I've been so obsessed with Safe Clothes lately (www.safeclothes.com) the teal and white scheme has infiltrated my subconscious:

hey everyone. My name is Karen and I have been lurking around these parts for awhile now and I just recently got unlazy enough to post some stuff on here.

So a few months ago I was in Wal-Mart and saw the best fabric and I knew I had to buy it even thought I didnt really know what I wanted to do with it. A few weeks ago, after some mishaps with gravity and keys, I made a cozy out of it for my Dell Dj but that was about it. Well, last night I had a couple of hours before I had to go to a meeting for work so I decided to bust it out and make a tote bag. ( I have a tote bag obsession but hate the store bought ones because they never fit over my hoodies or my jacket...so I have started to make my own).

Here are pictures of my very first tote bag, my *NEW* one, my DJ cozy, and a ring I made the other night (please ignore my funny face in this shot!)

Thanks!

Hello all you wonderful people!

I'm sorry this isnt very crafty, I promise to post soon all the stuff I've been making
but right now,I need some advice.

It's my one month anniversary with my gf today and I've left making her gift till the very last second.
I had planned on giving her a framed photo of the two of us, but my printer is out of ink :(
I don't know what else to do!
I want it to be something to do with pictures..
So, I was thinking of buying her a disposable camera and giving her a hand made photo album...
((Or maybe letting her use my digi cam and get the pictures printed..so I can weed out the ones I look scary in;)hehe ))
What do you think?
Silly? Cheesy?
any better ideas?
I need to make this by 9 am..so.. in about 3 hours. lol
Thanks for any help :)
It's much appreciated!!

There was a tutorial on the web for this, but I lost it. :(

Froggy is about 2.5" tall. I made him out of children's modeling clay. "Never dries out," that stuff.

This cake has one too, but I don't think this is where I got the idea from...

How is the back sposta look? Because on mine, it looks pretty poopy. Are you sposta fasten that somehow? It looks like 2 triangles...?

Calender

This is a free-calender that I got in the mail the other day,
it had an ugly picture on it so I cut hole in the plastic and replaced it with this one!

So I have invented a little thing that would allow you to turn any shirt into a bodysuit.

It would not be permanent, lasting only until you took the gizmo off again, and it would not damage your shirt.

It would be for layering -- shirt under overalls, shirt under sweater -- that is, for a smooth silhouette even in the deepest Chicago-type winter layering.

The "bodysuit" thus formed would snap open/shut at the crotch, as bodysuits do.

Would you be interested in such a gizmo? For five bucks, say? I ask not to sell it yet (I haven't made them, yet!) but to see if I should make the effort. Thanks very much (in advance) for any and all input!!

Long time lurker, occasional commenter, first time poster. I have this sad love for making chandelier earrings and minimal interest in wearing said earrings. My female family members and friends don't seem to mind this little issue of mine.

So far, none of the commercially available ironing board padding/covers are sufficient. I've made some in the past, but I'm just not totally happy with them.
Has anyone come up with one they really love? What did you use? Foam? Batting? What?
[identity profile] mszzzi.livejournal.com
I just finished up some Hello Kitty pants - they are fleece and super comfy. hee hee.

I love gifted fabric - it's from a stash of fleece a friend of mine gave me - the other stuff I've made cloth diaper covers out of for my son. :)

Picture here.

YAY!

Alright, so I've loved this tutorial since the moment I laid eyes on it. However I (rather, my dad...since it's his printer) have (has?) a question: does anybody know if it's safe to run freezer paper through a laser printer? He thinks that this was designed for inkjets, and will kill his (stupidiosdjfsiodjg) laser printer. Sorry if I've missed anything in the mems and this is a repeat...and thanks in advance!

I looked through the FAQ, but couldn't find an answer, so...

So, does anyone know how I can go about making embroidered tags for clothing? Like that I can put a designer's name on? My friend makes clothes for people she knows and wants to like... mark her stuff.

Help?

I finally have a cute little home for my ipod!

Do any of you have a favorite not-well-known fashion designer?
[identity profile] shuckiduck.livejournal.com
Okay, so here's the deal.
I go to shows (concerts, gigs, whatever) like crazy. I have been for years.
I've amassed quite a collection of band tees.
HOWEVER... there are a number of them that I know I rarely, if ever, wear, and some I won't because well, I don't like the designs anymore or they're just too big.

There's no way I'm going to throw them out... sometimes I long-term loan some to friends, but I'd rather not do that because well, there are a lot, and I'd like to keep whatever this "investment" is.

I do not want to cut them. I had already thought about altering them to fit but I'd rather try something else because quite frankly I have plenty, plenty of band tees.

I was thinking something along the lines of a quilt, but I'm not sure how exactly to carry that out. Some of the shirts have designs on both sides (and I have plenty of pillows). Hypothetically, if I seam-ripped whatever I sewed together apart, I'd be able to get the shirt off intact. I was thinking get a plain no-sew fleece and sew it to that... but I want some input.

I've made a few things but haven't posted them yet. They include a couple of super-functional iPod cozies (read: not just pouches this time!) and a hat. Eventually. I mean it.

thanks all in advance...

While trying to make a "Be back soon" page for my website, I found this image:

And because my business is called Trisaratops! I immediately went to the library to find a book on how to fold origami dinosaurs.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find it anywhere.
I was wondering if anyone had seen instructions on how to do this.
These would be PERFECT for promotional items to put in with orders.

Thanks for your help!

I'm almost done with the raffia purse and I whipped out this applique for the front tonight.

I love felt...felty felt felt.

Well, I didn't exactly craft anything new (yet!), but my heart skipped a couple of beats when I found this in a thrift store. Since I know a lot of you are interested in sewing, and a lot of you are interested in vintage things, I just thought I'd share my elation (and maybe gloat a little).

Powder blue Singer 348 sewing machine, made in 1966. )

Whoever owned it took care of it very, very lovingly. The engine is well-maintained, and the machine is in excellent running order. I did a few test different test stitches and stuff, and everything came up perfectly. It even has spare bobbins, feet and other attachments!

Best part? It was only $AU30! And even if the machine didn't work, it would have been worth it just for its colour and the pictures in the manual!
