I love(and miss him) my husband so much I made a bag about him!

Hey, all! I need help again. =T My brother's friend wants me to make a drawstring bag for him. It's for his car's steering wheel which he takes off when he goes home and whatnot. I have no idea why so you car smart people out there; let me know, wouldja? Anyways, the thing is that the back of the steering wheel, at the center, has a protruding round thing of about 6 inches. That's the thing that attaches to the car. I'm bad at explaing things... So yeah anyway, should I make alterations from the tutorial I'm going to use to better fit the protruding thing? Any suggestions? I've looked in the memories but I'm either blind or there's just isn't anything on that.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, this is the tutorial I am going to use. =D

My mom asked me what she shall do with three 4-6 years old kids during camping out and I have no idea. I know you might have answer for my mom. What can she do with leaves, sticks, and yarns? I was thinking about uh dream weaving something that I had done when I was little. Only problem is I forgot how to. Any another suggestion is fine with me as long it is for camping out.

i have a build-a-bear polar bear that my boy gave me. he's gotten alot of lovin' and is now looking a bit grey...i want to clean him up but am unsure how to go about it. i remember reading somewhere once that you can just pop a teddy bear into a pillow case and pin it shut and put them in the washing machine, but the tag on this one says 'surface wash only'...i have no idea what to use to surface wash a bear, and i'd really like to not ruin him.

please, any ideas?

...of the sweet curtains I made for our bedroom. So I whipped up some olive drapey goodness for our sliding glass doors. Hubby and I love green and I so scored with this awesomely cheap remnant fabric.

Anyone who lives/lived in an apartment with a balcony knows the horror that is the vertical blinds.

Just ew.

Hi,

Does anyone know what kind of glue they use for Judith Leiber bags? I've been crystalizing my phone. In the past I have tried many glues--super glue and krazy glue (these cause the crystals to look dull and lifeless), regular glue (which is pretty much pointless), and E 6000. the E 6000 is my favourite, but it can get clumpy in some spots causing a very unattractive effect (I'll post pics to demonstrate what I mean when I get home from work). Does anyone here have any idea what kind of glue they use to get such a smooth/flat and even effect that also is lasting?

thanks, *^_^*

Okay, so I am making a first attempt to paint a mural on one of my walls, but I ran into a slight problem: How do you fade paint from one color to another? I'm painting the Jack's Mannequin album artwork on my wall, so I need to fade from a light-ish blue to white. I tried using water on a brush to blend them, but it ended up being all blotchy and not so pretty looking.

Seriously, any help would be amazing. I really want to get this done by the end of the weekend, but I can't paint anything of the buildings or anything until I finish the sky.

I have had this canvas panel for about 2 years and was never very inspired to do anything with it, especially since I'm not so good with painting or drawing. Luckily, this post from yesterday instantly inspired me, I dug out my supplies, and a few hours later I had this!

four

It's red and purple on a 6"x8" canvas panel with acrylic paints. Very simple, but I love it. Also, a bit messy if looked at closely, but it will be hanging over my desk, so it will always be seen from at least 2 feet away where you can't see the little paint lines and clumps. :)

Yay, I love it! Thanks boogersugar!

Edit: It has been pointed out to me that I should perhaps explain the number 4.
At first, I just liked how the 4 looked in boogersugar's post. Then I thought about how I could do the same thing, but make it mine. In the end, the 4 stayed because of some personal reasons; 4 years ago I was given 4 months to live due to cancer. So I decided that the 4 would stay because a)I liked the look and b)I wanted to gloat about life. :)

I made a pile of these pouches the other day with my new sewing machine. I upgraded from one that was about 60 years old and would sew forwards, and backwards and that's it! So I learned how to do decorative stitiching on my new one, and made these little zipper pouches with flower patches on the front. And they are even lined with pink fabric on the inside! It's amazing how excited I can get over a fancy toy like a sewing machine!

This is a very simple bag that I made for my son to take trick or treating. I saw the face pattern in the Halloween episode of Better Homes and Gardens and then improved it. It is made of wool felt and embroidery thread.

My son adores it and asks me every day if it is time for Halloween to start yet.

I got this skateboard from an "uncle" a few weeks ago and i want to hang it up in my room until I get my own apartment (one and a half years until college!). Any ideas on how to hang it up? It's just the deck and I do not want to put any nails through it at all. I know nothing about displaying skateboards! help!

yes it was from spike jonze

I was just baking some pieces of jewelery I made. I'm using an old toaster oven set at 265 F and the timer was set for fifteen minutes. I was using Dark blue, Dark green, Orange and Neon pink. I checked on it about four minutes into baking and everything looked fine, except the pink pieces were melting into little clay puddles. I've never seen this before, and the other pieces using the other colors were fine. two of the pink pieces were about 1/3" thick and the other was probably 1/8" thick. It had been out of the wrapper for a couple months, but the other colors weren't, so I was thinking maybe this had something to do with it? The clay is a couple years old, and I'm pretty sure its Fimo not Sculpey. I didn't smell any weird fumes, and the other pieces are still unbaked and in their original shape.

Has this happened to anyone? Does Fimo clay go bad? I was looking in the memories and really didn't see anything. Help?!

I pulled the pink clay off of the baking sheet and it was really pliable. It was almost like silly putty but as soon as it cooled off, it resumed its original texture and form. It wasn't even hot.

I'm really disturbed by this..

so i received my fabric from j caroline creative in the mail the other day, and was so excited. the fabric is gorgeous. i highly recommend this place - they were very quick with shipping, it's fairly reasonably priced, and the fabric is excellent.

anyway. i was very happy with my purchase, and thus, turned it into a bag as soon as it arrived.

plus three under the cut )

hmmm. yes, it's lovely fabric. nice, heavy cotton canvas. quite sturdy bag. joann's also has a bit of new decorator fabric in... my lovely polka dotted bag i made for school a while back is quite dirty, so i bought new polka dot fabric almost identical to my current bag - except the background is black instead of white.

thanks for looking!

My first non ghetto book. The rest(well, the only other one I've made that turned out looking somewhat like a book) involved massive amounts of tape and staples, we don't need to talk about that though.

I don't know what to put on the cover though. Ideas?

The part that took the longest was making the cover. It's some damn thick board(not sure what it's called though and fabric. I stitched the fabric on with some matching thread doubled up for thickness. I bound all the pages together with some random thread and cinnamon dental floss. If you hold your face up to it you can smell the cinnamon and it's a very light but nice smell. I'm planning on a bookmark for it that'll involve the smell of cinnamon as well.

Pop cans

Here's a new one, I think.

What would someone do with a large amount of Diet Dew cans, sans tabs? I've been keeping the tabs for my jewelry-making, but being the caffeine fiend that I am I end up tossing a ton of them into the recycling every week.

So, does anyone know of something crafty I could do with all these cans?
