So the wool dying process is over.
Sorta

Now it is drying in my bathtub. I hope to start on Sunday with it.

This stuff turned out a little different because I dyed two skeins at once and did it on the stove instead of the microwave.
My mom thought it was cool.

I wanted to make it rainbow-like...and totally remembered 7 colors to the rainbow...but then...when I was dyeing my purple, I realized I only had 6 colors and had to invent one..lol

I also discovered my camera has zoom.
You learn something new everyday...huh

I have decided to start naming stuff after the reason I make it.

So this yarn....will be called.... Khylie's Birthday...

Hi Everyone,
I have just started making  Kanzashi flowers and it is going quite well, but I was wondering, what is the ideal weight of fabric.  I have an old summer dress with a pretty floral pattern which would look good, but it is very light and I don't want to start ripping it up only to discover that it won't work and the fabric is too flimsy!
Thanks all
Nicola

Hey all. I just moved from FL to CT about two (i think, ive lost track) months ago. Ive always grown up in the city, and now im in extremely rural-out-in-the-middle-of-no-where-farm-woodsy area. I've been feeling so crafty for months now, and dying to make something, but unlike in the past, im drawing a blank for ideas. I was wondering if any of you can suggest any crafts I can do with basic stuff around the house, or maybe with outdoor stuff (ie. leaves, twigs, flowers, etc). I make atleast 3 trips to walmart a week to go to the craft section, and I just stand there staring drawing a blank. I really want to make something, but I have no idea what! So any suggestions are welcome.
If it helps any, I have duct-tape for any duct-tape projects, and Im really big into weird home homemade decorations, and anything nature related. I also have interest in photography and all natural stuff (ie herbs, soups, homemade remedies, homemade beauty products etc). Any help anyone can give would be greatly aprreciated, as Im going through a tough time right now, and need something to keep my mind occupied. THANK YOU ALL!

PS) I do have a nice sewing machine, but after years of not sewing, I have kinda lost any sort of school I once had. So that is there as an option, but Id prefer something that doesnt require alot of sewing! thx :)

I bought this absolutely beautiful Bernat (soft boucle) yarn a couple months ago and tonight I decided to go ahead and start making something with it...the only problem is that my first skein is horribly tangled and broken in a few places :( Most of the bits are really too small to be useful, so I'd really kind of like to return it, but I can't return it to the store. So I was thinking I'd go to the manufacturer, but I don't wanna bother if I'm not going to get anything out of it. Has anyone had any luck with that before?

thanks:)

I'm making small dolls' heads from fimo clay, and I have found one great problem: eyelashes. They can't be painted on, and the heads are too small (about 2"/5 cm) for me to use eye lashes for humans. Does anybody have an idea on how I can make semi-realistic eyelashes?

And while we're on the eyes, anybody got any tips for painting the eye brows without messing up the doll? I'm no Monet, to put it like that, and often prefer to use a pen, but this has proven disastrous at previous occasions, and I don't want to destroy this one. any tips?

ok i just started knitting wednesday and i was wondering if anyone had patters for a hat that doesn't involve knitting in the round?

also, i started a scarf and i decide it looks cooler when streched out vertically is there anyway to keep it streched out?

ooh, how hard is it too work with the fuzzy fashion yarns? i saw a really pretty one at walmart but it looks hard to knit with and im not about to ruin $7 yarn....

I made a halter top for my sister in law. The problem is she lives in CA and I live in Iowa. So I had my friend model the top for you guys so that it shows off the form. She wants one now. (I'll have to make hers a little larger as this one was for someone a little smaller) But thats ok! And it was funny. Granny Squares and all!

Yarn dying!

Kool-aid yarn!

From left to right the colors are: "I have yarn left, but not enough koolaid left to do anything cool, let's mix it all together", "Rockin' Red Cherry", a greenish color I got by mixing lemonade and blue raspberry ice, blue raspberry ice with tropical punch thrown in, lemonade and orange, grape!, lemonade and blue raspberry ice, and then fruit punch/natural/tropical punch.

I'm really thrilled with how vibrant the red came out. I've never been able to get it so red before, it's usually too pink. The purple looks really bad in this picture, but it's AWESOME in person. Really dark and rich. They're definitely my two favorites of this batch.

Now to get it off of my hands....

(Also, for those of you who were interested, my website is finally up. And while I don't want to link it on this page because it is for selling, you can find the link very easily in my userinfo).

arrrg. forgot to post this when i posted the kitty bed. we also made a bed for us. we were just sleeping on a futon mattress on the floor. (i actually asked for help here a long time ago.) it's not quite finished. i still have to paint/stain it and make the headboard. the headboard is going to be like a back of a bench. kinda like slats. they aren't very good pics but we don't have a digital and i'm crappy at taking pictures. sorry if they suck.

[identity profile] weeefairy.livejournal.com
Ok,
so heres the deal. i want to buy shoes. why am i posting it here you ask, well there is one pair of shoes i absolutely love.

but, they arent shiny. i can buy them in black but then the strap over my foot is lycra.
i can also buy them in some kind of fake leather, and they are then silveryblue metallic.
but not black and shiny. as in, patent/pvc shiny.

any ideas on how to make the shoes shiny?
