So I finally took pictures of a lot of things I've made. Mostly jewelry, and not all of this is recent stuff. Actually, only one of these was made in the past month, but I just got a new camera and had to take pictures of EVERYTHING. This was my "I'm going to learn how to do close-ups" batch of film.

Anyway..
Enough talking, on with the pretties!

Adornments and a place to sit. )

And if you've got any tips or suggestions for my photos, let me know. I'm still learning, and will take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

I think I asked a version of this before, but I've been searching and searching, and can't find exactly what I want.

A friend of mine gave me some jewelry making stuffs, and among them is a loose citrine stone. I really really like it and want to make it into a ring.

I've been looking for a setting to put it, to no avail. I've looked at Fire Mountain Gems, and they have sterling settings (I'd prefer silver), but they only say something about the sizes going up to 7. I'm one of those people with large fingers, and I need at least an 8.5, if not a 9.

Does anyone know where I could get a larger sized ring setting? I really like this stone, and I'd prefer to do it myself instead of having to go to a jeweler and pay a higher price than necessary.

Any input would be appreciated.

For a dress like the one she's wearing Here
What kind of fabric would you suggest?
I want it stretchy, because zippers hate me, and I hate them right back...
Would lycra, stretch satin, or something else be best?

And has anyone ordered from www.baerfabrics.com before? How is their service?

Thanks again :)

So I have been trying to make purses lately. These are the first two little ones that I have made. The first one I tried to use a pattern and I ended up just making it the way I wanted to. I think the baby blanket pattern looks cute though. I wish I would have added a zipper. It would have been a cool makeup bag or something of the sorts.
The second one was supposed to be a larger bag like a clutch bag but it turned out a lot smaller than I inteded it to be. I think it is cute though.

I'm working on Valentines... and so far, all my experiments have turned ino flops. :(

I tried making crayon hearts, but they stuck to wax paper and broke.
My saftey pin beaded hearts dont really look like hearts.
My soap came out all mishaped....

I've gone through the memories and now I'm just down in the dumps.... anyone have any easy ideas, that arent just cards?

:(

Hey! My German teacher is selling conversation hearts that she got from Germany. I plan on picking up a few boxes, but I wanted to make one heart into a pendant. Can any of you recommend a coating that'll preserve it and make it shiny without messing up the wording? I thought it'd be cool to have a conversation heart necklace that says sweetheart in German. ^_^

Mmkay, I bought this PJ shirt at Goodwill a while ago, but have never really slept in it. It's red with white hearts on it, so I thought "Ooh! I can make a cute Valentine's Day skirt out of this!" But I don't really know what to do. I also have an old pair of white jeans I can use. Do you think I should do a panelled skirt ((alternating white and hearts))? Or maybe a white denim skirt with pleats at the bottom made out of the shirt, and some patches too? Maybe make a little bow out of the sleeves or something? I don't know.

This is what I have at my disposal:

((already ripped the sleeves off the shirt))

I'd like to know what you guys think!!

Hi!

I have a couple of handles similar to this one :

What I wonder is how I would do a bag for it? Because I can't just sew 2 pieces together, then the opening would be to narrow.
Any help or a tutorial would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Linda

Went to a MUCH better bead store today (any Brisbane, Queensland people here it's called Bead With Me on Dennis Rd Springwood) and I got a heap of beads for just $11. Much better shopping experience than at BTC in the City.

Anyway, on to the good stuff )

okay, so yes, i did read the memories. i didn't find anything on this.

say one were to put shapes on a shirt (stuck down well), then spray bleach over them so that the shape gets no bleach and the surrounding area does.

do you know what i'm talking about? making shadows of shapes, almost?

okay so my question is how much do you need to dilute the bleach...i.e. ____ parts water to _____ part bleach....and do you wash off the shirt immediately after doing this or wait how many minutes...

sorry if this makes no sense.

Okay, I'm the Service VP for a coed service organization at my university and our chapter has different colored sequins to put on the back of our service pins to designate total hour ranks.
The problem is, they have stopped selling those kind of sequins in the area and I have tried to look them up online, but basically I know nothing about the subject.

picture of the sequins and pin )

So my question is, where can I find sequins and if I'm completely out of luck forever, can anyone suggest alternative recognitions?

If this question is inappropriate or should be in another community, I'll delete this entry.
Thank you so much!

This is my first quilt. I did everything on this one except for the crazy star/swirly stitching. I sent it off to some place that has a special machine to do that. I'm almost done with my second one now (made out of old band shirts). I'll post pictures of that one once it's done.

I'm new here, though I've been reading the posts for about a week now. I have recently got into crocheting, and it's becoming really enjoyable. I like to sew a little, but I'm not all that great at it. Other artsy things I like are computer related... graphics design and things like that.

Well if you want to see a couple things I've made recently...

On a side note, when I was a little kid, I used to enjoy making those little friendship bracelets that look like this with tying knots and stuff. Did anyone else ever do this? Do these actually have an official name as a craft, or are they just friendship bracelets?

**UPDATE** Pictures have since disappeared due to ISP change. You can see pictures at the Instructable page:

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-kanzashi-folded-fabric-flower-pin/

This is my very first tutorial so I just want to say if you have any questions or if you have a better way of explaining something, please let me know because I found out these things are hard and I commend the people who can explain things clearly! A lot of this is very origami-like, so if you have experience, you are one step ahead, but anyone can make these. These pins are very much like the kanzashi pins I have seen recently. I have no idea if this is actually how to make them, this is just the way I made up to make something similiar.

Lots of pictures tutorial for making flower pin/hair clip )

how the heck do you make a stencil out of an actual picture and have it actually turn out decent enough to be recognizable??? *going insane*

Hi all,

I'm wondering if you could tell me about the safety of cured resin against the skin? I'm working on some jewelry and while I know it's toxic to work with, is it safe to wear, and if not..what can I use to protect it? Thanks!
