Here is a robot that I have just finished knitting for a friend of mine. I used the photos on this site as inspiration, but the pattern was not in print yet when I started making him. What do we think?

His name is Greybolt )

Hi All,

Just wanted to let people in Minnesota and nearby states know that the No Coast Craft-o-Rama is on Saturday December 3rd!! There will be more than 50 vendors selling handmade everything!

This is Minnesota's answer to the Renegade/Art-vs-Craft/etc. shows, and we're hoping to have similar success. If you're going to be in or around the Twin Cities this Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., please do stop by! We'll be in Columbia Manor, located on the corner of 33rd St. and Central Ave. NE.

Thank you for reading! Mods, delete away if this is not an okay thing to post.

^_^;; In an effort to make up for asking so many questions lately, I bring you, photos! Of earrings that I made a few months ago. I took the pics and then lost them in the vortex which is my soon-to-be-replaced-piece-of-junk harddrive. :)

These are all really simple, save for the button and sequin heart ones, which were actually rather difficult to put together. Please excuse my craptastic photography skills, especially on the babies, because they actually look a lot better than that - the black border is a result of my attempt to correct my awful photo. ^_^

The baby earrings are a hit, especially. Quite a few friends of mine want some. Oh, I also made some earrings out of tiny Pepsi cans, but I cant find those... o.O

Photos Ahoy! )

Oh, and I'm also in the middle of an attempt at making marble magnets. The glue I chose (because I couldn't find any of the recommended ones listed in the Memories pages) was UHU Mosaic/glass crafting glue. Stuff's been drying for like 45 minutes now and *still* the magnets slide about on the back of the two I've done. URGH!

I'm making a collage on one of my walls of my bedroom with postcards and pictures. I basically want to wallpaper this blank wall (my other three walls are painted)from corner to corner, ceiling to ceiling.
I've been using rubber cement to adhere the postcards to the wall, but over time some of them are starting to peel off in the corners or center making them bubble out.
My question is, what kind of adhesive should I use to get a nice flat stick and is also easy and quick to apply? It doesn't matter if it ruins the paint underneath (or even the picture's under surface) as long as it'll stick good.
Any recommendations or ideas?

I've been trying to come up with a more unique form of jewelery. I'm a little tired of charm bracelets and earrings and necklaces... So i've decided to get a little retro and start bringing back more belt loop jewelry. They might make fun keychains too.

I'm going to hand embriorder a simple design onto fabric and I want to sketch out the design onto it first so that I have something to follow. Last time I tried this I stupidely used a red marker because it blended into the fabric but it really just ended up turning my white tread red. I don't have a done of knowledge about the types of products that are out there for marking fabric with. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance!!

Yay for dollar stores, this cost 3 bucks to make.

Christmas Story leg night light )

*Edit*
It was really easy to make, I chopped off a barbie-esque doll's leg then glued it onto the bottom of a night light with tacky glue, then I cut a lamp shade in half and put it onto the night light bulb (It had those light bulb squeezey wires inside it). Easy peasy.

So, using the directions from knitty, I made the "Villa" poncho over this past month amongst other projects.

Hi y'all.

I have a problem, and I'm hoping someone here has an idea that could potentially work.

So, I do the whole jewelry making thing and awhile back a friend of mine brought me a sand dollar that's probably close to the size of a nickel. It has a hole straight through the middle (obviously created by a bird, as it's jagged) and a chip at the top, but otherwise, is in good shape. He brought it home from the beach because he thought it should be made into a necklace, and while I agree wholeheartedly, I don't want to just attach it to some wire or thread and call it a day...I'm too worried it'll shatter, as it's fairly fragile.

Is there anything that you would suggest I fill it with in order to reinforce it so it won't shatter at the first second it gets? It's in such good shape and I've got some great beads that I'd LOVE to string it with, but I need to know it'll last first.

Thanks in advance, and I promise to post some lampwork pics later to make up for a text only post. :)

I made the baby a stocking out of scrap fabric and doodads I had lying around. The green fleece is leftover from his Halloween costume, two holidays in one!
He took a two hour nap this afternoon, so I spent the time playing Santa's workshop. I'll have to post pictures when I get it all finished up later today. It's safe to assume some sock critters were involved.

Cables!

I really wanted to learn how to make basic twisted cables for a knit handbag, and I've tried learning them for crocheting and knitting and everything I do seems to turn out terribly. :(

All of my troubles: )

Does anyone have any simple instructions for cables? Preferably something without the cable needle!!

Thanks so much in advance!

First off, thanks to everyone who posted in regards to the sanddollar issue. I'll be checking up on resin as soon as this quarter ends. (IF this quarter ends...rawr.)

That said, some new jewelry, including a pendant that represents my first dip into lampwork. I thought I'd take the hands-on approach of learning as opposed to taking a class or reading a book and just kind of dove in head first to see what happened. It's one of my favorite pendants now to wear.

BTW, sorry about quality of pics. I have an old digital camera and my photographer is too busy to deal with helping me out right now. :)

i would like to make this scarf. i am undecided whether to do the little alien dudes using duplicate stitching or fair isle. which one is easier/looks better? also, is it a given that scarves knit using intarsia/fair isle/duplicate stitching need to be backed with another knit piece (i.e. to cover the back of the piece)?

also, where's a good place to buy yarn in toronto? lewiscraft doesn't have much of a selection, and lettuce knit is kind of expensive (but the yarn is so pretty!).

so i finished my first mixed media collage tonight. i really wish i would've taken art classes in school to learn all these cool things!

this was made for my best friend who loves music, he plays bass guitar :)

it's acrylic paint on canvas. then i decoupaged some sheet music (rolling stones) and guitar picks. i drew tails on them with paint pen to turn them into music notes. wrote some lyrics in Sharpie with his favorite george harrison song (beware of darkness)...broke a 78 record and glued it on top of everything...finished the record with pastels...then put 4 guitar strings (i didn't use bass strings cuz they're expensive!) over that to make the record into a guitar. i attached the strings with staples..kinda lame, but glue wasn't working.

anywho..here's the finished project! :)
