It's a shame and a half that the fall didn't last longer here. It's my absolute favorite time of year. The colors are divine.
I decided to make a soft and cozy scarf with those vibrant, earthy, warm colors of fall.
I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, I can only knit straight things, with one kind of stitch, but I'm still proud!

Wanna look?

See the toasty goodness here. )

I made a flapper girl doll. She is made from an original pattern and has Sculpey beads on her boots and a handmade cloth-covered button on her hat. Her dress is patchwork left over from a quilt top I made. I hope you like her! Come see more of my work at my blog http://www.whileshenaps.typepad.com .

I just got a letter from my Gocco rep that says RISO has decided to discontinue gocco printers. I am guessing stores/reps will have them in stock for a limited time from now on. If you want one don't wait too long. I have two (small and large) and I love them.

This affects the exposure units only. RISO will continue to make all supplies (bulbs, ink, etc.) for those that already own the units (EDIT) BUT THESE WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS. :-( Does anyone know if you can use other brands of ink with the Gocco?

You can read the letter my rep sent me if you want. It's posted at my website:

for those who are sewing machine savvy:

can i use an invisible zipper foot to attach regular zippers? what is the difference between the way the two feet work?

do any of you guys use an industrial sewing machine? mine is like the kind you would see in a factory (attached to a table with a big pedal to make the needle move) ... and for those of you with commercial machines, how do you get the needle to move? i'm curious because i don't think i've ever watched someone sew with a regular home machine.

thanks!

I'm trying to make cellophane wings, again. My last pair turned out pretty awful. These ones are only a few inches tall.

i just found this community yesterday (along with craftster - my new favorite site!), and i felt like sharing something.

i don't have any new projects yet - planning a bunch for christmas though - but here are a few things i've made in the past: candles with floral bases, and some picture frames.

Hello all. I realise this is my first post, and it is text-only, hopefully you can help with that!

I am planning to make my friend a miniature book, and would like to emboss the cover. What is a good, preferably simple way of creating an embossed book-cover?

Thanks in advance!

And a question:
A reeeally long time ago, somebody posted with a method of making fabric transfers with their inkjet printer. From memory, they made a bag with Madonna on it... Does anybody have a link to this? I've been having problems with tshirt transfer paper. Thanks for your help!

I'm working on making a shaker gourd for my dad's Christmas present. I have the dried gourd, I even have the Job's tear seeds for the rattly bits; what I can't figure out is how to do the netting. There's got to be an easy way to do this-would it be best to try to crochet something around the gourd, or do all the netting and then figure out how to tie it on the gourd? For that matter, is there some way of doing the netting other than crochet that might be easier? I'm planning on using plain hemp string, if I can find some that's thin enough.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about: Shake, shake shake )

...I put new thread in the machine, a heavier type thread than what I have used lately. I am not skilled at knowing EVERYTHING about sewing.

I do know I threaded it right and the bobbin is in right. My problem is:: the thread from the needle is leaving huge loops on the bottom hence the bobbin thread isn't working to hold any stitches in place. I am not sure what happened to change the "settings" of my machine since it worked fine before I switched threads. Please give me a hint/ heads up or ANYTHING! I am extremely frustrated here.

The Handheld Sewing Machine!
"Great for hemming sewing and any place you can't get a sewing machine near!"

Thought this item might be of some interest to some of the sewers in this community, especially for the holidays :)
The only problem is, I havn't seen this thing anywhere else besides ebay/infomericals..anyone know if any chain craft stores carry this? Thanks a lot!

okay, sorry for the text only post, but i've searched in the FAQs and i couldn't find anything.

we're supposed to make a giant christmas card for our english class and it has to be creative. i figured some of you might have awesome ideas...and, would anybody happen to know how to make it so ants won't come eating my candy if i use them for a craft? say a mosaic m&m's card thingy :)

sooo....

Anyone want to buy an old Singer?? **innocent look**

thanks for the advice guys but it just won't work. I'm gonna not touch it for a bit and feel frustrated that I can't get my projects done. Probably rethread with different weight of thread and see if it makes a difference. I really hate this thing.
