On Monday I decided I neeeded a cool belt to wear to school, so all week I thought about exactly what kinda belt I would want...and then i made it - but i think it turned out more as a piece of art than anything else. O well. my original belt )
I cut the ends of an old belt I had, and covered it in white cloth, then went crazy with my bright polka dot theme

Hi all,

I have had no problems popping resin pieces out of harder, shinier molds. But I'm playing around with a more flexible yet textured mold and I'm having difficulties with the removal.

Is there anything I can use in my house to try next time? I don't want to wait a week for a delivery and I don't have a craft store within an hour's distance from me...so, Pam spray? Vaseline? Heh.

Thank you!

So, you know those buttons/pins made from bottlecaps. I have plenty of bottlecaps, pin things for the bag, pictures and things to put in them, now I just need to know what that clear stuff is that they fill it with. Does anyone know?
[identity profile] rockmemyrtle.livejournal.com
I have a bunch of vintage dresses that fit except (they're supposed to be short but) they're a bit toooo short. Any creative ideas?

So I was scanning the new ad page for my local Hobby Lobby, and Deco Art Liquid Beadz are on sale this week. I have never seen these before, and I am so very very intreagued. Does anyone here know anything about them? Is it paint? Is it beads pre-stuck in glue? And have people been happy with them in the past?
[identity profile] faerieariel.livejournal.com
Quick Question - What kind of glue do I put on the knot of that stretchy plastic-elastic stuff. I tried GS hypo, but that was a disaster, and I can literally sit and watch a new knot untie itself in front of my eyes. Should I be crimping it instead?

I have been busy, busy, busy. Want to take a peek? I've never posted anything but my yarn here before. So, here's that and more of my other craftiness hiding behind the cut.

My newest two skeins:
Hand-dyed wool in 3 juicy colors

Hand-dyed wool plyed with metallic purple thread

I have a skirt that fits around my waist like 2 inches above my bellybutton. It's pretty old... it was a hand me down, so I guess that was the style then. Anyway, I prefer to wear skirts around my hips just below my bellybutton. I would like to change it so I could wear it this way... is that possible? Would I just take the part of it that goes around my hips now (which is like several inches below the current waistline) and make that the new waistline, and then cut the part above that off? Or is there a way to like make it wider? I don't mind if it ends up being shorter because it's a pretty long skirt as it is. Thanks for any help.

i've heard of magnetic spray, where if you spray it on a wall the area becomes magnetic. this really doesnt make sense to me, thinking of it scientifically. has anyone ever tried it? i can see it working for a short amount of time, but how about long term?
[identity profile] bluevelouria.livejournal.com
for those of you who have seen empire records, does anyone know what the front of mark's shirt says? i can't really make it out, but i was wondering because i wanted to make a "mark inspired" shirt.

Voulez Vous Crochet Avec Moi?

Dear chicago stitchers 'n bitchers,

Please forgive my bum-rushing your email list.

I'm writing to tell you about my latest Stitch 'n Bitch book project, and to invite you to contribute to it. The subject of this next book is going to be crochet. I know ~blasphemy!!~ but where I'm from, if you're a needleworker you're a needleworker, and there's no reason not to add more mad skillz to your repertoire. Besides, crochet has it's benefits: It's much easier to do on the beach (I always pick up a few crochet projects over the summer); if you're already a knitter, some of your skills can easily translate over to crochet (especially if you knit left-handed); and crocheting is just plain better at certain things than knitting is. This book will be the perfect crochet primer for both total newbies as well as those with developed knitting skills, and will include special "for knitters only" tips to help you get through the rough spots. Not only that, even if you've never felt the urge to get hooking before, the projects in this book will be so cool, they'll make you want to give it a try.

Thought I share what I made (sorry for the bad quality on the pics): This is what happens when i was having cramps and stuck at home. TMI, I know, but I was productive! ;P

I have a big project to do for English, and I'm hoping some of you crafty girls have knowledge on the fashion, hair, make-up, shoes, whatever, of the time of King Arthur. ANY information whatsoever would be awesome, including websites and pictures. Even anyone who makes clothing like that today would be greatly helpful...I know this isn't totally on subject, but I hope you can help me! =)

Thanks so much!

Since everyone was so pleased with the ninendo blanket I made, I decided to make a tutorial for you guys.

Actually, in the process, I realized just how simple it was to make. I guess if I'd had instructions it would have gone a lot quicker and more smoothly.

Anyway. hope it makes sense. :)

the 'how to' )

thanks guys.

So, I just made this journal cover )and I am wondering the best way to put notebook and sketchbook paper into it. Any picture type tutorials or easy to understand word-only tutorials would be fannnntastic! Thanks darlings!

EDIT: I am looking for a way that only uses glue if possible, I don't have access to any other method as of this moment. <3

The labours of this weekend.

My very first attempts at DIY screenprinting.
I stretched tulle over a picture frame i got onsale at JoAnnes, then I modgepodged it and let it dry. I'm going to use a finer material for my screen next time and a different glue. Modge Podge warped evrey time I rinsed the screen. I'm thinking I could use Carpenter's Glue or Gorilla Glue next time?
I bought an enourmous tub of white screenprinting ink today because the white acrylics weren't cutting it, so I'll finish the 50 other shirts next weekend. This is an example of an inside joke explosion.

I've been around here for a pretty long time, but I've never posted any pics. So here are my first pics here...

Here's what I made my sweetie for Valentine's Day!! )

Behind the cut cause the pics are big. Sorry I didn't have time to resize them! The pillows are far from perfect...in a bit of a hurry! I procrastinate WAY too long sometimes!! I'm giving these to him tonight...probably!!

Is there anyway to make icing for cookies out of strawberries?

Happy almost Valentine's Day.

[identity profile] crayola-bomb.livejournal.com
The Valentine's day gifts, with very little detail, bad photos, and glitter everywhere, oh dear.

I love commercialized holidays )

And a V-day tip: Carry around a ton of candy/chocolate. That way, if someone gets you something, and you have nothing for them, at least you have candy!

Help!

I'm really sad. My sister's dolly is basically decapitated, because the seam or whatever that was holding her head on to her body ripped... it's holding on by a thread. Which makes my sister really sad, because she loves her dolly. And being as it's nearly decapitated, this means she can no longer sleep with it. ;; I'd like to fix it for her, but I don't even know how to go about it.

Does anyone know how to fix dollies? )

Any ideas? <3 Please help if you can. I'd really love for her to be able to sleep with her dolly again.

Miss me?

So... I've been a member of this community for ages, and I make stuff all the time, but I never post anything.

Until now, apparently.

I made a bunch of valentines out of construction paper and magazine cutouts... (14 pictures) )

So i wanted to make a napoleon shirt..but i dunno what or how I should do it. I'm not sure which quote i should use for it. any good ideas?

So I made these little birds out of shrinky dink plastic:

And now I want to add a pinback to it to make it into a small brooch, but I don't know what kind of glue to use. I tried using Weldbond, which is supposed to glue all sorts of things lincluding glass and plastic and tiles. It worked at first, but if you mess around with the pin too much (like push it to one side), the pinback pops off easily.

I went to thistothat.com to see what they recommend, but for metal to plastic they were recommending all these metal epoxies. I don't think I really need something like for a tiny project like this. I need some industrial strength adhesive to make it really stick. Any advice?

This is the art for a card I designed. Used a mix of gell ink pens and India ink brush style pens for this:

It turned out so well that I tried those India ink pens on a b/w I finished last month:
