I'm starting to make the doxies I love this corduroy. It's a deep magenta with perwinkle blue, light pink and tangerine. It looks much nicer in person. I'm finishing up a brown corduroy, black and white leopard print in faux low pile fur, red silk, pink baby flower corduroy.

Right. So I got flamed over some crafts by a random person. Details inside, if you're interested. )

ETA: OK, I've had my say and I'm calmer now. Here's an amusing picture to make up for the stressball post I just inflicted on you all:

:) A customer sent that in.

I'm new and recently I got back into jewelry making. Always was a favorite past time for me when I was younger and looking through LJs with crafts people have done has inspired me to do it again. I have made a couple of things...kind of shy to post any pictures on what I have created at the moment.

I wanted to ask a quick question to all the jewelry makers.

I was wondering where everyone finds there beads? Just ebay or other online stores I haven't heard about?

Thanks so much for your time. :D

My first skirt!
Okay, you guys were such help/encouragement in my last post (Skirts for a fuller girl???)

I dove right in and made it... I drafted out the pattern onto blank newspaper print I had to buy for studio last semester

I needed a way to make the skirt adjustable - this is what I came up with.. instead of buttons - I didn't have any that were really talking to me.. I think maybe next time I will get the kind of "buttons" that you use for jeans and stuff..

I'm about to have a crochet melt down.

I wanted to make slippers for my mother for christmas. I wanted something poofy and cozy, opposed to the equivilent of a thick frilly sock. So I tackled this pattern: I used the general structure but decided to knick the cow portion of the slipper and make it something a little more grown up (though the cow is freaking adorable.)

Except... Either I'm having a major brain fart, or this is a terrible pattern. I tend to let a pattern guide me, and I don't go strictly off of it. But right now my brain is shut off entirely. I've got stress up the wazoo and I wanted a simple project I wouldn't have to think about. ...Except this just is not working.

If you crocheters out there would be so kind as to take a peek at the pattern for me, and tell me if I've interpreted this wrong:

From snout to "continue in this manner" (said portion under cut) ) Though it doesn't specify to join, you're working in rounds, so it kind of goes without saying. And this is the toe, where the cow face would go, so yeah, this was all joined. I got through this easily, and was lead to this portion ) .. but this calls for no slit in the top of the slipper, to allow the foot in. So I figured it was a forgotten thing, and added it myself. But this whole last section turned out to be roughly 4 inches dramatically decreasing. ... So there is four inches to put your foot in? I know what I could do, if I decided to recreate this stupid ass project, to get it right. But I'm wondering HOW the hell I ended up with what I did. Bad pattern, or bad crocheting sense on my part? Not sure why, but I am curious to know.

Now I'm off to rip apart the failed slipper and make my own freaking pattern.

Who knew fiber and a hook could inspire rage?

the title of my post sounds like a very exciting movie. ha. i'm writing to ask about a plate i am decorating. it is a clear plastic plate. i want to print some pictures of my gf and me on the inkjet printer, so they'll be in color.

then, i want to paste them to the plate so they show throw the topside. i want to collage the rest with drawings i make and maybe a few bits of ephemera.

then, i want to paint the back with acrylic, and i should be done.

now, if i put mod podge on the front side of the inkjet printed pages, they'll run, right?

i have a xyron sticker maker. can i put the color printouts in upside down, so the glue side is where i want it, and then cover with mod podge?

i have glue sticks if you think that's a bad idea...

Here is part of the gift my fiance and I are making for my future father in law. He collects Christmas stuff, and has sheds and sheds full of it. (This is no exaggeration.) So we're never sure what to get him. These are microscope slide pendants made with American Lung Association Christmas seals sandwiched between them. I have all the years from 1917 up, but somewhere in the 70's the stamps became abnormally sized, so we're stopping at 73. Some of the years have more than one. :o) I think he'll really like this. (There are around 30 here, so I've got lots more work to do, since we're celebrating this Sunday!)

I'm sorry the pictures are out of focus - I think my camera finally went to camera heaven just now, so let's hope I get one for Christmas! Hee.

Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year! )

hey, I'm looking for some creative and unusual ways of wrapping presents. This year my family and I have decided against wrapping our presents traditionally, for fun and to encourage recycling in this awefully over packaged time of the year.
So please, if you have any ideas, or something you do every year, please share.

heres some of my ideas:
-good old news paper comics
-stamping your own paper
-collaging a box
-wrapping in fabric with lots of buttons and ribbon

I'm also wondering how I should go about wrapping this: I bought a bag of Jelly Bellys and, without thinking it would break, tossed it on my carpet. but BAM the bag burst open. So now I'm thinking maybe I should put them in a pill bottle or Jones bottle.

ok so for my final project for photo we had to take pictures dealing with "perception." we could basically do anything we wanted. so i did toto's view on the wizard of oz and i have no clue as to how i should display it. i was thinking of making a book but i don't know how to do any book binding, that could be a problem but i could ask my other art teacher for help with that. but i was just wondering if anyone had any really awesome ideas about how to display the photos (8 in all).

thanks for any help. also if this kinda of post isn't allowed feel free to delete it, i'm just hoping i can get some really cool ideas from all you crafty people out there!!! thanks again!

I've tried looking online but so far I haven't had any luck. Does anyone know where I could find a pattern for a stuffed animal of a cat? Any help at all is appreciated. :)

is there ANY way to get acrylic paint off of fabric? it's dry and the article in question has already been through the washing machine... I tried scraping at it a bit with my fingernail but didn't get very far...

I saw a segment on the Carol Duval show today talking about embossing on glass candle holders.

What they did:
Using an embossing ink pen, they drew the design on the glass, then dumped some embossing powder on it. Dumped off the excess, then ran the heat gun on it just like you would on a card.

Now, I'm wondering if anyone has tried something like this, as I am a little concerned with how the heat from the candle effects the embossed part.....would the votive holder heat up too much and just re-melt the embossing powder or would it need to be hotter......

If it doesn't re-melt it, this would make a wonderful gift idea. Tons of posibilities.....

Today I learned that Shrinky Dinks don't come with the pattern on them already you actually have to trace them, so the sheets are blank. That's great news to me because for a while now I've been wanting to just make my own shrinky dink crap. So here is my first attempt with a drawing of my dog the mister, he's a sexy beast. Does anyone else make art with shrinky dinks? I'm going to begin drawing portraits.:

So, I'm going to work one day and I go and brace myself to unlock the door (one of those toughies that you have to pull and push to unlock) and rip my pants right up the ass! And so I took it as a opportunity. I've been wanting to try and crochet a scarf that would allow me to weave some fabric in.

It's not amazing, but I kinda like it. )

For Christmas, I've decide my present to my sister will be her grad dress. Now, I went to Fabricland (I'm Canadian) and picked out some satin and some lace to overlay.
They were having a sale, so the satin cost like 8 bucks for a couple yards, and to my surprise, the freakin' lace was 30 bucks. . .half price! I misread the sign! I was super shocked. I mean, it's still a pretty cheap grad dress altogether (better than paying $100+ for the same thing), but I've just never spent that much on 2 yards of anything before.
I guess the moral of the story is: always double check the prices when you're on a budget. I don't know what she would've done if I'd said "I can't buy that, sorry". I'm just too passive, methinks.
I will try to get a picture of her in the dress in a few weeks.

Does anyone have any good methods and products for cleaning old ink off rubber stamps? I'm starting to amass a little collection of them and I want to make sure they stamp just as nice the 100th time as they did the first. Thanks!
[identity profile] priscilla-kp.livejournal.com

So I made hats with the Knifty Knitter for my friends for Christmas, but i think they are kind of plain, I was wondering if anyone had any patterns or anything about how I could make a flower out of yarn to attach it or just really anything to dress up the hats a bit.
It needs to be fairly simple becuase I need to have these done by Friday.

Thanks and Ill post pictures when I finish them
