i know some of you do ceramics. anyone know the answer to this?

i could swear that when i used underglazes in high school on bisqueware that you could put a clear glaze right over the top without firing the underglaze. does anyone know if this is true? or do i have to fire the underglaze, then clear glaze it and fire that?

i ask this because my art club is decorating a set of bisquewear plates. we have no kiln at our school, but i plan to take them to the clay guild and pay for them to fire the plates. i'd rather do this only once, but i will, of course, do it twice if its necessary.

I want to crochet a dress...has anyone had any experience with this?
I looked in the memories and did not find anything.
I think it would be interesting to crochet a dress...I see them sometimes in the stores.
Also, I found a link to crochet my own cardigan...I think that might be fun too. I see them for sale in Target and stuff all the time and it makes me want one...but I don't want to pay $30 for one that I sorta like. When if I make my own I know I will love it.
I'd prefer a pattern that has pockets...or I suppose I could add my own, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard.

I've got instructions for this one:
http://web.archive.org/web/20001018045335/http://www.cei.net/~vchisam/groovy/504-135.html

And this one:
http://www.angelfire.com/art/bubamara/free/navycardigan.html

Which one do you all like better?
What kind of yarn would be best to make a dress out of? And a cardigan?

Also, I am a bigger girl....and how would I got about altering the patterns as so they would fit me? To fit my chestal area and make it not super tight, I would need a 2X
I would appreciate help..if you got any.

Or, does anyone know of any sites that have plus size patterns on them?

Thanks,
Jessica

made an easter hello kitty out of sculpey. inspired by the picture on my email this month: here.

i couldn't get my camera to capture it correctly, because of the glaze.

pretty good for a second try at making something like this out of sculpey. :) though i did have to restart several times and carve it down and add to it after the first baking, and parts kept falling off that i attempted to reattach with the glaze, and i'm afraid to touch it. heh. happy easter.

I looked in the FAQs but couldn't find anything...

I recently saw the vagina monologues(performed at my college by the drama club) and they were selling vagina shaped chocolates(both on a stick and without). I know I saw a website somewhere that sold them as well. But what I'm interesting in is finding molds to make them. Is there any chain craft store that could possibly sell them?

thanks!

Hi all. I'm a long-term reader, but this is my first post, blah blah blah. Basically I've made a messenger bag out of felt, which I'm very proud of because I've sewed pretty patches on it and things, but the felt below the straps is already getting very thin from the strain of carrying books and things. What would be the most effective (and easy) way to strengthen the bag and stop this from happening? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, maybe some of you can help me. Ok, this may be a stupid question so please don't be mean and angry. Ok, my sewing machine keeps messing up on me. Like, the bobbin thread keeps coming undone while I am sewing, I think it is breaking on me. I can't explain it any better, but it happens after like 6 inches of sewing everytime I fix it. Maybe I am just stupid or something. . .

I like to play with body care / herbal crafting. I've been making a body butter product lately that is just fabulous. It's the best moisturizer I've ever used, and everyone I've given some to has loved it and said that they're never going to use regular lotion again. It's much easier to make than lotions, too, as it's not a water and oil emulsification. It's more like making a salve. More information about the product and instructions for making it can be found here.

I also have recipes for an herbal salve, sugar/salt scrubs and a medicinal lip balm, as well as information about my interest in herbal crafting and how these recipes came about on my main herbal crafting page.

hi, this is my first post here. i'm almost 15 years old and i've been into crafting for as long as i can remember. my mom is really big on crafts.

i've made a four or five purses recently, with no templates or anything. maybe sometime i'll post the pictures. but for now they're in my regular journal. and you could find them all if you scroll back far enough.

anyways, this entry has a point.

i have a this jar full of old girlscout patches. anyone have any suggestions on what to do with them? i'm not really into the whole "pinning patches to your jacket" thing, but i sort of want to make something i can wear or have as an accessory. i was thinking maybe a purse..made just by sewing the patches together side by side. would that work?

any other suggestions are appreciated. :)

i kind of checked the FAQ, but this is more of an opinion question...

i need to do a "speech to demonstrate" and my first topic (palm reading) got rejected, so i need to think of a new topic. it had to be something i can demonstrate in class, make a speech about, and is fairly interesting. i was going to do decopague...uses of an altoid tin or something like that.

any ideas? tia!

Couldn't find any info specifically on this, so thought I'd open it up for suggestions. My boy has wood paneling (the kind with silly vertical grooves) in his room, and thinks my suggestion for painting it plaid is cool. We're not painters, and I'm not sure how to go about this to make it look like real plaid. Anyone considered this before? Any tips would be most appreciated, and pictures will be shared when/if it's finished!

Also, any other suggestions for making wood paneling not suck (but without filling the grooves in) would be great.

This is the purse I made for the swap on craftster. Don't look if you're participating (at least until after you've received your purse). )
