ok.

so i looked through the memories, but to no avail.

how do i make those fabric flowers that people have been putting on pins, hair clips, etc? not the one with the pointy petals, but the ones with the folded over, rounded petals? using an example from someone who posted an earlier entry, this is the kind of fabric flower i'm talking about:

if anyone has a tutorial, or knows of one, please let me know! thank you!

Question: I've been saving up my tea bag wrappers and have been wracking my brain for something to do with them. I have a lot, so a quantity restriction definitely isn't the main concern here. Like, I said I'm having a 'creative-ideas-block'. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Suggestion: To the mods, it would be so awesome if you would make a section in the memories for iPod cozies and the like. I think it would be greatlly resourceful :)

I wanted to thank everyone again for responses to my last few posts. My email wasn't being sent to me properly, so I'm in the process of going back and trying to respond to each individual comment, so bear with me.

I have the tulips set out in my kitchen, just let them wilt as they would and the petals are still fine for what I had in mind. I never actually intended for them to be picture perfect. More like a potpourri texture. I think doing the same with the rest of the flowers I got will work just fine. The daylily smell sooo wonderful! So pretty. I really hate to see them wilt.

At any rate, I have another craft-tastic pondering. How on earth might I color acrylic water or resin? Think of times you might have seen those sculpted figures in various shops, that appear to be some form of liquid spilling. I think the most popular would be milk or coffee, like these:

http://www.fauxfooddiner.com/spilled_milk/spilt_milk.jpg

http://www.fauxfooddiner.com/spilled_dc/dc_spill.jpg

http://www.fauxfooddiner.com/k/bud_spill.jpg

I'm basically looking to try and get the same sort of coloration you'd find in a cup of coffee, be it straight black coffee, or more perferably coffee with cream added:

http://i19.ebayimg.com/03/i/02/55/8b/85_1.JPG

I know with the acrylic water I have used, it states very clearly not to mix it with real water, because it will ruin the mixture's ability to set. I was pondering just taking some and putting it in a mug and then painting over it with craft acrylic paints, but it wouldn't give me the same sort of effect. I tried once before to pour craft acrylic into the acrylic water, and all it did was suspend it in the solution, it didn't actually color anything, though there was some slight color bleeding, but that's to be expectd. It didn't dye the solution.

Any thoughts on how to make it work?

Now onto the sharing!

Sparklies back here... )

Sculptures and more jewelry to come later, once I get good pictures taken.

hi! :)

where do you ladies buy your jewelry making stuff (mainly earring loops - like these, but also the little closures for necklaces)?

i went to michael's jewelry aisle, but the earring loops i wanted came in a box set with other junk i didn't need. i don't remember the brand. the employee then directed me to a package of generic, cheaper craft accessories (pins, earring loops, clasps, everything, etc.) but the earring loops were smaller than i wanted, and also looked dirty (i think it was just the dark color of the metal), and had no information as to what the earring loops were made out of.

i was wondering what brand i should be on the lookout for, and where i could find them. online stores are good, too. :)

thanks so much! <3

oh, and p.s. if anyone could also recommend good bead sites, that'd be awesome, too!

I want to print greeting cards on a the Gocco printer my friend leant me, but don't have any envelopes.

Can anyone recommend a good place (or web site) to order bulk envelopes from? i need 5" x 6" (quater size, not sure what it's called) and recycled paper would be a plus.

Thanks in advance! i'm overwhelmed by the amt. of paper web sites i'm finding... with no luck.

OK, a while ago I bought some acrylic cat face beads from Walmart.  At the same time I bought some of these, and they are the same style, made by the same company (but I don't remember the name.)

Anywho, I cannot find the cat face beads anywhere!  Walmart is no help as I was told they "just get what they get."

So... if anyone has seen cat face acrylic beads in the same style as the beads I linked to, please let me know.  I REALLY want some and am only posting my plea here as a last resort.

Thanks!

I want to start off by saying I like working with vinyl far more than faux fur. My throat is sooo sore today from the little puffs of fur that come loose when you cut this fabric. I must remember to wear a dust mask next time I work with this material.

I really admire Emilie Autumn and the rose necklace was inspired by her song, Rose Red.

Here are [livejournal.com profile] spookbaby's and my latest creation. My friends were getting Married and needed "cake toppers". We used our brains and "Spooks" drawing skills and patience and made these from a BLYTHE Petite doll and a Mr.Clean doll.

i'm in the market for a serger and was wondering brands other people here have or have used and can thus recommend to me. i'm looking at a "Brother 929D free arm serger" right now, but wanted to get some opinions before actually busting out my credit card.
thanks!

Okay, so, I have this poster, and I absolutely adore the print, however the poster itself is in less-than-wall-hanging quality. The print is fairly common so I've decided to just buy a new print of it and trash the old one. I can't bring myself to throw it away though, so I want to recycle it into some sort of craft! huzzah. I really dont want to make it into a bag/purse because I already have a lot of purses and I dont know how sturdy they are.
I think attaching it to shoes some how would be really awesome, but I have no idea if that would even be possible.

So, does anyone have any ideas other than making a bag out of it?
[identity profile] soul-sick.livejournal.com
I just started a new job today at an eBAY place. They have a LARGE amount of fancy gowns without ANY tags inside at all. Of course, it's now my job to figure out the measurements/sizes of these gowns for when they put them on auction.

I need to know of any links that would describe different types/styles of gowns and fancy dresses, please. Also, what's the best way to get the most accurate measurements for these dresses (i.e. hanging on a hanger or put on a mannequin, which I'm not sure I have access to) and where is it necessary to actually measure them?

Thanks so much in advance!
[identity profile] yowsah.livejournal.com
ok, so i made these pins last semester:

(ignore the numbers, they were for sale at one point, but i love them too much to sell them)

i draw that girl on everything. (who is a stick version of me - the same as my LJ icon) i want to make some more like this - with the whole sort of fragmented image theme but i'm having a total loss of anything else to do. (my ideas are often far too fleeting for me to get anything done.)

what else do you guys think would look cute?

These spots are for text links and they will be up for 3 months. If you are interested please email me with this info.

2. Description (40 characters max)
3. The url you want the link to point to

Yay Okay so this is the clutch I just finished. I love the strawberry pattern.
[identity profile] leopardwolf.livejournal.com
The feedback I got from my last post about resin coffee is much appreciated, and I have lots of wild ideas floating about.

Right now I have more sparklie goodness to share. I'm working crazy on some sculpture items right now, and getting pictures taken of things that are already finished. Hope to have some posted later tonight or tomorrow.

On to sparklies! These are some of my more recent pride and joys.

Lots of work put into them.

Many images back here... )

Feedback is appreciated! I have a slapdash sort of tutorial I put together a few months ago for simple jewelry making. It's in Word doc. format right now, but I was considering converting it and posting it to share. Would anyone be interested in seeing it?
