There we go. The crap kept me busy for the last three weekends...but boi looks oh so sexy in it:

  • A quick and dirty remake of a bought shirt, front. I modified the sleeves and the back, costs were somewhat around EUR 10 max, the metal parts being the most expensive ingredients. The front will be stencilled with my man's logo as soon as we find the time to cut the rather frilly design out.
  • Same shirt, front #2
  • Same shirt, slashed back
  • A PVC skirt, very, very *rrrrr*...the pattern is taken from Natron & Soda. The skirt consists of two overlaying parts, basically, and was intentionally kept as simple and with as few frills as possible. The only details are the extra cross-shaped seams on the bottom and the closure on the top front part.
  • Same skirt, front #2
  • Same skirt, side view
  • The closure
  • Both skirt and shirt together, back view

I tried to lighten the piccies a bit so that the details would be more visible. All fabrics are indeed pitch black, promise ;).

This is the quilt top I've been working on made out of old pairs of my jeans. It was so simple... the actual piecing part only took maybe an hour or two. I am dreading basting... it's my least favourite part of any quilt project.

I apologize so much, especially since this is my first post here, but I have a question. I know plastic + oven = bad, but I made some cute Sculpey earrings and, without thinking, added two small plastic beads to them before baking. (They're on bent wire so I can't take them off.) They're not round either, so any melting/deformity would be drastic.

Can anyone tell me if they've done something similar? I might just bake them anyway and watch them carefully. . .Suggestions?

    Thank you so much

Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster.

The weather just turned sunny and hot here, and the wool knitted projects I'm working on are too heavy to knit without being scratchy and suffocating, so I'm turning my attention to knitting a summery top out of cotton yarn.

I haven't been able to find the exact pattern I want so instead, I'm going to try my hand at making up a pattern. I know that I want to have a lace trim at the bottom, and possibly sleeves as well. I also want to incorporate those funky old Chinese and Japanese coins with the holes in the middle. To that end, I'm asking you guys if you know of any links to online sites that have examples of lace-type knit patterns, and instructions, and any sites that are useful in designing a pattern -- for calculating a guage, fit, all that sort of thing. I'm still very new to this, and haven't done this before, so any help is appreciated!

And because photos are fun: )

ever since my sewing machine broke around halloween, i've been working less on clothing/purses and more on jewelry and crocheting - mostly link work, and tams, respectively.

I've made a good amount of things over the past little bit but found little time to document them via photo. After much procrastination I present to you the first 4 totes hopefully soon to be sold at Kustom Kulture. I have also included my piece "vag runs wild" a.k.a. vagina flowers, as well as some car decor, & pouches. Enjoy folks.

Yay! My first picture post ^_^

Hi!! My first picture post!! As promised, I'm sharing a crafty thing I've done.

Inspired by everyone's beautiful flowers, I decided to try my own -
finally. And I'm totally pleased with it. I made it with some light
weight white canvas (It looks cream in the photos), a vintage button
from my stash, a czech glass bead, and a pin back. I cannot find my
fabric glue, and by now it's been packed so long that it is probably
dry, so I ghetto styled it and just sewed the pin on the back of the
flower. (I moved to LA about a year ago and some of my crafty stuff is
    still in boxes)

I posted the pics in my journal:

The pics in my journal are from my Flickr account - so it would be better to look there instead.

Any ideas on how to make it more flat?

I have a quick question. When you guys paint altoid tins, what do you use? Like, specifically what kind of paint, brand, etc. I've tried a few things and they all come out awful.

So this isnt a text only post, a recent candle I've made: )
    [identity profile] anaisnin04.livejournal.com
Hi all. First post! I must say after belonging to this community for a few weeks, I am very impressed by the skill levels of everyone out there. So here's my first post of a couple things I've made recently: 2 coin purses and a tote. I made the tote with interfacing as my carry-on bag when i went to New York a couple weeks ago. I've made these coin purses to stash my camera and cash and other stuff. All are from patterns, but I'm also starting to design my own, and that's so exciting!

    A little picture heavy )

And I have a question while I'm making this post. I don't think this specific question has been asked before, but sorry if I didn't read the memories closely enough. I'm planning on buying a sewing machine soon, and since a lot of people recommend getting a used older one versus a new one, I'm just wondering why everyone mostly prefers that. Is it because new sewing machines just aren't made as well these days? I want something in the hundred dollar range for my college years but I would think buying an older machine would cause more problems than I'd want. But most importantly I want the best machine for my money.

so thanks for any suggestions or comments!

So I purchased the last few yards of fleece on a roll from Joann's. It's all crinkly on the end. Would washing it help? Er... do I wash it in cold water? What about drying? Fleece shouldn't be ironed right?

Do y'all usually wash your fabrics before making stuff with them?

I finished a new owl. He is made from an original pattern. His eyes are sodalite beads and his body and face are cotton fabric. Wool felt for eyes and beak. Polyfill stuffing.

I love Tarot cards, especially the images on them, so when I found a set of "The World's Tiniest Tarot Cards," I had to think of something to do with them. And voila! A tarot "mirror."

so i want to make myself a planner.

    mostly because:
    a) i'm impulsive & just decided that i need a new planner 2 minutes ago & the mall is closed
    b) i want to stencil cute things onto/into it

but i've never bound any kind of books before.

so my question to you all is...

what method should i go about binding it that would be best for a planner. & not complicated or need special materials since i want to do it like... tonight.

    thanks. ♥

Hi again! I got bored waiting for the computer and made some mini magnets :p Thought i'd share, I quite enjoy them! I do have a question though! You know those earring nets/stands? Does anyone have any good, crafty ideas on how to make one? I have a million pairs of earrings but I end up losing them because they get scattered around the house. Any ideas would be great!
Edit: Just after posting this I scroll down a bit and see the GIANT collection of marble magnets...damn :p Sorry guys!
