Tomorrow I'm getting a puppy!!

It's actually for my mom, her birfday gift, but I'm so excited!

So excited in fact that I had to make something for her (the puppy)
I went shopping looking for dog beds, but all are so.. plain and mucho money.
That's when I got the bright idea to make a doggie bed :)

I looked around on the net and found a cool one to use as a guide.
It's made from a cardboard box and lots of glue, paint, fabric and frustration. :)
lets hope the puppy fits! lol

alicia was commissioned by a lovely lovely girl named...alicia. i was only told to "make it look like me" and "id love an alice in wonderland theme" and "oh a flower in my hair!" --- i did the best i could with such criteria.

alicia has restoredoll.com hair which is pretty much the exact same hair as barbie and unspeakably soft and silky and just plain nice. her shirt is seven or eight illustrations from alice's adventures in wonderland printed on blue vellum, torn into pieces and découpaged on to the doll. which turned out much better than i originally thought that it would.

i did this last summer with epoxy to glue the sea glass to the $7 mirror frame from marshall's. i like it, but i think it's kind of boring hanging on my wall right now. . .

what do you think about painting around the sea glass so that the wood color is different? like turquoise perhaps? just to make it brighter and more interesting? eh, eh?

also, i have soooo much sea glass (i'm always picking it up when i go to the beach for lack of anything else to to- not much a sunbather, as can be seen by my pastiness. . .) i think i'm going to make some earrings like i saw a few days ago by another poster! thanks for the idea! i hadn't thought of anything like that. . .

These are a few of the pieces of jewelry that I have been working on lately. I am trying to solve the lighting issues and think I might have actually figured it out at least partially. Tell me what you guys think. This is my first post so be gentle with me.

My dog's collar is way plain.. I would love to do some embroidery, but it's a *thick* nylon material. Are there any ways to spiff up a nylon collar? I think a Sharpie would bleed all over it. Hmm..

I haven't posted here in a long time. I thought I would share some handspun, hand-dyed yarns I made recently. I hope you like!

Kitty is a baby bunny, and baby bunnies are called "kittens", but most of them aren't green. Kitty is green because he likes eating lots of grass and green crayons.

Sorry there are no pictures, only a question.

I'm trying to make some drop spindles, I have wheels that have a 5/16th inch hole in them and I have dowels that are only 4/16th across. I've searched at Lowes and Home Depot only to find 4/16th inch dowels. I KNOW there is a way to make this work, I just don't know it.

What could I use to to maybe wrap around that section of the dowel to make it fit snug? I've got some 7800 adhesive that dries clear, I thought about putting it around the dowel and then just sticking it in but then the dowel would sit on just one side of the hole and it'd be offbalanced which I def. do NOT want.

Any suggestions? Ideas?

i have a frame that i want to glue putt putt tickets to and im not sure how to do it. i thought about hot glue but i think the frame is plastic and i dont want to melt it. i have a bottle of modge podge i got on clearance and was wondering if this would work. its the fabric modge podge and the tickets are paper and the frame is plastic. would this work? ive never used modge podge so i dont know how it works and the differences between all of them. i have the sparkle one too, but i dont think my boyfriend is big on sparkly things. im doing it tonite so i will post pictures as soon as im done.

Glues

Just to introduce myself, I'm Samah. I've been a member of this community for a while now and posted a few times before, but not recently.

I had a question on using glue, specifically for paper. What kind of glue is best to use for very thin paper, i.e. newspaper or tissue, so it won't crinkle or fold? I'm just looking to apply it on smooth flat surfaces (probably some kind of cardboard). Rubber cement is the best thing I can think of; I've never tried spray adhesive or anything like that. Suggestions?

Hey Crafty Ladies...
Next time you are visiting New York City, be sure to visit Bocage in the Lower East Side. They carry vintage trimmings, jewelry supplies and other unique and hard to find craft supplies.

Is anyone familiar with a brand of paint I could look into for painting plastic? I need the type I can brush on, not spray paint.
[identity profile] mon-seul.livejournal.com
I'm sorry if this has been posted before, and if it has, you can delete it.
But I wanted to do some decoupage. Since I'm broke, I wanted to use stuff I already have. would any kind of glue work, or do I have to get a special kind. I remember doing something like it when I was younger, and I used Elmer's glue. Is that ok? And now that I think of it, is hot glue ok to use?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

I made my dad's father's day present.
He's a computer administrator for my school district, and he has a cheesy sense of humor.
So I thought he'd appreciate this.
