I made Holiday Cards (when I was supposed to be studying for my Psychology final)! But really, I don't think you can call yourself a real "craftgrrl" until you risk failing a major test just so you can make something out of scraps of paper, glitter, and moldy potato chips...

Oh wait, I should warn you- there is ONE HUGE PICTURE behind this cut, not a bunch of little cute ones. This is because I am very very lazy. I laid out all the cards, and took one picture before crawling behind my computer stand and transferring all the pics on my camera. In retrospect, I probably should have positioned them all neatly and taken several pictures. Anyhoo, I apologize if I make anyone's eyes explode with the ginormous picture.

Moldy potato chips were not used in the making of these cards... )

I made this Gryffindor (Harry Potter) fleece blanket for my friend for Christmas. I gave it to her yesterday and took pictures of her with it (but she had just woken up so her hair is kind of messy):

I need emergency help (calling all Aussies and insomniacs!). I've randomly decided, at 3:47 AM, to make a monster costume. I've got a lot of felt, two pieces of Foamy (white and violet) and a high-temp. hot glue gun! I also have pink fuzzy monster slippers, a skirt that I've already picked out that's pink and purple, and a rather-fuzzy purple hooded sweater. SO, I'm hoping to make horns or ears for the hoodie, and some sort of mittens with claws for my hands.

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, good monster pictures for me to look at... yeah! I'm going for "cute and fuzzy" monster, not "scary" (believe me, you don't want to do a google image search for "monster" *shudder*). I can't sleep and I have FELT! HELP ME CREATE!!!!!!!

Some people I know are getting crocheted scarves for Christmas. One for my Mom, Mother-in-law, and one for my Step-Grandma(?)

Hopefully that link works.

Anyone have any idea of how one could make those, or something like them for cheap? $15 seems like an awful lot for something like that, and while its a cool idea I just don't think I could bring myself to pay that much money for something.

Actually, I'm considering rotating the thing so it has two hangers, and the hole faces up so I can put tealights in them and use it for lighting in my office, but I'd love to have ones like that as well for decorative purposes, you know?

I'm participating in my very first craft show a week from today.
I'm super excited and probably getting WAY too into it.

But even if I don't sell much this time, at least my craft show hymen will be lost and gone.
And I'll know what to expect in the future.

Anyway, here's my question:

I want to package the items people buy in blank gift bags, like this:
ahemcutahem. )

But I don't have time to order any online.

Any suggestions for where to buy these things at a reasonable price in large quantities?

Hola crafty ladies:

I wanted to start selling my crafts at shows and such, but how do I go about hearing about the show and signing up before they come to town? Are there mailing lists I can join and such? I think it would be so much fun, but I never hear about a show looking for vendors until it actually gets to my area and then well you can't just sign up then! :) Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Oh I'm in the Sacramento, CA area, but don't mind bay area venue news also!

Hey everyone. Firstly - let me apologize for this Text-Only Post. Such bad form, I know.

BUT, I do have some questions that if get answered well enough for my silly-ness, could result in some pretty crafty photos! So, yay for that.

1.) Does anyone have any good knitting instructions for buttonholes? It would be much appreciated.

AND

2.) I have the Stitch n' Bitch book, but I left it at university (I'm at home currently), could anyone copy the Kitty Ears Hat pattern for me? More appreciation headed your way.

Thank you-----

About two years ago I went through an origami mania faze. I was making some today because I was bored, and the only thing I can't remember how to make are the little turtles. You know, the ones that you can buy little packages of special paper for like cranes. I tried looking up diagrams online, but I can't find any. Does anyone know a site with the instructions or possibly have a copy of the instructions they could scan for me? Thanks in advance!!

I recently bought a big world map that I would like to put on my wall. I want to be able to stick pins in it to mark all the places in the world that I would like to visit. My question is: do you know of any places where you can get thin sheets of cork cut? If i'm not explaining this well enough, just tell me, lol

So does anyone know?

I require your help and promise to post pictures after!

I am looking for patterns for beaded Christmas ornaments. I know its just a netting stitch but I am having trouble getting started!

You are all so helpful I'm crossing my fingers!

Whoa, I haven't posted here in months!

Anyhoo, someone gave me a clay figurine and it broke! :( Thankfully it was just the arms that came off and they came off in a pretty clean break. So...What glue can I use to glue the arms back on?

I checked the memories but didn't see anything. Sorry if I missed it.

And just so this isn't txt only, here's a simple noteboook )

i'm decorating some glass jars as part of a christmas gift for some of my friends, and i have a question. which is better to use: colored sharpies or paint pens? (and when i say "better", i mean which will wash off or scratch off less easily?) thank you in advance, crafty ladies (and gentlemen)!

I was telling my mom about the no sew blanket I had seen on here a while ago, and she told me she had seen a pillow made the same way.  Since I'm broke, I decided to make one for both of my cousins.

Fleece - 10.58$

Pillow - 5.23$

I'm sorry this is a text only post but I have a questions about shopping for crafting goods and I know someone here will be able to answer it.

I know A.C. Moore takes competitor's coupons but will Michael's and JoAnn take the coupons of the other two? Thank you!

I have finaly drug my patchwork quilt out of it's box and have been working on it on and off for a few days now. I am only about a third of the way done with all the fun quilted stuff on the front. i have never done this before, so I am not sure what to use for the backing since I don't like the quilted stuff that looks like a mattress. Also, what goes in the middle? What kind of quilt binding works best?

Any suggestions would be awesome! I am such a newbie at this and I am not sure why I started this without knowing all the details. I figured I would find them I guess. :D

I made my first stenciled shirt ever today. It's a Fear Before The March Of Flames shirt that I plan to give my boyfriend as a Christmas gift.

I was running around town last night until 11:30 last night trying to find everything I needed. Wal-Mart was sold out of textile medium, and I couldn't find it anywhere else, so I had to buy fabric paint (Tulip). I also originally bought the wrong size t-shirts (Adult Large instead of Youth Large), so I had to go back and get them exchanged. >.<

I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out, and I plan on doing a lot more stenciling now.

hi craftgrrls,
first post (for sorry lack of images):
i have about a bazillion glass stella artois beer bottles and i haven't a clue what to do with them. they're not really classy enough to stick a candle in, and are green so i cant really paint them because the green shows through.
i'd really like to decorate by boyfriend's room with these while he's away, i don't have anything like a bottle cutter, just the usual junk- coloured paper, pens, paint etc
i checked the memories but there aren't many ideas for bottles like these
any suggestions?

i want to sew a new comforter for my bed - the fluffy cozy kind. not those thin crap ones that grandmothers have.
does anyone have any measurements for a full/queen sized comforter?
i've looked at many different resources and have gotten seriously conflicting measurements. i've even tried measuring the one i have now, but it's all confusing the shit out of me...

I'm looking for something to do while studying for my exams (haha), and I wanted to knit a hat or something of the sort.

I've really looked through all posts in the memories and even googled it, but nothing looks I don't know... "stylish" enough.

Does anyone have anymore sites or patterns I could look through? Help would be very much appreciated, thanks!

I finally gave myself a swift kick in the buttocks this weekend passed to finish hairpins and brooches I had been working on over the last couple of months, just in time for Christmas (thank Bob).

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out for most of the part. I wanted them to have a homely, shabby chic sort of feel to them - something you'd find at a kooky country fair, yet, something that would go quite nicely with kimono, if need be. I think the combination of fabrics and the embellishments really add to that feeling. They are not perfect...but, I think that adds to their apeal. At least, I hope it adds to their apeal! :]

Hairpins & Brooches:

Many More! (understatement!) )

Thank you for looking :]
