ok so i was given a rather large roll of white vinyl. its the kind that is usually used ot make outside signs you see everywhere with gromments put in and tied up with rope. to give you an idea of the texture/thickness. its about a 3foot wide roll and has alot on it.. was free so i couldnt pass it up, but now my only problem is what to make out of it? other then making a table cloth, to craft proof our wooden table im really at a blank.

i was wondering if anybody knows if i paint a peice of it with acrilyic paint if it would even stay on it or would i need a specil type of paint/dye or what not todo somthing like that?

im sure i will come up with some ideas eventully but would love to hear others' thoughts.

So here is the card that I was desperetly searching to find a coin/monsy based font for......yes it is very simple and basic but I wanted it to look that way since the person it was for likes plain simple things (and is an obsessed coin collecter) oh pick me pick me )

Just joined. Love reading the posts and love looking at everyone's creations. Oh so inspiring.
I have been making jewelry since I was in high school. I loathe divulging how long ago that really was.
I'm still perfecting my techniques, but there has been marked improvement over the years. And who could ask for more than that?

This is a necklace I made yesterday while my babe was sleeping. It took me about an hour and a half.

heart necklace

I used sterling silver wire, 24 gauge. It's a little more delicate than I would like, but I was out of 22. (My 17 month old pulled on it while I was wearing it yesterday and it didn't break or bend or anything so maybe it's good with the 24.) The bigger beads are hematite, the smaller ones are sort of a metallic green glass bead. The charm is marcasite.

I've gotten back into my crocheting kick. Here's a few things I've done in the last couple days. )

I also made something that's NOT SO WORK APPROPRIATE!! Explicit crocheting! )

Also, I just recently moved to a Chicago suburb, and I was wondering if anyone had any sources on craft fairs in the area? Thanks in advance!

Edit: How do i make those lacy little fingerless gloves that people often wear with evening dresses and such....I'm thinking of making some to go with my fairy costume for halloween!

well, this is my first ever time posting pics, so i hope i do it right!

i've been working on my daughter's halloween costume and got a ton of great advice on how to make the tutu/flower fairy-ish skirt... haven't started it yet because i wanted to make the wings first. also, a photo of a scarf i made last winter... it's my new favorite (i'm a bit of a scarf slut).

Sorry to do this gals, but I seem to be having a block.

Does anyone know of a way to take a picture that was drawn on graph paper, and transfer it onto fabric so that I can embroider over it? I'm looking for something that will wash away, and leave no trace of the original image, just the embroidery.

Edit: I have an inkjet printer, and can probibly find any other supplies that I would need. The image is VERY detailed, so carbon transfer paper really isn't an option.

I'll post pics when I'm done.

i really want to sew something, but i don't quite know what it's called, thus i can't find a pattern for it.

it's like a flowy dress/long shirt, a bit boho-style, it goes down to about above your knees, tank top style at the top, and it is kind of baggy around the arm holes ?? does anyone know what i am talking about ?

or maybe someone knows where they sell them.
thank you :)

hey. i'm 95% new to this community. 5% of me is familiar with craftgrrl because i've been looking through the memories & the tutorials, & i've stenciled/screenprinted a few shirts of my own.

the thing is, i have yet to find a clear, understandable, do-able hood tutorial. can anyone help?

i promise i'll post a picture when i'm done with the hoodie.

Hey I need a knit hat pattern for guys.

Or....What would be a good thing to make for guys in a band? Theyre going on tour. It needs to be fairly simple, but maybe useful? And I need to make 4 by next Sunday but I'm leaving town for the next week so I can't bring my sewing machine and every piece of crafting equipment I own. I'm flying so supplies need to either be easy to find or good for stuffing in a suitcase. (this is why i'm considering hats. Scarves take too long I think.)

Eeee sorry I'm picky! <3

My fourth grade students have inspired me to learn how to knit. Sittin on the playground with one of them, watchin in amazement as she made a mini scarf was just too much for me to take, SO i went to the store and bought some supplies. then i looked up on the net how to begin, since no one round these here city parts knows the art of knitting (besides 9 year olds, but they are prolly in bed by now). it just makes me wish my Nanni was still alive to show me. anyhoo

slipknot: check!

Casting off: check!

First row: chhhh... yah, how did i mess this up?

its sad, really... )

the prob i started havin was when i was stitchin the first row, the yarn between the two needles kept stretchin longer and longer. it finally eneded up being this huge loophole when i stitched the slipknot i began with. am i even wording this correctly in my desperate attempt to make sense?  be gentle, its my first time. any help, advice you could offer me tonight would be so appreciated. i dont want to go to the playground and be laughed outta school cause i cant knit :(

Sorry ladies and gentlemen, text only.

I have a really cute blazer that could be dressed up if I changed the buttons, but unfortunately it has rivet buttons, like you usually find in jeans or denim jackets.

How do I get these things off? Preferably without tearing huge holes in the fabric?

I have tried prying them apart with a flathead screwdriver, to no avail. Any other ideas? Please?

I uploaded some of the crystal things I've done. It's pucca, hello kitty (yes, I know the bow is on the wrong side of her head), and a star.
.

I'm fairly ok with how they turned out, but Pucca's leg somehow got attached to her arm. For first attempts, they're ok, but I always seem to mutate things somehow...what do you all think?
