What an exciting, inspiring community!

I make handsewn leather goods, frequently from remnants and recycled thrift store jackets, etc. This is made from a remnant of shiny navy blue embossed leather that I haven't seen anywhere before or since.

Another, non-question post!

Thanks for looking! And sorry for the initial cut-screw up. I screwed up the cut, because I'm dumb.

So I'm vaguely drawn into the diea of math based knitting projects, scarves specifically at the moment. Last night I started knitting one that is just one the first row alternating K1, P1, on the second row alternating K2, P2, and so on, up to K10, P10 and back down, and just repeating that cycle, it gives a really funky pattern.

So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/patterns for math-inspired kntting (if you have any with logarithms/exponents/prime numbers, I will love you forever).

Thanks! And sorry it's text-only, but I shall post my mathesque scarf when it's done!

I know this isn't a knitting community, but this IS craft-related, sort of. Mods, if you feel this is off topic, feel free to delete it. I just hadn't seen any mention of it here, and I thought it was a good cause. I didn't start this, by any means; I'm just spreadin' the word.

I have a ton of these really boring really plain plastic-y binders that I use for my classes

I really want to decoupage some fabric [or some other similar technique] to them but I'm not sure if it would work on the material of the binder.

Anyone have experience?
Or any other ideas to make them more interesting?
I'm up for anything but stickers. :]

I've been working on this table for a LONG time, but it's finally done! It took a long time just to get all the caps, I had to drink a lot. lol. It also took a long time to get all the excess grout off the top of the caps. The table was $13 at Ikea by the way. Here's some pics... )

*By the way, I am SO GLAD that I found this community. All of you are so talented and have some awesome ideas! I wish I could make some of the stuff that i've seen in here. The crafts I like to do most are scrapbooking, decoupaging, & some sewing (although I suck at it! hehe). Looking forward to posting more later. :o)

this is a very simple question that probably has a very simple answer but i keep getting different answers on how to go about it.

all i want to do is make bookmarks. I've done them in the past and they were, lets say not up to my standards.

what is the best type of materials and techniques to use when going about making bookmarks.

thanks!

p.s if any of you guys made bookmarks i'd love to see

Does anyone know what colors would dye well over a creme/off white? I ordered a shirt from threadless.com (odd but cute) and I LOVE the design, but the color doesn't look good on me at all:P I was wondering if anyone knew a good way/color to dye the main fabric of the shirt without adversely effecting the design?

I made these little bags from this tutorial for a charity fair coming up in two weeks time. they only measure around 22cm (8 1/2') wide which make them just big enough to fit the essentials for a tea party. Although it's not my first time sewing, I'm far from a confident sewer, but i think these turned out quite cute.

Please tell me what you all think, and possible improvements i can make on the future bags i'm making.

Hi!
Does anyone know of any online website that sells cheap bulk plain t-shirts that doesn't have overpriced shipping to the UK.
I'm not really looking to buy like 100 t-shirts, just 10. But i'd like them wholesale prices.

Thanks in advance! xxx

I would really like to start making "bling" rings. I'm looking for simple silver toned rings with loops for adding charms, etc.

Does anyone know where I can buy these in bulk?

Made as part of a swap angel deal on Crafster.org...only one picture because my camera is angsty and refused to take any more.

(Yeah, I know it looks like it says "URP," blame whoever drew the album art.)

It's made of felt and hand-embroidered. This is the back, the front has openings for the screen and dial and such. Tutorial coming soon; it was super simple to make (though the process was complicated a bit by the fact that I don't have an iPod).

Just Wondering...
I have been trying to find out how to make my own rose water, but all the sites I have found really confuse me... (Something about putting a bowl over a rock... WTF?)
So does anyone know how to make rose water? (In simple words, I'm very blond.)

Let me say now that Fun Fur is a whore to work with, knitting OR crocheting! It works up best combined with other yarns (like Lion Boucle or Microspun - I am a Lion Brand patron, yes. LOL), but I still think the person who created it was ever-so-slightly sadistic.

But it IS adorable. It's approximately 4' long (haven't measured it, but it's shorter than some of my other scarves) and veeeeery soft!

YOU WILL NEED:
- 2 skeins Lion Brand Fun Fur in Mexicana (or whatever you want - I made one in black for a friend, because I like to suffer)
- size I (9.00 mm) crochet hook

Chain 15. Double crochet in second chain from hook and each chain across: 13 dc. Chain 3, turn.

Double crochet in second stitch from hook and each chain across: 13 dc. Chain 3, turn.

Repeat until yarn is used up. Weave in ends.

Easy pattern, yeah, but doing anything more complicated would have made me scream!

I'm about 3/4 way through an afghan made with Jiffy Thick'n'Quick in Rocky Mountains, and it's my very first afghan! My mom taught me to crochet when I was 10 and she's spent her life making baby afghans, adult afghans and white thread Christmas ornaments - she is very talented and much more patient than I am.

I've also made a scarf out of Moda Dea 'Ticker Tape' yarn, which is hella pricey for craft store yarn ($9/skein, which only got me through half the scarf, even using the most economical pattern I could think of), and I'll put that up on my website someday with the pattern. :)

w00t, crocheting r0x!

So, I made a whole lot of bags over winter break. All my friends went back to school a week before I did, so what's a girl to do? Craft, of course (and watch endless seasons of Friends on DVD, obviously)

I need help desperately! I volunteered to make a 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" unfinished square for my cousin's cancer quilt and I have no idea what I'm doing! My aunt said something about the blocks being set "on point," but I'm not sure what that means? I bought three different materials, because what I want to do shoul come out looking something like this, but I'm not sure how to accomplish that...Can someone help me?!

Hey there! My name is Erica. its almost my friend's 21st birthday!!! and she would love nothing more than to go out and celebrate till the weeee hours of the morn. so, we got to talkin and she mentions something about wantin to blow out a candle, but she doesnt think she'll be eatin much that night. just all booze, go figgah. so, think its possible for me to make her a FLOATING number 21 birthday candle to put in her drink?! im concerned bout safety, practical application and just the general ridiculousness of it all. i could make a mold im guessing, but how do those floating suckers work anyway? special wax? magic gnomes? i mean, they defy gravity!

//edit.::. upon the much needed advice, my fly by night idea wont fly well t'all. SO i'll make a candle with a pretty candle holder to go with. and no worries folks, shed just rather drink than have cake plus shes a pro at drinkin already, she knows her limit. thanks for all the help!

My hope with this year, and my personal goal is to make some jewelery that isn't so junky. Sure I'm fabulous at taking crazy things and making them into charms, but that doesn't mean I can put a decent pair of interesting and non junky earrings together. Tonight I've been practicing with a few designs. I'm going to be thinking all night about creating something new, unique and beautiful.

I met my boyfriend when he was dressed up as a giant bat and I was dressed as a zebra. Personally, I think it's a pretty great 'so how'd you two meet' story. Next month is our one-year anniversary. I originally made the little creatures to serve as rear-view mirror danglies for his slick new car, but I only discovered after finishing them that my boyfriend doesn't like rear-view mirror danglies for his slick new car. Something about not having anything blocking his vision, pff.

Never one to be discouraged, I turned them into something for myself instead! See more... )
