so. i made a skirt, but i wanted to add this rectangular pre-made strip of strawberry-like fabric, but because it's a rectangle and not even remotely circular, i can't put it horizontally across my waist or stomach. so, i can do it diagonally, and came to the conclusion it would make a great dress. but i have no idea how to do this bunchy part at the bust that i drew without sewing onto elastic....or could i do a drawstring type thing? help? it's a sheery type fabric, too.

yep! i am the girl who can take good photos. please excuse this. )

I've got a GIGANTIC spool of fine copper wire - approximately 22 gauge. I've made a couple of cool chokers with it, but it's labour-intensive because two lengths of wire have to be spun together to give it enough shape. Any ideas as to what elseI could do with it without having too many tools?

My boyfriend has a bunch of pictures of us just sitting on a pile on his dresser and since he doesnt have an album to put them in, I decided to make him one. He loves dolphins so i put a bunch of dolphin stickers on it. I painted it baby blue, put our names on it with stickers in the shape of letters, and put a bunch of heart stickers on it. very girlie, but i know he'll love it =)

sorry for the bad quality pic

<3 jessica

*edit*

I just also wrote this quote on the inside of the album with a blue gel pen, along with 2 more dolphin stickers.

Do any of you know of any online FREE plus size patterns for sundresses? Not to be terribly specific or anything....

Normally I would just wing it and see how it turns out, but I have this great fabric, no extra to practice on...and I really want a summery dress IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi everyone!
I decided to make a present for my father's birthday, on July 29th. He's a Beatles fanatic, so I searched for all their album covers, and found good resolution ones... The only problem is: what to do with them?
I could iron them on little pillows, one for each cover, but: it'd be annoying to make/receive 10 little pillows, and maybe it's a too girlish idea...
I'd go maybe for two/three pillows with 3 or so pictures on each.

Do you have any other idea to suggest me? I'd like to surprise him!

Thanks!

Okay, so at band camp, we have to wear these white shirts with our names on the front, so people know who we are and stuff.

I have my old shirts from last year, but they're so boring. What can I draw on the back of mine to make them more interesting? I'm looking for an angel wing patter so I can draw them on the back of one, at least. But any ideas how I can spice up these boring white shirts?

do any of you know how you would go about making something like these bracelets out of cans? I checked briefly in the memories section but didn't see anything... sorry if I overlooked it. I found them for sale at a ridiculous price, and I don't really have hundreds of dollars to spend.

and one more picture of them )

So, I'm finally getting around to posting this. I made my first skirt a few weeks ago! Hand-sewn; took me over 7 hours and about 929 clumsy pricks with the needle. I did everything except the hem, which I took to a seamstress 'cause I knew I'd botch it. :) It's twirly and I love it to bits. The fabric came from the kiddie clearance bin at Hancock's.

My black cat skirt! )

One small problem: the T-shirt waistband came out kinda crooked and doesn't sit quite right on my waist. You can kind of see it in the first photo. It stretches out when I pull it over my hips. What would be the simplest way to solve this problem without completely ripping apart the waistband? A drawstring? Sew some elastic in?

I am interested in printing some text on some fabric. Screenprinting is great, and I have done it in the past, but I am looking for something a bit more portable, simpler, and easier for me to do alone (remember, I have a disability that makes it difficult for me to lift things, and I am always sitting down.). Iron on transfers are a no go, because I don't like how easily the crack/fade.

What I am considering is making a lino print to use as a sort of stamp. I will cut the linoleum with the design I wish, and then coat said design in either screen printing ink, or acrylic paint mixed with textile medium. I have only done a lino cut once before, and have only printed on paper. I was curious to see if anyone had made a lino cut stamp, and then printed on fabric instead.

Does this work?
Any tips before I start purchasing things/ getting my hopes up?

Here's my predicament. I just taught myself how to knit on circular needles today and I'm making the purse in the Stich N' Bitch book. It's going all fine and dandy. Almost. After spending 3 hours knitting, I've realized that my loop has a twist in it. I didn't notice it earlier but I suppose that it was there the whole time. I guess I already know the answer to my question, but is there any way possible to fix this without taking it all apart? Thanks for your help, I'll post pictures when I finish it!

I'm a good web searcher, I really am. But. I. Cannot. Find. What. I. Want!!!

Anybody ever seen a pattern for Seifuku? That's the Japanese school uniforms (here's an example) commonly seen in anime and magna (a la Sailor Moon, kinda). I'd also be willing to buy a real one, but not at the prices I'm finding - over a hundred bucks for each piece everywhere I've found them!

I don't mind and fully expect to pay a reasonable price for a pattern, but I canNOT find one for love or money.

Alternately, if we have any craftgrrls over in Japan who would be willing to help me procure something authentic (it's not that I want to make it, it's just that I can't figure out how else to get it). It's very important to me that it NOT look costume-y.

Gah! I hate not being able to find what I want!

I looked through the FAQs and even googled it but didn't find anything about this.

For christmas I want to make original gift bags individualized for each person for the gifts. Is there a template for gift bags somewhere that I can follow? Or even step by step instructions with pictures?

I saw things online where it said to just tape/glue over existing brown paper bags to make them look better but I want to make a completely new bag starting from scratch and using heavy paper (heavier than normal wrapping paper) or possibly cardboard. I'm sure I can just use hemp for the string.

thanks in advance for your help!

This is more geared towards the Mods. I was just going through the entrues for the past week. And a few of them, actauly all of them were stamped with the date and the year 2016. I dont think that was brought to anyone else's attention or maybe it might just be my computer. I just thought you should know.

hi everybody, i'm new here. i'm kind of a jack of all trades when it comes to crafts...i enjoy just about everything. maybe i'll eventually get around to posting some of my projects, but for now, just an idea.

those plastic tubes that they sell aida cloth in (like this: http://63.210.199.180/00/58/4/5843.jpg.fpx?qlt=70&wid=144&cvt=jpeg) work really well for keeping knitting needles. i don't know how many bags i poked needle-size holes in trying to transport my projects, but then i realized that the tubes should be about the right size. they make a great needle case for packrats like me who don't throw anything away. :) and since they're clear, you can see what's inside without having to open it...and you can peel off the labels and decorate them however you want, of course.
