Dominos?

I just rediscovered a set of dominos I have... I think they are really cool because they are green and have nice dragon designs on the back. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for a craft I could use them in? I searched the web and found something about stamping, but I looked at that, and it really changes the whole look of the domino around. I kind of wanted to have them keep their original appearance because they look so neat. So... any ideas? Sadly, they're too big for earrings... that was my first idea.

My daughter just acquired a couple pet rats (kind of creepy, but I'm working through it). To make the best of the situation, and not invest a bunch of cash into something, I modified a bird cage and stand that I got for $2 at a garage sale many moons ago...

more pix of the rat palace and some other projects... )

I need to get some new fabric tonight - does anyone have a 50% or 40% off in-store coupon they can share? I know some people get them through their email . . . .

A friend of mine wanted me to make her an ipod cover, and it took me all of three minutes, so I figured it would be a good thing to start cranking out for the site. However, ipods don't really exist in my world (or, rather, a spare three hundred bucks doesn't exist in my world) and I've just found out (surprise to no one) that every ipod has to be a different shape, like an ass.
So, anyway, I have the measurements for a 40G 3rd generation ipod. Does anybody have any different ipods that they wouldn't mind tossing the measurements for on here? I would be greatly appreciative. And I'd even take pictures of the finished cover with a cardboard ipod that I made (hey, a girl needs a guide) inside of it once I find my oft-misplaced camera. As if everyone in the world of livejournal hasn't already made an ipod cover. Whatever.

Tuesday on my day off.. I was feeling rather crafty. [p.s. lots pictures below!!!!]
My boyfriend bought me these clothespins for another project I was doing and then I had a LOT left over.
So i figured I had to do something with them.
So I decorated a bunch of them.

But I thought about sending them to random people [for free] who would want with..along with a plain one
and then seeing what the create of them [if the post a picture somewhere's]
If anyone is interested comment!

hi all,

i bought a red sarong and as it turns out, the dye on it runs a lot when wet! just wondering if anyone knows how i can cure it and prevent it from running in the future? i'm travelling in southeast asia right now so a method that doesn't require any special products would be great!

thanks!

okay- this is a stupid thing that i've done.
i got one of those speedball screenpainting kits for my birthday a while ago...and, well, i was supposed to take this screenpainting class, but- the mullet of it- i busted open the fabric paint last night and painted this tree on something i want to make into a dress.
question: will it stay? did i need to do something else to the paint to make it stick? i'm worried about putting it in the washer....
YIKES

Do any of you craftgrrls or boys live in or near Victoria, British Columbia?
Because I am moving soon, and I have TONS of craft and art supplies that will be orphaned unless I can find happy homes for them...

This includes:

fabric scraps
sewing notions (zippers, bias tape, elastic, etc.)
acrylic paints (varying qualities, but mostly the cheap student kind)
a few paint brushes
poster board scraps
beads (many sizes and kinds)
miscellaneous drawing implements
& lots of other stuff...

Most of this stuff is NOT in pristine condition, but there are some nicer things too...
And to clarify, I am happy to give all/any of it away, absolutely FREE! Just come and get it! Please!!

Thought you guys might enjoy this. It's a website that lets you order some free swatches of fabrics, etc. It only lets you order 10 per order, but i think you can make as many orders as you want! Not sure, though. I can't wait to get mine.

I bought this zebra print skirt for a buck or two from the thrift store. I planned on dying it purple but aperantly fake fur doesn't accept dye well. At least this stuff didn't. So I colored the stripes rainbowy with sharpies instead...

I work at my university's study abroad office and I've found that the promotional books published by study abroad companies make for excellent collage-making material. They have lots of glossy pictures of unrealistically happy students in popular tourist destinations and other such things. Most of these companies will send you their books for free. Here's a list, if anyone's interested. Too lazy to link so fire up that Google:

AustraLearn
CIEE (www.ciee.org)
SACI in Florence, Italy (if you're lucky, you'll even get a poster)
ISA (www.studiesabroad.com)
American Intercontinental University in London
CEA (www.gowithcea.com)
Arcadia University (www.arcadia.edu/cea)
Boston University
School for Field Studies (for pics of beaches and turtles)
IES (www.iesabroad.com)
ISA-Butler

Enjoy.

A while ago I know someone posted a pattern for their Final Fantasy scarf, with Fighter and Black Mage and such. Now I know it wasn't too long ago, but for the life of me I can't find it. There was also a Space Invaders scarf, but I don't know if someone posted the pattern for it.

I'm asking because I was rambling to a friend about how awesome they are in class today and she really wants me to find her the examples/tutorials/patterns as she has been thinking of doing something similar, but didn't know where to start.

Any and all help is appreciated, and while I wait I'll search the memories for a second time :)

Thanks in advance

p.s. (as this always seems to happen - GLOOMY!)

I'm making a hat as a gift for my boyfriend's adorable little niece. She's about 2 1/2 years old.. but I havne't seen her in a while, so I'm having trouble guessing what the diameter and length of the hat should be. Not sure yet if I'm going to knit or crochet it; but anyhoo - to those in the know, or to those with kids this age, generally how big should I make the hat?

Thanks a bunch. :)

Oh, and I'm using Red Heart Baby Clouds, so the hat will be somewhat stretchy if I do my stitches loosely. :)

Ok for Valentines Day I want to make my boyfriend a blanket.
I want to make it out of fleece with a piece of white cotton in the middle with pictures of us on it.

I was thinking I would get 2 different styles of fleece (one for the back and one for the front) but like when you buy the fabric its only like a certain width which isnt wide enough for a blanket, so I was wondering how I could go about sewing this together so it doesn't look tacky with a seam going down the middle of the blanket?

And for sewing the back and the front together should I just sew it all around the outer edges or some other way?

and For the pictures in the middle should I buy an iron on paper or something else because I don't have a printer I could use, so is there a store that would print pictures for me onto iron on paper? And should I use white cotton and just sew the square in the middle?

I'm sorry for all the questions (and the long post) but if anyone could help it would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

So I've lucked into a mass amount of vintage tin ceiling tiles(?) I saw some stunning art made from these by using "various chemicals, paints, laquers, and glazes" painted over them. That was the description given by the artists, anyway. I've looked everywhere for a link to some photos, but can't find any. What I saw was from American Antique Tin Emporium somewhere in illinois..
Anyone have any ideas that might be a little more specific as to how to achieve this effect?
