Soooo.....

Valentine's Day is coming up. What are we crafting?

On a more selfish note, I cannot afford sexy lingerie. Ideas?

WOOH! Awright, I got pics of halfway through and the completed scale dice bag. Man, I must have taken apart and put that entire thing together about 3 or 4 times over the course of creating it, trying to find a good method to make it look like not crap :p

In either case, the pics:
lj-cut since it's pretty image-heavy. About 250k worth total )

Anyhoo... bit of story about it. A while ago, I mentioned making this back when I was still contemplating how to make the shirt. I originally started thinking of possibly a sideways-scale method, but that sucked. I went through a few normal scale contractions and even more custom scale contractions (especially in the top-half) to close the bottom and contract the top. As you can see at the top (sorry about the blurry image btw), I did a 90 degree seam, but did it in a way that makes it more unique. I kinda tapered the scales off at the top instead of doing a full final few rows. Then, I 90 degree'd all of the parts inbetween the tapering. You get the idea.

And for the sake of being interesting (and avoiding the string, soon to be a leather strap, from pulling a ring apart), I king's mailled the top row (which was done every-other ring to avoid bunching), and mobius'd the king's part. King's mobius? Eh, whatever you call it.

And so, we have a round, ball-like scale dice bag. Stats are 14ga (according to Home Depot) galvy, 5/16" ID rings. Not sure of weight since I don't have a weight scale of any sort though. It'd look cool hanging at your side when wearing a full suit though :}

What thinks people?

Eh, and while I'm at it, here's the chainmail shirt I finished about a month ago: )

I love it when I get inspired. I present to you...

Crystalline Flower )

I had been trying to figure out a way to make flowers out of beads and I finally came up with a way that I liked. The necklace and flower are made out of faceted glass beads (large and small) and sterling silver wire. The necklace took about an hour to make, but I made another flower this morning and it was much quicker (I think).

Anyhoo, I just thought I'd share what I do 80% of the time. The squids are mostly a side project (a dearly loved project, but a side project none the less) and it's the jewelry that really keeps my mind going.

Splash-

Another water-esque piece, I'm so into the water element! I'm loving these light aqua colors.
This one features a few beautiful faceted glass buttons on the top of the pendant, a lucky find at the op shop.

Hi, I've been looking in the memories section about image hosting but a lot of it seems to be out of date. I just wanted to let people know that they can upload unlimited photos of unlimited size with unlimited bandwidth, for free and forever at Ourmedia. At the moment Ourmedia is still in Alpha mode, but the images are hosted on the Internet Archive, so they stay there forever.
The reason I posted this message was simply because some of the entries I have looked at had broken links to images, bandwidth exceeded messages etc.

Cheers,
Hin

nb: anything you post on the internet is lost to the world anyway, so you may as well just leave it up forever. Oh, and this isn't an ad.

Hi, Sorry in advance for such a boring post but I checked the memories and didn't see anything that related with my question 100%. I'm a high school student that is planing on starting an online business where I'm going to sell my zines, crafts, and maybe some music from independent bands. I'm ethier going to do ebay or my own site, I'm leaning more toward my own site.

Now to the questions. I went onto the US Postal Service website looking at PO Box options and found jibberish that I really don't understand, each PO Box has a certain size (I get that much lol) but i was wondering

1. what size PO Box do you have? (if you have a craft busniess like I am planning to start)

2. on the PO Box pricing chart it has what's called a fee group numbered from 1-E do any of you know what that means, and if you do know what fee group our you in or how do you get put in a certain fee group here is what the chart looks like:

  Box Size and Fee
Fee Group 1 2 3 4 5
1 $37 $53 $105 $216 $348
2 $31 $47 $84 $179 $332
3 $25 $40 $72 $124 $220
4 $20 $36 $66 $116 $184
5 $14 $23 $36 $69 $132
6 $13 $19 $35 $63 $102
7 $9 $14 $24 $42 $74
E $0 $0 $0 $0 $0
(the numbers on top 1-5 are just the sizes of the boxes, 1 being the smallest 5 being the biggest)

and my last question

if i go the ebay route do you need to/should you get a PO Box

Here is a giant candy corn plush I made. He has a very bad attitude. I would not recommend trying to eat him.

Personally, I like candy corn, although I hear other people don't.

which method do you guys prefer for making hollow books and which one works better? Any different methods to try?

1. soaking 8/10ths of the pages in wheat paste and then hollowing it as/after it dries

2. hollowing it and then brushing each page/edge with wheatpaste

and:
is there any way to make pointy toed flats round toed? I've got these velvet pointy toed flats from old navy but I despise the point. they were only $6 so it's worth the experiment..

p.s.
I will post photos of my friend's "pregnant belly" soon!

I did these guys for a monster exchange a while ago and thought I would share them. As you can see sewing is soooo not my specialty. :)

Question for all ya'll...

Has anybody ever used the "Sew Crafty Mini"? Picture of it here )

If so? What can it do? What's the maximum job it can handle? Would it work on tees?

Any help would be appreciated, since my roomie bought it for me for christmas, and I'm REALLY eager to test it, I just don't do any scrapbooking, and don't want to try something that's going to kill it.

Thanks!

i finally finished the knitted hat i've been working on. this was my first circular knitting project and i did it using four 10.5 double-pointed needles instead of circular needles. i thought it was really fun to do it this way except that the garter stich allowed me to mess up quite a few times. i had to undo huge portions of it but now it's all done and cute.

the streak is from the mirror, not the hat

I didn't see this in the FAQ so here's my question:
I've seen a couple of posts showing pictures of items made for a "sampler". Where can I get more information on contributing items and just general details?

I am looking for a cheap source for some really fine [1mm or so, no bigger than 2mm] silver chain.
I found something that looks good on fire Mountian Gems, but it's only sold in 50 foot spools, but there's no reason for me to get so much, nor can I afford $60 on chain I'd use once >_>

Thanks in advance ^^
