Today I knitted 3 cell phone cozies (the black and glittery cat button ones from my site) and finished two crochet pals

I have read a bit on crocheting jewelry wire. I'd love to make a decorative bowl for a friend, as I am trying to start on holiday gifts early...has anyone done this with any success?

About two weeks ago my computer got a virus that tragically blocked me from the internet. So I was forced to find other things to do with my time on nights I couldn't sleep for a week. These are the results of those nights :)

I hand-sewed this purse, stenciled on Wonka and used a Sharpie for the quote.

i just was so proud, even though my stching isnt perfect, i love it ;P it was probably the hardest thing ive sewed, its really stretchy material and it was my first time using anything like it (its bathing suit materialish)

I hope its okay to post this here, if its not ill delete it!

Ok, so I followed the directions for the Tinkerbelly shirt on Maria's DIY site. It was easy. It was fun. I used an existing men's shirt and modified it a bit more. I'm a big girl and that thing just did not fit over my hips, so I made the bottom ragged, too.

I figured it was the thing to do since I have a billion and one safety pins hanging out around the house.

The shirt says:
Pierced
Deal With It

I don't wear it so much anymore, but it's a fun shirt. It just needed a pick-me-up.

Enough of the babble... onto the shirt.... )

I may wear it tomorrow to pick up my mom at the airport as I need something cool in the humid 80 degree weather. I think it would look smashing with that zebra skirt & a pair of chucks.

I'm making a sewing/crafting how-to website. I want it to include a lot of tutorials (but tutorials I make myself to avoid conflict). Anyway, there's to be a section about just basic sewing skills, how-to and tips.

So here's where the pretty people on craftgrrl come in. (Did resorting to compliments work? :)

What is your BEST sewing advice you can think of? Like, tips nobody would normally think of that work.

I still remember a woman that said "To sew straight lines, look at the fabric being feeded, not the needle." And ever since then I've never had a problem with straight lines!

Tips like that, be they long involved tips or simple mind-control tips, I want them. (You will be credited unless specified otherwise). :)

I looked in the memories, but I couldn't find the answer to my question.

Where can I buy fishnet by the yard? Is this even possible? I neeeed some, and I have looked at joann's & wal-mart & whatever else. thank ya.

I just moved to a new town for college, and there is a neat comic book store that sells old comic books for 5, 10, and 50 cents. I can't believe I couldn't find anything in the memories about stuff to do with old comic books!! Perhaps I overlooked, but I found nothing. The only thing I can think of is decoupaging them to something. I need other ideas! Thanks :)

Being that this is my first tutorial ever, I apologise if it's confusing. I'm also sorry this took me so long, but school started, ya know, that old song and dance.
WARNING: THIS WHOLE TUTORIAL IS IMAGES
Anyway, On with the show... )

I am making a purse and when it comes to a closure, I want to put in a zipper. However, I don't have a zipper foot for my/my mom's sewing machine, and I can't go out and buy one because the store that carried the brand of machine is closed, and its not a common machine in this city, plus, I am going out of town tomorrow, so...

Could anyone give me a site or a tutorial on how to insert a zipper? I have a fairly good idea on how to sew the sides in, however, it is the end of the zipper that is puzzling me. Do I just cut a slice down the middle of the material and sew in the zipper? I'm really confused!

Can anybody tell me the SKU number or name for this robot print fabric?

For all of you that ask about the type of wreath I used on the button and shell wreaths posted earlier. I bought them at the Dollar Tree for $1.00.
I used the 9" size. If anything I would go with that size or the next size smaller. Most craft stores carry these. I found some information on the lable that says you can buy them and also get craft ideas at their website www.3ringcircles.com

Hope this helps !

i know i just posted, but i haven't posted here in a while, and have a bunch of stuff to show off, so i thought i'd do a couple of posts, because i know how annoying it is to be on a slow connection and be trying to look at a post with a ton of pictures.

this is a bunch of paper craft type stuff i've done lately, lots of mail stuff since it seems that everyone i know has moved away... not really, but it feels like it.

Hey everybody! Here are some pictures of my first skirt I made without a pattern. It was supposed to be a circle skirt, but i messed up on my math... I accidently made the hole in the middle for my waist too big so I had to make it more of a ruffle circle skirt. It's a little too short for me, but I'm happy w/ how it turned out considering it was only my second project, and I didn't use a pattern... pictures )

mr. mushy room is a very shy little shroom who lives alone in the woods and tends to his garden. his hobbies include quilting and model trains. he likes long talks on the old log and sunrise walks in the meadow.

or he could be the result of mixing boredom with felt.

Does anyone have any ideas?
