Does anyone know where I can buy choker ends like this..

..in the UK, or a site that will ship to me?

Also, do they have a specific name that I could search for them under? I'm coming up with little =(

You guys inspired me to get crafty, but it was tough. This is really the first sewing-related thing I've completed (besides small crafts as a child), and my first time using a sewing machine in about ten years. Be kind. I'm not sure if I like what I made, but that's probably because I've been working/staring at it for far too long.

Necklace I made last month from salvaged chain and charms and a few strands of purchased chain.

Close-up )
I showed this off recently and a bunch of people asked me if I could make and sell a replica. Since I made it from unique materials I had on hand, however, I don't know where exactly to find similar charms. Anyone have any good sources to recommend? I've been looking on ebay and found a few lots of animal charms that might work, but I wondered what else is out there.

i recently got a dozen or so small prints from a print exchange i participated in. i want to keep these prints and future ones in a book i wish to make. being that the collection is going to be constantly expanding, i want to be able to add pages to the book. there's only a couple ways i can think of to bind a book with the ability to add pages (screw and post, and a 3 ring style binding) but i'm not really fond of either of those.

does anyone have any suggestions for some creative ways to put together an album type book with out the use of post and screws or a binder spine?

I just KNOW one of you crafty ladies can help me with this.
I cannot FOR THE LIFE OF ME understand how to crochet in the round.
Every tutorial I find skips the part of explaining WHERE I'm supposed to put stitches.
For example, I really want to make the flowers from this Summer's Knit 1.
The pattern goes as follows-
Chain 5 and make a ring with first chain. Easy!
***To make the first round, chain 3 (which counts as first hdc) and chain 1
Continue to work (1 hdc anf chain 1) 11 times.....

***This is where I am lost. I have no idea where or how to chain or hdc anything!

Can someone PLEASE explain this. Perhaps with a picture? Or even more descriptions?
No one around here crochets so I am totally on my own!

Also, is this the same principle used for making arigumi? I've just gotta make one of those too!

THANK YOU

anyone have any suggestions as to how i might go about making holes in seashells to use as jewelry?

i thought perhaps a hand drill, but that doesn't seem to work at all. and i'm afraid a nail and hammer would shatter them.

Hey lovlies,

I'd like to make some drop earring with clusters of glass beads, and am wondering what the best material to hold the beads together would be? I'm thinking just some thin crafting wire. I've used this for necklaces back in the day, and they eventually snapped, but I figure that no one will be bending their earrings. Any suggestions?

(I mean that I'm going to buy hooks to make drop earring. Then, I'm going to cluster a bunch of diff sized and coloured beads together, and attach them to the hook. Make sense?)

Good Afternoon!

2nd Fabric Postcard in a series. I solved the problem of how to mail it safely while allowing it to be visible to all that handle it. I used one of my thousands of AOL cases, in this case a clear plastic one, took the inner tray out(it just popped out) replaced it with a piece of linen stationary and viola! A clear presentation case!

On the underside of the paper, yet inside the case, I can affix a mailing label or better yet on a separate piece of paper. I like the way it looks in the case...If anyone out there has more of the clear ones(they are approx. dvd case size), I would be happy to do a trade with you for some crafty stuff that I have.

Without further ado...

This is approx 4" x 6" and cut from a pieced quilt top that I made using a selection of my purple fabrics. It was then "sandwiched with 1/4" batting and a muslin backing.

First I sewed the bottom on wrong, then the handles inside the bag, then when the whole thing was done I realized I had sewn the lining inside out!

whoops.....guess this one is mine. :)

somewhere between 1500-2000 3.5" diskettes in our barn.

What to do?

Has anyone ever painted on them? They may make a nice room separator/curtain (I will be moving my sewing/craft area into the barn in the summer, it's not really a barn but a workshop on the first floor)

No idea too small! :)

Hey everyone! Wow, you're all such great crafters, makes me shy about my own things.. But I decided I'd stop lurking and post some of my work. Well, work.. Tiny projects that count as DIY-thingies and sometimes turn out nice. ^_^

hi there, first time poster, long time lurker here.

i have a question: does anyone know how to make a chain out of old cigarette packs? my friend has a few vintage frames and trivets made out of them, and i am so interested and want to learn how to weave them. i know how to make a gum chain, and i imagine it's much like that, but i really wouldn't even know where to start.

thanks so much!

Okay, I have a pants dilema.

I have these )
[identity profile] aurlie.livejournal.com

I'm a Dr.Seuss nut so it is no surprise that I would have a wall calendar.

So my question is there any good projects that I could do to incorporate/use the calendar to recycle it? I don't want it to collect dust I much rather use it in some creative way that would even make Mr.Geisel(Dr.Seuss) proud.

I'm stumped so if anyone has any suggestions or ideas t'would be super and I would be much obliged.

so i had these yellow flats that i loved but only in certain lights! especially in flourescent lights, they looked all funky and greenish. i'd be out somewhere and all annoyed that my feet were green and not awesome yellow. it was lame. so i got bored and covered them in fabric that i had laying around. i used a sharp pair of tiny scissors to cut around the heel and lots of darts and fabric glue.

huzzah! )

I just finished my first painting on canvas. Before I'd only painted on furniture and stuff.

So I ask: do I need to seal this somehow? It's acrylic paint if that helps. I usually use triple thick on the painted furniture stuff, but what should I do with canvas?

Thanks.

Hey gals...just wanted to brag myself up a little. I'm trying to lose some major weight and I'm doing Weight Watchers, which is totally working! I was afraid that if I only lost, say .2 pounds, I'd be discouraged because there was no tangible evidence. So I'm making...The Fatty Blanket! )
I'm also joining the BCS Stitch-N-Bitch, if any of you are in this area. *waves*

Hey guys...this has not a thing to do with crafts, but does anyone know what this song is called??? It goes "Do you like to scream, baby? I like to scream, baby! Do you like to dream, baby? I like to dream!" Tis in my head and will not leave.
Oh, and just to keep it on topic...here's a picture of my cat, Rufus, hard at work field-testing one of my larger blankets.
