I have some DOTS and Gummi Bears I wanted to play with and turn into crafty things. Only thing I have right now to seal is acrylic sealer. would that work? or is the sticky candy too hard to seal?

Hey everyone!

I bought this purse a while ago, but I haven't used it that much. The reason is that part of the purse is an old painting done on black velvet, and the paint chips off when I use it.

two pictures )

So my question is: is there anything that I can spray on or put on the painting to make it not chip off? Whatever I put on would have to be flexible and not make the purse stiff.

Thanks for any advice!

Here are some markers I made for our garden last night. The stones came from the garden as we prepared the soil. They are painted with acrylics and then coated in a thick outdoor varnish so hopefully we'll be able to use them for many years. :)

Warning! Cutest fabric ever!

My cousin had a baby girl yesterday. I crocheted a really nice blanket for her two year old son when he was born, and whoops, did I ever forget that she had a scheduled c-section Friday. With no time to crochet anything nice and still wanting to give a blankie--fleece it was!

And now I wish it were big enough for me. )

I know there already is a comprehensive memories section for bags in this community, and I've looked through everything, but I feel there could be more for DIY bags out there on the Internet.

Does anyone know of any craft [non-selling] LJ communities that showcase LJ user's DIY bags like totes, purses, messenger bags, etc.?? The only one I could find was [livejournal.com profile] bagsofcharacter but that community mostly sells bags and it had no new posts since 2005 x_X

I just want an LJ community that focuses on the discussion of bag construction and sharing pictures of [only] DIY bags...but I can't find any. I want start my own if there absolutely isn't any, but I'm not the right person to since I haven't DIYed a bag in years. Any help would be appreciated :)

For the first time, I'm going to decorate the inside of an Altoid tin and I know a lot of you have done this before. So what, in your opinions, are good products (especially adhesives) to use for this activity and are there any special prep steps I should do? Thank you!!

sorry for the text only post but my mind is blocked. i have this wide tote bag that was my moms from '86 from this conference she went to and i thought it was cute (it had an earth on it with a rainbow and says save the earth on it...very eighties i know) so i'm using it for school and i'm kind of bored with it now. i don't care about the back of it but if i could i'd like to save the front, but it doesnt rally matter. theres no way i could screen print on it becuase the thing has print all over it...so does anyone have any suggestions about how i can spice up the bag?

thanks♥

p.s. picture post coming from me soon (tomorrow or monday)...i'm just finishing up a presant for my biffles and i will deffinately post pictures when i give it to them!

i picked up some remanents at lincraft today.
cut a bit, then ripped a bit (gotta love those fabrics you can rip), so that i had a 145cm long strip of fabric.
folded it right sides together and sewed it up, leaving a gap to turn it through.
turned it through and then top stitched and ta-da!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

a new head scarf for only 1.62. and i've still got more of the fabric left over, so i can make something else.
it also works as a tie belt.

i probably could have sewn it better, but hey, i wasn't aiming for perfection, just something quick and easy and new to wear out tonight.

mathilde
mathilde is prima ballerina in the imperial ballet. a great many men adore her and her dressing room is always buried in bouquets. but there is only one man mathilde adores, and even loves, back - the prince himself. he brings her roses after every performance and speaks only of his love, but they know it is not to be. afterall, he must marry a princess and she is only a dancer. so mathilde dances. and she tries very hard not to notice the royal box. and she wishes, as she takes her bows and dodges flowers, that she could grow old faster if only to quit the ballet.

(ingrediants and factoids: sculpey, paint, tulle, hair, wire, etceras. also, mathilde is very loosely inspired by the real ballerina mathilde kschessinska who had many a love-tangle with the romanov family. and also, i think she may be my very favourite.)

Hi everyone!
hopefully someone can help...
At the Bazaar Bizarre i saw a couple vendors who make money belts. i thought they were like aprons, but not quite, its to keep the money on you at craft fairs. Someone even made some for sewing, with a scissor loop and pin cushion. they used all sorts of cool fabrics, but dummy me was so caught up that i forgot to remember or at least grab a card from those people.

anyone know who makes those or where i can see pix of them?

thanks so much!

Most of you probably know this, but if you are looking for , they are in the crayon/marker aisle of Micheal's and NOT in the fabric marker section like ALL THE CLERKS WILL TELL YOU. And, they do NOT sell said fabric crayons at Walmart or JoAnn Fabrics.

Hopefully my wasted day will save you some time. :)

I saw a post over on the Allakhazam FFXI forums about a girl who crocheted a TaruTaru in full WHM (white mage) AF1 (artifact armor 1). This is from the game Final Fantasy XI: Online..

Anyway, I wanted to take on a similar project, so using the FFXI ModelViewer, I was able to take screencaps of my own character dressed in full BLM (Black Mage) AF, since that's the type of character I play in the game. I'm just sorta winging it and jotting down notes so that arms and legs will come out identitical. So far, I've completed her right arm:

Definitely a long-term work in progress, since there's no pattern. I'm hoping I'll be able to make the crocheted version even half as cute as my real character:
