I bought a couple cheap zippers at walmart the other day, and tonight I made some little wristlet pouches. I'm pretty much in love with them, because I loooove the fabric.

Bright colors! )

Hi guys! I'm new here, but not to the world of crafting.
I attempted my first skirt surgery yesterday:

To alter the long plain skirt, I trimmed about 6 inches off the bottom, cut slits and threaded ribbon, hemmed the edges, and added large sequins.

Any suggestions or comments?

Hi there,

This might be my favorite knitting I've done so far. It's from the Poster Boy pattern in Stitch N Bitch Nation, and I used a picture of Twiggy (the 60s model) for the motif. This was my first attempt at fair isle. I really like the bag, but I think I need to throw it in the wash to get some of the lumps out (it's an acrylic stashbuster so I can't block). I can see myself using this technique a lot though, it's so gratifying to watch a face appearing in your knitting!

More pics and the lining... )

hi. this is my first post!! yay me

also

this )

is my first sewing project. i think the hardest part was butcher one of my favorite tshirts but i wear the bag alot more than i wore the shirt, so i am happy.

but i have a question. i recently stencilled on my

cd case )

and that came out ok too. but i want to stencil on a sweatshirt. what should i use for materials? (i.e. stencil and paint.) for the cd case i used cheap acrylic and baking paper. the acrylic paint sort of bled when layered and i want to do a multilayered stencil thing for my sweatshirt.

help!!

thanks, you guys are great!

I just finished this shirt that I've been aching to make for awhile. All the pictures are up at http://iamapotato.blogspot.com/

The green is t-shirt knit, and the other fabric is sweaterknit fabric. All I need now are to add some straps, but since I'm doing Blogathon today, I don't have time to run down to the fabric store to get supplies!

I'd post the pictures here but I don't know if Blogger allows that.

Now I just need a new project to start and finish before 6AM tomorrow morning! Suggestions?

EDIT
I was thinking of making maybe a cardigan-type thing out of the cotton/poly prints I have, but I don't know if it would look with that type of fabric. I could also always just bust out another skirt too.

Well I've been crafting up a storm the past few weeks. Under the cut you will find a stash of birthday stuff (pouch, earrings, sleeping mask, marble magnets) two pairs of gloves that I knitted for myself and my boyfriend, Annnnd the icing on the cake, my very own duct tape dress dummy.

I also baked a pie but there are no pictures of that... )

so you guys know that site, etsy.com to sell crafts and such on?

i've been looking through it today to try and motivate myself to go sew something (or at least procrastinate doing my summer english work), and i notice there are things listed that have been there since mid-june. anyone here on there and actually able to sell anything on it? i've signed up and intend trying sometime.

and i promise - i'll have a post with pictures in the next few days or so. just have to get some stuff done! :)

I finished this project over a month ago, and when I went to take pics of it then, my old camera died in my hands. I only replaced said camera this week. It's the box that the bank mails my replacement checks in, to give you an idea of the size. It lives in my "toy box" and keeps things a little neater in there. Pretty image heavy post, you've been warned.

I'm using Walagata to host my images, since I'm pretty sure webshots won't allow remote stuff. It's my first attempt at using walagata so let's keep our fingers crossed that it works as I expect it to.

i browsed the memories, but i couldnt quite get this. im making one of those duct tape dummies for my waist (like, a pair of shorts) because i make more skirts then anything, and my legs are oddly shaped, haha.

now, i understand wrap a pair of shorts in layers and how to cut it off, but do i have to stuff it? if so, what do i stuff it with? how would i manage to get it to stand up? any one have any ideas? i cant afford polybatting or whatever its called, but does anyone have any ideas?

haha, or any idea of what im talking about?

I was wondering if you ladies know any places that I can buy cloth patches that have knitting/crafting themes? Something like a ball of yarn and needles or I <3 knitting. I would make them myself but I don't have anything to stencil with because I have all my craft stuff packed away because I'm moving into a new apartment! :D

Thanks in advance!

I didn't feel like doing any more than this one and the only reason I did this one was so I could have an excuse to do 4-strand round braids (They are more fun than they sound lol)

im soooooooo sorry for posting so much, i feel awful.... but;

i begain making the duct tape shorts. its fun, haha. but the only ones i had were stretchy waist band ones, and the second i took them off (it was only the first layer) the waistband did what waistbands do, which made the duct tape all funny.

when i put the other layers on, will it hold more to my size?

if not, how else could i do it?

i decided that, since i can't take my sewing machine overseas with me, i needed to find a new craft.

so i've picked up embroidery!

i ordered 4 pattern sets from sublime stitching, but in the meantime i decided to freehand some things just to practice. i made this for my mom, since she's already starting the "oh, come home and have dinner, i'm going to miss you when you leave!!"

now, my question is - what should i do with it? it's about 10x10", and the embroidery is in the bottom left corner. she likes reading, crafting, and rides the bus to work. any ideas?

Damn you Urban Outfitters! I saw these shoes in their fall catalog (of course they are men's shoes) and fell in love.

$60 Ben Sherman Shoes

I don't really wear red on a daily basis, and I have this weird quirk where my outfit has to look coordinated with my shoes. So, with that in mind, using these $60 Ben Sherman shoes as inspiration, I painted these $20 stretch canvas slip-ons...

On to the execution! )
