Hey all!
I'm making my mom a mini fake bouquet of flowers since she always kills the real thing.
Anyways, I thought I had some floral tape, but it turns out I don't. I have the stems, but not the tape...urgh!
Do you think I could use regular tape and just paint green over it?
I have a flower shop by me, but I don't know if they will sell me floral tape or not. And if they do, it will probably cost me an arm and a leg...ergh

It was a last minute idea to add to the collect6ion of presents...everything else is ready.

I'm wanting to make some bamboo candles. I was thinking to buy two long sticks of bamboo and cut them into various sizes, make them into candles and tie them together with twine so that they're not just single candles.

My question, though, is this: what do you fill the bottom with to keep the wax from melting out? Is there something special? Or is it a really simple thing that I am completely overlooking?

Anyone have a pattern for one of those towels that folds up and into a bag in the same piece of cloth? I'd like to make them for the cabin, and beach hopping this summer.

Thanx

Join the Robot Orgy message board. The goal is to have a place for people who are between the ages of 16-30. I'd like to get some more girls who are interested in crafty things and mail art there since it is one of my passions. So, if you have time to check out it out, here's the link:

http://robotorgy.pharse.com

This is by NO means a dead board. There is already almost 40,000 posts and over 250 members and the board has only been up for 4 months.

If you want you can say amberooni referred you. :)

hey, i thought this was cool:

i made a couple of record bowls today, and then i called my dad for our weekend talk; i mentioned to him "i was just melting records in the oven" and his response was "oh, making those wavy bowl things? i remember those from when i was your age." didn't know it had been done for awhile. my dad's 49. maybe everyone knew that was an old-school craft but me, but i thought it was neat. :)

I've been having so much fun reading this community the last few weeks... I've seen so many beautiful things, and gotten so many great ideas. (I show them to my husband and say "I bet I could make this, I just need..." and he says "no -- you spend too much on craft and hobby stuff already." He's right, tho!! I have as much 'craft crap' as he has 'computer crap'!) ;)

I'm learning how to crochet... and kicking myself for not having my grandma teach me when she was still alive. I'm not very good at it yet (bad tension -- BAD!) but it keeps my hands busy when I have nothing else to do (and keeps me from being tempted by snacks from the kitchen!) I keep buying lots of yarn, thinking "ooh, this would make something cute!" and I now have about 20 skeins sitting in two bags in the spare bedroom. oops!

I also do some sewing (just crafty things, and I made an ankle-length skirt last summer). I have a 56-year-old Singer Featherweight machine that I use... I've been collecting some of the attachments on Ebay, so at some point, I can learn how to do things like zippers, pleating, buttonholes, etc. There's just something about this machine that I like so much more than the modern, plastic machines... even if I can't just press a button and make it embroider patterns.

I like to make jewelry, too (necklaces, earrings and bracelets)... I've been making hairsticks a lot (for me, for my friends, and perhaps to sell, if I ever feel confident enough in my work), and I also belong to a gem & mineral club (just joined this year), and I've been making cabochons (here's a link to an explanation of how they're made), which I haven't done anything with yet... I'm probably going to make some brooches, pendants and bolo ties, once I buy some findings. :)

Anyhow, I'm here to show off some of my hairsticks!

Hello everyone,

I have a belt that I love but I never wear because it's very stiff. It's just a light brown genuine leather belt but I would like for it to be much more comfortable. There is a thing in the FAQ about painting leather but nothing about aging. Does anyone have any ideas on how to slightly age leather? Can I just sandpaper it or something?

Hi ladies

Quick question for you (yes, I did check FAQ's and was unable to locate anything):
where can I find reasonably priced (in other words, cheap but still good quality) message charms, preferably sterling silver? You know, the ones with words like Joy, Love, Peace, etc on them? They need to be useable for bracelets, so they'd need to have holes on the sides if possible, not just the dangly ones you use for necklaces.
Thanks in advance for your help everyone! I really need to know A.S.A.P. as it is for a project for the local armory here as part of a fundraiser. Thanks again!!!
