Another question...

If I wanted to embroider something on a t-shirt (or, really, stretchy material in general) would it be plausable? Or is it something that shouldn't really be attempted?

Any suggestions on how I could possibly go about doing it? [should I stretch the fabric in the hoop a lot, a little, not at all? smaller stiches, biger stiches?]
also: will the embroidery cause the fabric to stretch or bunch weird? I just don't get the mechanics of it.

(if it makes any difference, it would be more of a line-drawing than embroidery with lots of satin stiching or whatever)

Folks! I'm new and...

I have an ordinary binder.

I want to cover said binder in fabric. Normal cotton quilting fabric. I prefer the texture and look of fabric to plasticyvinyl.

What glue and gluing technique would you recommend?

(For that matter...do you suppose I could iron it on if my iron were at a high enough setting to melt the plasticyvinyl bindercovering?)

I'm obsessive compulsive, so the fabric must be completely flat up against and completely adhered onto the binder to satisfy me.

Ideas? o.o;?

Yes, like autos. :)

Have you seen cars that have stuff written on the windows, looks like well, I'm not sure, soap or spray paint?  I know it must come off, but I have no idea what it *is*, and I need to get some for my car, but the problem is, I have no idea what it is I am looking for to do that.

If anyone knows what the heck I'm talking about and could tell me what product I should be hunting for, I'd sure appreciate it!

Edit: Got my answer, y'all are TERRIFIC!!!

Hi, i made a painting yesterday. It's more a stencil then a "real" painting, except i did use normal acryl paint then spraypaint.
What do you think about the chose of colours?

maybe this is a well-known phenomenon, but boingboing.net lead me to free yamaha paper crafts. they look pretty exciting, albeit not completely diy as they are patterns you can assemble.

i recently asked about making smooth record bowls. turns out the ones i wanted to make require a machine i have no access to.

so i tried other things, because i really don't like the flaring and wavyness.

this is what i came up with

ideas?

okay, so here's the deal...

my parents are over in England visiting rellies (i'm in Australia) and i'm minding their house, animals and my younger sister (which is sort of the same thing as the animals only the animals are cleaner)...

my mum is run down and tired and worked pretty hard all her life trying to get this house fixed up because dad insisted 10 years ago that we had to have it because it was such a great deal and they have been renovating ever since...

anyway. while they are away i wanna try and do as much as i can. i want to atleast get a sewing room properly fixed up for mum. it sort of shares with this computer as well.

anyway. ULTIMATELY i'm just hopeing for some good ideas in what i can do to make it really nice and homely and so she knows its HERS as she hasn't really had her own space in the house.... so just nifty pretty ideas and stuff? if anyone has any i would GREATLY appreciate it!!!

sorry if this post annoys ppl.

yes, you can see part of the pinback

orangey-tan beads i used are transparent.

It's a sunny day everyday with my new "Sunny Day Clutch"!

Sunny Day Clutch
Crocheted with a G-sized hook, Caron Simply Soft Brites Yarn in Limelight and Blue Mint, and Red Heart Classic Yarn in Yellow. The whole bag is stitched using the half-double-crochet stitch; the sun is stitched in single-crochet. I hand-sewed the yellow zipper (thanks Cheryl for the bag of zippers!) since I'm not very good with my sewing machine, nor do I have a zipper foot for it.

My brother came for a visit and introduced me and my sisters to beading. Not the age-old linear method of putting beads on a string and calling it a bracelet, but the age-old method of forming a kind of cloth using beads and thread. I think what he taught us is either called flat brick stitch or flat peyote stitch, but I'm not sure exactly what stitch it is. It looks like bricks so I'm inclined to think that's what it is. I decided to get fancy and do a stripe. Wee! That was fun. Then I got really fancy and worked up a graph on the computer, printed it out, and graphed out a "J." The finished size, when laid flat, is about 1" x 6". I sewed some snaps on it for the closure. Anyway, behind the cut are pictures of my first piece and some instructions. I definitely have more planned.

Hi, if you know how to sew a donut-shaped cushion, please do let me know. I tried cutting out two donut-shaped pieces of fabric, pinned them right sides together, then sewed the entire outer circumference, and then part of the inner circumference ... but that didn't work.

How does one go about making a hole in a SHELL without it shattering into ugly ugly pieces?

I went to the beach yesterday, found little rocks and shells, came home. And then in a fit of boredom, I coated them with acrylic varnish. And now I want to DO stuff with it. Like, wear them around my neck. I want this to be a cheap and fairly easy project.

Also, if drilling holes is too risky... what are other ways to attach these little things to necklaces?

so, two of my friends just had their baby a few months ago and, failing to knit him something awesome as i had promised, i decided to design him some awesome onesies. i figured it would also be a good chance to do some embroidery, my newest craft of interest. the baby's name is phoenix, so i came up with this: a phoenix for phoenix. )

A friend linked me to a tutorial for making these adorable little books. Here is the link: http://www.yasutomo.com/project/foldedbook.html

She has managed to make 20 something of these cute books, yet I cannot even make one *grr*. I am posting this in hope that any of the following are true:
1. You have seen/made these books before and know a better tutorial
2. You decide to try it, figure it out correctly, and clarify the tutorial by perhaps colouring in the tutorial to show the different sides of the paper.

Cheers Dears

PS: I would post project pics, but the only projects i have done are pop tab bracelets and everyone knows what those look like haha.

Hello all!

I'm into Fimo these weeks, and it's my boyfriend's birthday soon... I'm searching for a great Fimo-related gift idea for him, and it's very hard to find something...
I can't make him a photo frame as it's done yet...
I was thinking of making something to put around his lighters... but it seems a little hard as lighters don't go in the oven ^^ ! It also seems so tiny...
I definitely search for something more "spectacular"..

Any ideas appreciated^^
Thank you for the help!

New Blue Camera Bag

Crocheted with an H-sized hook and Caron Sayelle yarn (now discontinued). I had made a bag for my sister months ago when her camera was new; it was white and black and looked like a panda bear. However, it didn't have any space to place four extra AA batteries or a second Compact Flash card, so I whipped this up for her today. The entire bag is crocheted using the half-double-crochet stitch. I attached a pocket to the front with a button closure to keep her batteries & memory card, and the strap is long enough to allow the bag to mingle near her hip.

I also made a peach fruit squishy!

There's more photos of the blue camera bag in my LIVING blog at BOREDGIRL.

I made this bracelet a few weeks ago- I swear every time I wear it I
get compliments on it- so it's become one of my favorites. The middle
beads are glass fire-polished purple stones.

Bored to death.

I have

- that kind of string you make friendship bracelets out of
- normal thread
- scraps of fabric
- ribbon
- needles/sewing machine
- a glue gun
- paint
- spray paint
- stuffing
- oversized tees

I have...

*NO* zippers
*NO* freezer paper

Any ideas/suggestions as to what I could do or make with any of these things??

I just finished making my third friendship belt.

Pictures of all 3 belts )

The belts are made exactly like normal friendship bracelets are, except supersized. It takes FOREVER, but it's nice to have something to do when watching a movie or television. :D

EDIT: A good site with TONS of different patterns for friendship bracelets is http://www.geocities.com/hbernb/ . It's not up half the time because of bandwith issues, but when it's up, be sure to check it out!! :) :)
