does anyone know about painting on leotards? i havent seen the material yet - but i assume its lycra or something of the like, i need the finished product to be as "fluid" as possible in that this is for a series of costumes (minimum of 75).

i dont think acrylics would work, as it would leave the fabric stiff.

Any ideas?

Hullo, just posted this to [livejournal.com profile] punk_knitters too, sorry if you got it twice.

My friends are having a baby, but are having trouble finding baby clothes that they like, they're both punks and pretty much all baby clothes are really gendered and in pastel colours. So I knitted a little cardi for the sprog which hasn't arrived yet. I can't see it fitting for long because it's newborn size and absolutely tiny, but it was worth knitting it to see their faces when I gave it to them ^_^

Also I put on a Ghost World badge, start 'em young I say. I was tempted to put my LimpxWrist badge on that has a fella pissing in his own mouth on it, but I couldn't bear to part with it.

Anyhow, my knitted effort under the cut...

Has anyone tried stamping on vinyl or plastic? What would be a good, staying, drying and non-bleeding ink? Anything permament? I have this fabulous idea, but I don't want it to smear again. :)

I was recently feeling inspired to create some hand made cards, so I decided to try embroidering them, and the results turned out much better than I expected. I'd never embroidered anything before in my life!

Shall update with the end result soon. At the moment i've only got "H-A-P-P-Y J-". I'll post a pic to make that sound less crazy soon

I just signed up the other day for Freecycle. And there was a post on there today from a lady giving away fabric. I emailed her and she responded. I went to her house, and she had PILES and PILES of fabric! Seriously! Her mother was a seamstress and she recently passed away. I would've loved to have it all.... but she asked that you only take a bag or two full, so that others could share the wealth. So, I picked out my favorites - 2 bags full! Some of it is maybe a 1/2 yard to a yard... some just snippets. But 3 or 4 of them are like 3+ yards! SCORE!

And the other day, I was helping my mom and grandmother clean out the attic and I found a bag of clothes from the 70's. It is very tacky for clothes... but would make some awesome purses or coin pouches!

Now, I just need a working sewing machine and I need to learn to sew something other than pillows and curtains! LMAO! My daughter picked out a few she liked so that I can make her some Barbie clothes. IF I can! :)

And now...... feast your eyes upon the fabric-gasm!

Ooh.... ahh!!!!  )

I am fulfilling a wish from a wishlist swap. Someone asked for hair gizmos. I had so much fun making them.

(m)alice
(m)alice was once a perfectly ordinary, if not particularly nice, girl. her name really was alice, and while she was in the habit of spitting on sidewalks and stepping on ladybugs - she wasn't too terribly unusual. then, then she had her accident. no one knows exactly how it happened, but there was a very nasty fall down her grandmother's very steep stairs and some very nasty bruises on her head. since then, she spends all of her time chasing rabbits. no one dares to ask what happens if she catches one.

(ingrediants: sculpey, hair, paint, bits of trim, wire, ribbon and spite.)

i know doing a "spooky" alice is very common, but i couldn't help it. and i rather like this little girl. even if she does seem the sort to kick me in the shins and run off with my cat.

Hello all! I'm looking for the post on making a scrapbook from scratch out of paperbag tutorial. I looked through the memories already but I can't find it. I think it was posted around February or something.

I really need to look for this tutorial! Or perhaps something similar :) My seniors in my after school activities club (erm, in Singapore, we call it 'Co-Cirricular Activities' or 'CCA') are stepping down and we want to make them a scrapbook each. Apparently, there are only 3 graduating seniors in the CCA I'm in, so we only have to make 3.

If the one who created that tutorial is reading this, or those who bookmarked that tutorial, or something, can you please tell me the link to that entry or something? Please!!

so there's a big post going on in hot_fashion discussing these lovely pieces of jewelry....some think they're made of shrink plastic, but from looking at a lot of websites for them, it looks like they're about twice the thickness of shrinky dinks, at least the kind you get in sheet form. soooooooooooooooo. any ideas on how to duplicate this stuff? i remember yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago in seventh grade shop cutting out keychains from sheets of acrylic with some sort of industrial saw thing (possibly a jig saw?) but for some reason, i don't think that's how all of these are happening. in any event, i'd love an alternative to spending $30-$50 on one of these necklaces. one example:
 necklace
i would link to the original hot_fashion post, but its friends only. another option to acrylic that was mentioned was poly carbonate? either way, i probably have access to whatever kind of plastic i would need, and access to a jig saw...i'm almost wondering tho if you could do this with some sort of heat tipped tool?

edited to add:  if you need more ideas on how these look,

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can buy colored chain for use in jewelry making? I have been looking online all night tonight and have had no luck.

Thanks a bunch.

And, so this isn't just text only, here is a picture of one of my current jewelry pieces.

I am obsessed with birds and rhinestones lately.
