Pleating?

Quick question.

Is regular pleating used to get the poofy-ish look of the two skirts behind the cut?
Cos im afraid if I just pleat regularly, I'll get a more "straight" look... do I have to pleat in a special way, or with certain spacing?

Any help will be appreciated :)

So, for anyone who doesn't know, I am a Metals/Jewelry major. And we (the department) are having a sale. The idea was supposed to ne "Love/Hate"...because it is a "So you ruined Valentine's Day" sale. But I didnt want to do mushy "I love you" love and hate stuff so I used images that you love to hate. POP ICONS. yay. and I am almost done with the whole set. There will be 12 when I'm done, all different.

Each ring is 18 ga. sterling silver, and adjustable. The bezels are also sterling but I purchased them because they are wonderfully cheesy and scalloped. The "stone" is a cheap-o rhinestone from the craft store.

I'm a little paranoid that no one will know who they are and so I am not going to tell you instead I want you to guess. Thanks!

and on with the show! )

Hey everyone I am dying again!
I decided I would try easter egg dye this time, I had some cups that just said to add water.
Do I still need to put vinegar in there?
Also how long should I keep them in the dye total?
I have been doing like I did last time with 2 minutes on and 2 minutes off in the microwave.
Any advice would help, I have a lot more to do soon.
Also if anyone has used Wiltons cake dye I could use some info on that too, I am trying that next.
Thanks in advance everyone.

i'm planning to mod podge my wall but i'm a little confused as to which mod podge to use. i want a matte finish, so i was thinking of getting the mod podge matte, but then i see they have mod podge specifically for walls. i predict that i'll be needing lots and lots of it, and i've found that i can get a gallon of the matte version. it's still okay to shellac on walls, right?

please help me!

1. I want to paint my cd player. Is there a special way to go about this? Should I sand it first? What kind of paints should I use? How should I seal it?

2. I am starting the coolest project ever. I'm doing a group project for A Clockwork Orange. I've already read the book so I have extra time to get this done, so that I can make it really cool. Basically, I'm going to make a dollhouse and have each room be representative of an important part of the plot. I'm planning on using foam board to construct it, and scrapbooking paper to cover it since it comes in all kinds of cool patterns. I have a few ideas, but I would love your crafty input. Also, is there a specific place I can by dollhouse accesories? Otherwise I'm just going to use clay and such.

Thanks in advance for your input!

one of the things that annoys me when i go out to take pictures is that i never have anything to put my polaroids in so they don't get squished.

so i figured i'd make a little protector thingy for them.

i call it the polaroid pocket - patent pending.. )

Hi!

I'm going to a party tomorrow because my friend has just moved to a new apartment. I'm thinking of embroiding a kitchen towel (tea towel type, free embroidery) for her but I don't know what pattern to use!

She's really special, funny, ironic and also kind of neurotic so I would like to do something cool. I thought about a skulle but it would be more fun if it was something fun and witty. So if anyone has any suggestion, it doesn't have to be a pattern an idea would do, please tell me!

Thanks, Linda

Soap Pics

I've been making hot-process handmade soap for a while now, but I've never shown you guys the pictures. The reason? Didn't know how to post them. But thanks to some help from the folks in [livejournal.com profile] hip_domestics, I can finally share some photos with you guys.

These are just two types of soap that I make. I don't have pictures of the rest, but I will some time soon. They'll even be put on my website eventually. http://www.pamperedpanda.com

Enjoy. :)

hey everybody!

yesterday i posted some pictures of these paper balls that i made and have hanging up in my room.
a few people asked how i made them...so here's a tutorial!

a thank-you-card i made. it's nothing really special, just a cartoon (um, of a rabbit, in case you were trying to figure out what that animal is) i drew sewn onto a blank card with yarn. sort of a cute idea, i guess. maybe i should have made a less manic looking bunny.

Hiiiii. I need some ideas!

My sister works at a daycare, and she just had to go to a conference thingy for work. And somebody at the conference suggested they make a "tattle bear." It's like a poster of a bear that you stick on the wall, and instead of the little 3 year olds coming to you saying "He LOOKED at me! He looked at me!", you tell them to go tattle to the tattle bear. I didn't think the kids would go for this, but my sister says they will.

So...she wants me to make her a "tattle something."

She doesn't like the idea of a bear. )

You know how little kids are. They always want the brands of things they see on tv. I was digging through junk and found my old rainbow Ribbon Dancer. That's right.. i bought a ribbon tied to a stick. I decided that it served a better purpose as a book covering, so that is what it became.

I took this photo on Kodak EIR - Color Infrared film, had it processed as a slide (E-6), then printed the slide on Polaroid 669 film via a Daylab slide printer. Then I did an emulsion lift (boiled the image off of the paper backing), and transferred the image to this piece of hand-made paper made by [livejournal.com profile] dalbino83. The paper is beautiful, it's recycled from junk mail! Donna posted a tutorial on this process recently.

Also, I have a tutorial posted as an article on APUG.org if anyone is interested in the Polaroid Emulsion Lift process.

edited to add: This is what the slide looks like )

Hi! :) So, I've been swamped, so I had set aside this small project.. until now!

(I said to my history book, "Take this you boring lump of papers! I am crocheting tonight!")

Meet Ms. Ponderosa Lemon! :)

Hand-crocheted with yellow acrylic yarn, and stuffed with polyester fiber-fil. She's the newest addition to the mmm-fruit! family. :)

Oh, I also printed out some of these with my site logo. I've been wanting to see my pixelated fruits in print. :)

I am super duct tape crazy lately. I made a black purse (but I think my mom stole it for her own use because I cant find it to take a picture). I made this wristlet this afternoon while watching Hellsing (I want to make a duct tape Alucard hat!)

Anyway, here it is.

i was just wondering. I already looked in the memories but couldn't find anything. does any one know where i can get a Royal yarn ball winder, or anything as good, for cheap? All of the one's i've come across are like $30-$40. I know that may not seem like much, but i'm on budget because of bills and grocery money. Any one have any idea? I also already checks on ebay, again, the good ones are 30-40
