so for a long long time now i've been working on this scrapbook for my boyfriend. and it's taken me an extremely long amount of days of finding pictures, lyrics, printing off everything, then gluesticking... so 3 gluesticks, hundreds of pieces of paper, a whole boatload of printer ink (the computer lab at my school's though, hehehe.), magazines, and lots of my time... this is the finished product (sort of, i have one page that's unfinished.) also, the way the book works is the left-side pages are songs, books, movies, and tv shows that we both like or he likes a whole lot.

oh and under the cut, there are a bunch of pictures, BUT they are pretty small so they'll load really quickly. there are descriptions at the bottom since some of the pictures you'd have no idea what's on the pages.. now just don't hate me for such a huge post, please. ha.. this just took me a long time.

we do not remember days... we remember moments. )

In order to prove that I really can eke out even the very last shred of use from a pair of thrift store jeans, I made this purse. Only after they were so mangled that I couldn't wear them without facing indecent exposure charges, of course :)

Leave me your address,
and i will write you a letter, send you a small package, or make something and send it to you.

it doesnt matter if i know you personally or not.
I will not expect anything in return.

Then I will make a book.
I'm also not creepy, i promise.

I'm serious, I want everyone to help me do this.
comments will be screened for privacy.

sorry in advance for any cross-posting.

...overstuffed, bloated fleece walrus with headphones and a lightsaber.

Basically, today is my friend's 16th birthday, and I am dirt poor, so last night I decided I'd make her something. So I went up to my room, got out the scissors and thread, and this is what appeared.

more about the walrus (with more photos) )

Anyone know how to do transfers onto tiles? I saw it done on some crafts show on the teevee a while back, but don't remember the details.
All I can recall is that they ironed them on, then used a sealer.
I also heard something about using "transfer medium", but that was a totally different technique...

Hiya,

I have not had much free time for crafts, but here are some of the things I've been making.

A Mod Podge question:

I've tried using this stuff to paste photos on boxes as well as ply wood and I swear anything I put it on, it makes the photo wrinkle.
I'm applying a thin coat onto the surface with an artist brush and then applying the picture/magazine clipping/paper...
Am I doing something wrong?

I've been looking for some inspiration for sewing an ipod case. Just different variations and designs. I know I've seen lots of examples in here, but now I can't find any. I've searched through all the obvious memory catagories but no luck. Anyone have any links? Twould be much appreciated.

Hey! I havent posted in a while! I wanted to show off two new projects! A dress and two pink Flying Squrills! ^_^ Whee!

I looked through the memories, but couldn't find much.
I was wondering if anyone had any hair accessories tutorials, pics, ideas.. thanks!

Also, I bought a suitcase to lug around all my crafty wares in, and it's ugly as sin. I was wondering what kind of paint I would use to paint over it. It's like a hard plastic, and it's not smooth, it's a rough surface..
Also, how would I go about re-lining it? I think I had seen something about that here previously, but was also unable to find i.
Thanks

Well, I decided that i've hidden in the shadows for far too long, so I thought i'd share a few things i've made recently! Beware though, pretty picture heavy!

I want to make a pair of shoes covered in glitter or sequins. If I were to use glitter is there an adhesive that could be used to permanently affix the glitter to the shoe? Or possibly something to put over the glitter to make it stay on?

I decided to post my results from the Kool Aid hair dying I did on Sunday... I just did a few highlights with cherry Kool Aid, without bleaching it first... so it really looks as though I used regular hair dye, but it's a very cheap alternative! Also, does anyone know how long I can expect it to last?

Another pic behind the cut and a few other projects! )

Also, random question... There is a girl at my school who has medium/dark brown, straight hair that's layered. Today she came to school with her hair dyed almost a midnight blue... but not all of her hair. It was still brown at the top and kind of faded into a dark blue at the bottom, because each segment of her hair was dyed at different lengths so that it looked flowing... I thought it was really amazing. Does anyone know how to achieve this effect, and what kind of dye would get you dark blue (as opposed to the bright blue you see in a lot of dyes)? I wouldn't do this now because my parents would not be too happy, lol, but maybe sometime in my future. Thanks! <3 Laura

There was just a post about shoes, which reminded me of a show project I did when I was looking for the perfect wedding shoe. I couldn't find ones that I wanted, so I bought the plainest pair of sandals I could find, and I added glittery gold fabric, rhinestones, gold bugle beads, and faux pearl strands. There is some irridescent fine grain glitter on the cork heels as well, but it didn't really come out that great in the picture. I was very happy with the shoes, but they ended up not matching the way I had hoped they would. Ironically, I ended up buying the exact same pair of plain shoes I purchased before, and wearing those because they ended up being the best match.

See the sparkly shoe goodness here. )

Hey, obviously I'm a newbie, but I was introduced by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] vala_amaris, who helped me get in touch with my crafty creative side. So I decided that my first project would be a scarf. My only problem is I don't know how to make one. I really do like this scarf, the design is really neat. It doesn't have to be the same colors, I just like the length and the way she made it. I was hoping someone could provide a simple and easy idiots type guide for me so I could start on my own scarf. Also what kind of stuff should I buy, since I really don't know how to go about doing this. I did read the memories section, but was kind of at a lost. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have access to alot of sewing and craft stuff so that area has no worries, my only problem is I don't know what to use or what I might need. Thanks, I really appreciate any help given because I just can't wait to start making crafts that I will be proud of and can post like all you very talented people do.

Inspired by another purse somewhat like this on craftster, I made this bag for a friend of mine for christmas. She decided to leave it on the floor the other day, even though she has rats in her house. Kinda gross, huh? But yeah, this is the result. I really don't want to have to do this over again, but I don't know what else I can do to fix it.

i made these with novelty plastic magnifying glasses... they are about the size of a quarter.  i glued on the fairies (magazine clippings) and then to cover the paper i strung seed beads and glued them in a spiral.  i'm thinking they could be either earrings or pendants.  i'm toying around with glueing crystals, sequins, etc and painting them as well like mini canvases. Here is my first completed project from my metal working class (I still haven't put the backs on the buttons, but plan on finishing that on Thursday)
It is a business card holder with my boyfriends name etched in the front in Japanese.

So far I am loving this class! )

They were simple, but lately it's the only project that I've finished without getting sidetracked.
On the left pair, I didn't have the loops going the same way (d'oh) so they don't swing as freely.

I'm seeing Kings of Convenience next tuesday and really feel like I should bring something for them. Feist is opening as well.

I want to make them tiny stuffed animals, like pocket pals to "keep them company on tour". I've never made stuffed animals before. I want these to be small, like the size of a roll of duct tape. I want these to be somewhat 3d, and have no idea about how to go at it. Should I handsew, machine sew? I'm making these out of fuzzy animal print and fleece.

Here is what I plan on making:
Erlend - elephant
Eirik - tiger
Feist - bird

is there any advice anyone can offer? and if you've made these animals before, could you post a picture of them? because if I have a basic example, I can go off that. help!

thanks, xxxx.
