I posted a while back about a pirate party i was throwing. There was alo0t of drama, and my dad took my beloved camera with his overseas so i didn't get many shots. I'm not sure this is craft but my J. and I made an awesomeness pirate ship cake for our friends 21st.Looky Looky )

Unfortunately i don't have a good photo. This is the best i could find.

Has anyone ever heard/or used the idea of starching fabric onto your walls if for example you live in an apartment and can't paint? I REALLY wanted to try this but i'm terrifed that the fabric wont stay up and it will be a waste of time/money/effort- or the opposite will be true and i wont be able to get the fabric back down. We aren't allowed to paint our dull white apartment walls but i really want to get my desposit back once we move out, so i can't ruin the walls.

what i am talking about:

If you happen to find yourself in Seattle, I recommend stopping by Wannabee on the corner of 52nd and Brooklyn. It's a coffeeshop and gallery that has amazing tables with things set into cast cement and currently has some really cool stencil-on-plywood portraits. Example of their deep craftiness: one of their windows got hit sometime last week, and they have done a temporary patch on it with a filligree silver disc and a metal scarab.
The coffee is good, too. I was inspired to finally post this when I went there today to get fuel to finish patterning the linen top I'm working on (pics eventually).

Sorry for the Text only post! I'm working on a costume for a small film and I need ideas for attaching spanish moss to a nylon body suit. I've already tried sewing it, spray adhesive, and several types of fabric glue. Fabric glue seems to work the best but nothing makes it durable enough to stay on for more than a few scenes. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced.

Son of a bitch! I can't remember how much lavender I had bought the first time I made dream pillows, but it lasted me a hell of a long time. I bought a pound of lavender off of eBay recently and it only made eight dream pillows. I still have a lot of pillows leftover to fill. I need to do an internet search later for some bulk lavender or maybe I'll check eBay again. Then there's the problem of not wanting to buy too much so I have a ton of lavender left over (although I could always use it for a soap add-in). I also made four pairs of silver earrings. I'll take pictures of those later.

I made this bag for a swap on Craftster. The bags are supposed to be summer-inspired.

don't look if you happen to be my swap partner )

I had no luck with the FAQ, or with google, so I'm hoping you talented and crafty ladies might be able to help me out. I figure I'm more likely to find an answer here than anywhere else.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I will be celebrating our 6 month anniversary in two weeks, and I already know he's gotten me a ring. No no, not an engagement ring, but think next step down from that. I was planning on getting him a ring as well, but his fingers are getting kind of crowded. So instead of getting him a ring he could wear, I'm thinking of making one that's kind of symbolic, but not wearable. The only material I have suitable for that (I think) is sculpy. I'm going to try my hardest to make some kind of classy and appropriate ring out of sculpy, so I was wondering if you all had any tips? Hints? Links? Is this maybe a bad idea?

That's kind of secondary though to what I really want to do, which is weave him a bracelet with leather lace. So, tips hints or links for that kind of thing? I can't find any decent diy "patterns".

So I wanted to try and see if I could make a waist cincher....

I took a cincher that I already had and traced the outline of each peice that made it up to make the pattern. Add in some scrap fabric I had and some plastic cable ties from the hardware store and my little adventure began! :P I used cable ties mainly b/c I was scared I was going to mess this up, so I didnt want to buy steel boning until I was sure I could do this right! Anyways.. this came out pretty good for my first time! And it's only the third clothing type item that I've ever sewn!

on to the cincher! )

Tomorrow I plan to try to make some candles.
I read the memories/faq about how you need to watch wax very carefully, but I'm wondering if that applies if you put the wax in a crock pot/slow cooker?
I remember my mom used to leave food in that thing all day when she was at work, but does it still render wax very unpredictable?
Thanks for any advice you have!
