Some more stuff... first, there is a book I bound in the summer (my first real book), and then a little Jack and Sally watercolour painting I did, and a clay piece that I still have to paint and turn into a clock (see the hole? that's where the hands will go :D)!
The pictures are very large, beware!!!

My first venture into Amigurumi.

Big Bad Riding Hood?

Little Red Riding Hood seems to be having a few problems, she says that she can't shake the feeling that the Big Bad Wolf is stalking her.

We spoke with the Big Bad Wolf and he says he just wants her to get off his back so he can go on with his life.

rrh2rrh3rrh1

This was a learning experience in the making (mostly how long these little guys take to make! UGH!)

Does anyone know any good resources, books, or sites with more info on Amigurumi?

I saw a cute website with the girl making the cutest panda bears ever, so I tried my luck. Let's just say that it didn't turn out quite as planned, but that I still love it!

Any ideas for what should come next?

so, like the deep-down nerd that i am, i've begun venturing into the world of cosplaying. this year, i'm planning on going as nausicaa from the miyazaki movie of the same name. not wanting to make my costume at the last minute like i did last year (limited time + limited sewing skills + lots of stress = BAD IDEA) i'm starting on it now with my plans to wear it in may. the thing is, she's got these gloves and i have no idea how to make gloves. i know they'd probably be more or less considered gauntlet gloves, but i've looked around the internets and haven't found much of anything. so i thought i'd see if you lovely people had any tips or knew of some patterns or anything. it's greatly appreciated.

and so this isn't text only, here's the costume i made last year. )

Okay, so I was making candles in terra-cotta clay pots (small ones...like 4 inch maybe?) and I poured the melted wax in, centered the wick and put a piece of wood to keep it straight. I come back after church, its hardened, but it sunk in and I'm afraid the wick curved to the side. Should I top it off with more melted wax or trash the thing? I hope it can be salvaged, I need to have these things done so I can give them out tomorrow.

soap making questions!

1)I have checked the faq but I am after places that are either in the UK or that ship here.

I am after spooky moulds, basically cute bats, coffin shapes, skulls etc.. as I can't find any on uk sites I've found & ebays proving to be useless too.

The cheaper the postage costs for non-UK sites the better I'm a poor student ;)

2)This is in the faq but thought I'd ask anyway, I have random chunks of soap all around the flat, mostly lush soaps (if that makes a difference) would it be possible to melt them down & re-make a soap with them?

the post in the faq does say soaps that are 'beauty bars' don't work but I have a mixture of melt & pour and lush soaps here so would those work?

I made these frames with plain old magazine cut outs. I am afraid that the gloss might warp it or ruin it. Any tips? I just don't want to ruin all my hard work.

Under this cut are my proud wrapping jobs, and the jewelry I made. Also close ups of the frames. There are quite a few pics but they're pretty small, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Come see! )

Thanks

I'm not TOTALLY sure this qualifies as a craft, but it uses a fake flower, that's crafty. And I've seen costume stuff here before. But, mods remove this if it's not allowed.

My art teacher gave a different jagged shape to everyone in class and told us to incorporate ours into a project. Here's mine. My lovely friend Christine was kind enough to help me out, and to put up with me glueing stuff to her face.

I have organized a "secular secret santa" at the fabulous coffee shop I work at. I decided I want to do mostly crafty stuff, because it's generally the best way to get the most out of the small budget we set. The problem is, the girl who I drew to "gift" is super crafty herself, so I have to make sure I kick ass. Thus far I have made a record bowl and coffee/orange scented soaps. My next project will be to etch a glass ashtray, problem is....

This is Hercule, the chubby little owl that I made to sit under my Christmas tree until I get presents under it. The fabric behind him is the fabric that I'm using for my tree skirt. My decorations are shiny red and gold, and that light green, so it'll fit right in.

I love that his little wings look like he's reaching out to hug you.

I haven't seen any tutorials about how to make a zipper bag, a bag made out enterely of a huge zipper. I don't know if you know what I mean...They're like this

In this case the zipper is one side green and the other side white. It's only a zipper wich you can open and have a large useless zipper, but as soon as you close it, it's a bag, purse...
Once you have made one, it must be pretty easy, but the problem lies in the corners, how to saw there the zippers...

I have a little purse made like this and (if I find it) I could make some pics...I was last week in London and the price of the big bags was 70£, too expensive..so I was wondering if there was any pattern or tutorial or whatever about this.

Thanks a lot!
(Sorry about the explanation, it may be not well understood, but in english I can't do it much better *^_^*)

I made my boyfriend a stocking for christmas! I had planned on a black stocking with a white skull, but apparently I can't do skulls. So I did the next best thing and made a heart.
All hand sewn.

I wrapped all of his presents, and then put them in the stocking and wraped that too. He loved it. =D I have loads of felt left, so I might make a few animals for the fun of it XD

Winter holidays are a great time to make more jewelry, ne? Forgive the fact that I have the lousiest camera ever, but feel like showing off anyway.

So I'm making ipod covers for my sister and her husband for xmas, but I myself do not have an ipod. So I don't know if they need any kind of vent holes to keep from overheating. I have looked at the dimensional drawings on apple.com, but they dont' indicate what each hole is for. Does anybody know?

I picked up this really pretty table from the trash today on my way to work. It needs nothing but glass

now, I KNOW you are the nicest, smartest people on the internet and can tell me where I can get glass cut on the cheap... :D

My camera is out in the car or else I'd take some pictures of... something... lol

PS. Does anyone know where to get used mandrels?

PPS. I have been informed that surface porosity in mandrels == bad, if that would affect any answers. :/

well i've been mostly a lurker around here for a long time, now finally i have something to post. hopefully more to come as i have many weeks of holidays still ahead of me. this took me two days, working and hour or two each day. i am pretty pleased with it, as it is one of my first bags and nothing went horribly wrong. next time i'll make the strap wider i think. i am still not sure if i like the front design, i think now i should have just left all the words except 'smile' off, but oh well.

Hi everyone, sorry that this is a text only post, but I was wondering if anyone has marketed their products on Usenet groups, and if so, which ones have you been successful with? I'm looking to expand my store's marketing range from LJ and don't know much about finding good usenet groups. Hopefully someone can help me. :)

If this post shouldn't go here, mods, please let me know & I'll remove...

I got a few soap supplies from a friend, and one of the things in the package was a lot of "olive oil melt and pour soap base bulk logs." Does anyone know how to use this stuff? Can I add fragrances and clay and stuff like that, or will it be ruined? I usually make soap from scratch, with oils and lye and stuff -- this is a new one on me! And I'm happy to play with it, but I want to play without ruining the trace or making it seize or stuff.

Help? Sorry for the all-text post.
