another darn question: i got diamond bits for my dremel, so i'll be able to cut glass, so i'm making myself a smoking bottle for burning incense.

and this site has really cool bags to hang them in
http://www.crystalmountain-aromatics.com/incense/burners/hangingbottles.htm

so you grrls who work with knotting and fiber arts, any idea where i would find a tutorial to teach me the basics of this? i don't even know what to call it, or i would google it myself. thanks.

My daughter had this shirt that didn't quite fit right and she said that it was itchy, but she still liked it so we recycled it.

I've been feeling really depressed and blah lately. I want to do something crafty, something happy crafty that preferrably doesnt need any expression from my side (otherwise it would end up black and blah lol)

normally i would sew and make a plushie out of plain cotton and then paint it or something but im kind of tired of making plushies, they just end up lying around and after stuffing them im always to lazy to sew them close.

I would prefer something that doesnt take forever either, because i never finish crafts that take to long xD

any ideas anyone?

[edit] I have just finished my styrofoam rainbow ball :D pictures behind the cut :D )

Hello Fellow Crafters :)

Long long time reader, first time poster. Id like to first say that all of the projects you guys post are amazing.
I hate having a Text Only post as my first post, and also an indroduction .. and on top of it ask a question, but i can assure you that when im done with my project i will post pictures to make up for this :)

The question is about Rit Dye, which im sure all of you have used at one time or another. My problem is my band shirts are quite old and very faded, I was wondering if anyone know the effect of RIT dye on the screened portion of a silk screen?
Will the dye take to it, or is it just the fabric. Has anyone ever tried it? I just want to bring back the "new" black of my old band tee's.

Thanks a whole bunch to anyone that is willing to answer this for me.

on june 10th and 11th, i participated in my school's relay for life, an all-night event whose proceeds were donated to the american cancer society. teams of 10+ people were formed, and the teams set up a tent and at least one person from each team had to walk around the high school track all night. teams sold things, and there was a dj and everything- very fun.

the little symbol that goes with it is a purple hope ribbon, and so i ordered molds offline and had a great time with them.

I made a shrug last night and I need some thoughts on it.
I kindof want it a little longer and maybe a little tighter around the sleeves, so I don't know if I should take it out and then just add to the length with the extra yarn.
Anyway here are some pictures of my progress, I am going to try and maybe make a little more on the back and thinking of a collar.
First here is some yarn porn for ya

Also has anyone ever lined theirs? Wool makes me itch so I need to see about lining this one so I can keep it for myself.

First things first, I have a question about a shirt I stenciled for my boyfriend. Then after the shirt and question, I have friendship bracelets!

I have the good fortune of working at a movie theatre, and being able to rummage through the scrap trailers, bits of film, etc.
As my boss didn't need them anymore, he gave me two copies of the teaser trailer for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I am not entirely sure what i should do with them. I kind of want to do a lampshade, but i am afraid that the heat from the bulb will melt the film, as it is only cellulite and it does do that on the projectors from time to time.

Does anyone else have any other ideas? the fragment i am thinking about using is the part where it flashes "Don't Panic" in large blue letters, just as the world is blowing up. The colour is stunning, all bright blueon black, so i don't see a problem showcasing it as long as there is light..

keep in mind that i only have so much money, so i am basically working with under 10 to spend on this. =)

-thanks!

Question first - I looked through the memories and couldn't find anything about hemp bracelet patters. I don't know anything about knotting and only have the most basic of braiding skills. Can anyone point me to a website or a good book with tutorials and patterns and such? Thank you!

As to the showing off part, I've been making more Rosaries. I went to a beadshow a few weeks ago and found some really beautiful Jasper and Blue Coral, then got some Turquoise to match. This was the result:

I made wool felt potatoes for an ornament swap in a primitive/folk art crafting community I belong to. I chose to make potatoes because I live in Ireland, and I like objects shaped like vegetables (I collect kitchenalia shaped like vegetables, in fact).

I felted some 100% wool fabric and dyed it brown. I cut, sewed, and stuffed the potatoes, then ran random stitches through them to simulate the eyes on the potatoes. I also added some french knots to look like the eyes were starting to sprout. I added a jute hanger, and a kraft tag which says '100% Irish spud' tied on with crochet cotton.

There's a lot of work in 60 wool felt potatoes. )
