A huge amount of felt stuff
Feb. 16th, 2006 12:34 amHoly crap! I haven't posted in FOREVER! Here's some crap I made recently. It's a bunch of pins, magnets, and a hair clip.

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here - but I've been browsing through this forum for a while now. I love looking through all the great projects and finding inspiration from them! Lately I've been doing alot of crocheting, so here's some stuff I've made recently:
Katamari Ichigo & Prince

I like drawing but I'm not very good at it. But that's besides the point.
My sketchbook has been getting kind of ratty and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how to cover it. Thanks in advance!XD
I made my boy a cute little stuffed animal for v-day but my camera is broken so I'll post pics later.
P.S. everyone in this community is AMAZING and I envy you all.

Heya, this is actually
ashea, just posting from my new craft journal (which I acquired so that I could save everyone on my friend's list from me going nuts over the many, many crafty things I've been obsessed with lately :P)
Anyway. Dunno what's been up with me and the moogle thing - I mean, first the hat and now ( THIS... )
Go figure :P
This little dude is made with Sculpey clay around a wire & foil armerature. Painted with acrylics and sprayed like ca-razy with laquer to make it shiny. Going to try for a cactaur and possibly a chocobo in the near future...because I'm a DORK like that :P
Hope you enjoy!

fabric paint
Feb. 16th, 2006 05:28 pmSo after looking around the craftgrrl and _stencilry mems, I've still got a question. I'm in the middle of stenciling a shirt for my (now ex) boyfriend's Christmas present (I KNOW, I KNOW...shh!), and I'm using DecoArt So Soft fabric paint. I've used this stuff before on plenty of other t-shirts, and not really had any problems, but this bottle is apparently different. The paint is much thinner than I'd like for it to be, and I'd rather not do a bajillion coats just to cover the shirt color. Is there any way to (quickly) thicken up fabric paint? I have $2.31 to last me until my tax returns come, so buying another product isn't really an option. I'll mix white paint with it if I have to, but I'd like to maintain the same shade of paint if possible. I kind of want to stick the bottle in the fridge for a little while...haha is this a completely stupid idea??

Feb. 16th, 2006 05:33 pmAnyone have any ideas on a pin display? Like those things that you hang your earings on but for pins?

Feb. 16th, 2006 06:23 pmSo my mom got these cookies for Christmas and she's enamored by how lovely they are. She's interested in sealing them with, what else, food shellac, to preserve them for future use as ornaments. Only, according to Google, there's no such thing as food shellac! The only thing it'll pull up is several websites about that scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where Chevy Chase coats his snow saucer with cooking spray. :|
ANYWAY. So what is that we use to do that, anyway? Is it good old fashioned Minwax Polyurethane, or canvas sealant, or what? I feel at a total loss about this. Thanks in advance, ladies!

Feb. 16th, 2006 08:35 pmHiya! I made some polymer cake charms a while ago and I really do like the way they turned out. I wanted to make strawberries, but failed miserably so opted with plain red berries.

Feb. 16th, 2006 08:41 pmSo me and my friend have VERY many detentions. I asked the special ed coordinator if she had anything for us to do and she asked me and her to paint one side of her walls with colorful pictures or graffiti or anything. I was just looking for some ideas. Thanks <3
this is the first crochet purse i've made, and i based it on the interweave textured tweed clutch pattern.
(you can see it here - http://www.interweavecrochet.com/materials.asp#textured)
( i am so in love with it )

"Curiouser and Curiouser"
Feb. 16th, 2006 09:52 pmHello, everyone. I was wondering if all of you crafty people make your mark on your creations and if so, how? In other words, do you sign your name, write your initials, or have a symbol on your work that makes it yours? Do you do this for some projects and not others? Do you only do this for things you'll be selling?
Fangirl Rampage 3
Feb. 16th, 2006 10:07 pmI know this isn't exactly a craft post, but I'm a writer, and this is a craft for me. I'm looking to get some feedback on the column and share it with a more diverse group of people. I hope that's okay.
My third Fangirl Rampage column went up today... I'm interviewing my friend Mary, another really cool girl who reads comics. Stop by and check it out. =)

liquid soap?
Feb. 16th, 2006 10:42 pmchecked the memories but it's all bath bombs, bath salts, and soap bars/molds..
does anyone know how to make liquid soap?
(just to give an idea, this is my favorite soap right now because i got it on sale at bath&body works but i usually just buy dial liquid soaps ).
i prefer it over bar soap, since the containers that hold bar soap for washing hands tend to leave lots of water puddles around the sink. and i'd like to make some if it would save me money in the long run instead of buying them over and over.
thanks!

Feb. 16th, 2006 11:32 pmI made my first shirt from scratch the other day, from a few yards of vintage fabric that my mom had up in the attic:
