsed through the memories section and didn't find this, but if it's been said and done, forgive the newbie...

I guess the best way to describe it would be decoupage on glass- get some clear glass plates and bowls from the thrift store (not too many scratches and still only 50 cents) and some permanent acrylic varnish from the local art goodies shop. Choose something nifty on paper- stamps, comic books, wrapping paper, etc. Now do the decoupage thing! Use smallish peices of paper and several layers to protect the paper from the wear and tear of washing. And remember to paste stuff to the back part of a plate or the outside of the bowl (but with the design facing up on the plate or wherever on the bowl). Let it dry completely and enjoy your re-newed dining set! As far as I know, you can't stick the finished product in the dishwasher but you can eat you heart out off the non-varnished side.

I made a set for my friend using Wonder Woman comics and I will porbably make some plates for myself with origami paper. Hooray.

3. i have tons of jewelry, necklaces, bracelets, har thingies and i want a creative way to store them all. any suggestions?

thanks!

p.s. feel free to add me to your journal. mine's public and i'll add anyone who adds me =)

This is probably a stretch....
But has anyone ever made clown pants with a hula hoop as the waist?

I had good intentions when i attempted this. i didn't make the rise (crotch to waist) "deep" enough, because i guess in my head i didn't really factor in the fact that the hula hoop would stretch it out, and make it more shallow. I also tapered the legs a bit too much, so they didn't fit.

I've never made any sort of pants before, though, and i was going without any pattern. I have to buy more fabric at some point to re-attempt this, but i was wondering if anyone could think of any pointers/tips for making pants for my next try.

I suppose as a disclaimer i'll add that my dad is a clown for the Shriners, and they have to provide their own costumes, and i'm attempting to make these for him as a sort of "surprise"...so he'll have something different before all the clown events start up this spring.

All right, so I have another question about those conversation hearts. I realize a question similar to this was asked recently but it didn't really answer my question. Basically, what should I use to attach the hearts to an earring hook? The last post was talking about eye hooks and fish hooks and I don't know what those are (look of ignorance). But when I went to AC Moore last night to check out some earrings that I could attach, I couldn't figure out how I would do it. A girl posted some really cute pictures of them a week or two ago but i don't remember how she did it. I don't think poking a hole in it would really work...should I just super glue or hot glue or something? What if I don't want to have a hook earring, but a post earring? Would super glue or hot glue work? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you so much.

after scouring the memories (which i'm really quite impressed with, the organization astounds me) i still have no idea how to do this.

i want to crochet a belt. however, i'm not a big fan of belts that tie, so i want to use D rings to do it. i know that i could just crochet onto the first one, slip stitching so it would stay, but how on earth would i manage to attach the second one?

I REALLY need some good ideas on how to store and sort my stickers. And they are not all those Stickopotomus ones that can go in a binder. Any suggestions?

I've heard that you can get those iron-on letters at Wal-mart, but where are they in the store? With the computer paper, or what?

OK, I can't decide what to put on a purse. It's miniature houndstooth print with a hot pink lining, and I have light pink, black, white, and gray felt. I was thinking a record, maybe? I could stitch it on with silver thread. Or maybe an elephant.

Any ideas are welcome, pics as soon as I'm done.

Does anyone have any instructions to make lavender eye pillows? Or any other kind of sachets. I want to make a warming pad for my cold little chihuahua too. I thought I had a book with it in there, but it was a no go. I would be so appreciative of any advice or links to sites that might help. Thanks in advance!

My youth leader of my church is stepping down from his posistion of head High school minister/pastor type thing. I'm really close to him. I use to live with him and his wife for a few months during a hard time in my life.
My church is throwing a suprise going away party thing for him tommorow night. They asked me and a few other students to speak at it. Last minute, it kind of hit me I should probably make/get him something. I'd rather make him something.
My ideas are present him with some kind of cheesey gift with my speech, or just make him a nice something to include with his other gifts he'll be recieving.
He's going into wood work, if that helps. I was thinking maybe some kind of fake trophy that has to do with his new or old work? I would need good ideas how to do that though.
An obvious idea would be to dig up old pictures, memorable items and stuff that I have collected over the 5 years of knowing him and make some kind of frame or collage to give him. But that's so uncreative.
Is there anything else I could do creative with pictures? A photo cube? Something that reflects his new job?
Help.

Okay ladies, I am in need of some help.

I would love to have a duct tape messenger bag tutorial.. I looked in the memories, and only could find ones for sewers. Would those work just as well but use the duct tape?

I even searched google and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the help.

a while back i saw a person who had made a crochet hook holder (might have been knitting needles...same concept) out of what looked like scrap magazine clippings. i cannot find it at all, but i wanted to look at it to see how to go about making one. (i lost a crochet hook, so i decided i needed a place to store them)

does anyone have this link or know how to do it?

I recently saw a product on a certain website that I was really interested in. I actually plan on buying it, but I would love to know how they did it. Here goes my explanation of what it looked like:
It looked a lot like a flat glass marble with a picture inside of it. It was not the flat marble with the picture glued to the back side. They were actually called "bubbles". I would love to know how someone got a picutes inside of a piece of glass. They were described as being glass, so my theory that it was just pourable resin is wrong I guess. If anyone has any idea how one would go about making these, please let me know! Thanks a ton!

anyone here made a quillow [a quilt that folds up into an attached pocket, turning it into a pillow]? i googled for instructions, and they seem simple enough, but i was wondering if anyone had any insight on how easy or difficult they might REALLY be. thanks, grrls! :}
