So my one-year anniversary with the boy is coming up, and earlier this summer he showed me a Mario and Luigi quilt that he had seen on a SomethingAwful thread and commented on how cool they were and kinda jokingly asked me to make one. Well, I have three weeks left at home this summer and I figured hey, why not?

EDIT: Thank you so, so much for all of your comments! All of you were really helpful. I think I'm going to look for a simpler image to work with and see what happens (probably the red Mario mushroom); or, maybe just leave this project for Christmas instead. Thanks again!

I'm planning on making some barrettes and pendants and whatever out of a bunch of old motherboards and graphics cards I have around the house, but I'm having a fair amount of trouble cutting them up. They are very hard and brittle, with almost no give (computer parts, after all) I was thinking that a coping saw would probably do the trick, but I've only ever used them on wood, never for anything metallic. Would the edges be all sharp and scary? I would think if I sanded them, I'd be more likely to rub the sand from the paper. If anyone has done anything like this before, I'd love to hear the'r solution. Also, there are heat sinks and those breaker things that blow up and ruin boards instead of blowing up your whole computer and ruining everything, I forget what they're called, anyway, those are all over the place, and I think I'll have to melt the solder out of them to remove that stuff. If all else fails, I'm going to make a tandy computer guy out of sculpy instead.

I finished, in about half a day, the Anthropologie inspired capelet by julsey723 (on Craftster)! I knit mine on size 10.5 circular needles and less than 1 skein of Caron Simply Soft in black. I am so proud of myself!!!1 This is the first major knitting project I've tackled, as I usually stick to things like scarves and hats. This thing has SLEEVES! And this is the first time I actually had to use stitch markers! I LOVE STITCH MARKERS!

"What Can I do With . . . ?"!

That's right, everyone's favourite question. I've been on an origami kick lately, and have been folding a LOT (I mean a LOT - I have a 72oz Ziploc container FULL) of 2-d and 3-d origami creations (animals, flowers, you name it, I've made it). I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I can use these for. I also have tons more origami paper (people just keep *giving* it to me!), so anything that would involve folding new things is a-okay as well.

And just so this isn't text-only . . . here is a link to a picture of the very first costume I have ever made all on my own (last years involved help in the form of a pleated skirt). In case anyone's wondering, this is me as Sheena from Tales of Symphonia for the Game Cube.

Thanx!

i have about a dozen clippings from one of my magazines of nail polish bottels spilling nail polish. i would love to make something out of them, like magnets but obviously the paper is VERY thin.

i was wondering if any of you guys had ideas on how i could go about this.

thank you x10

so not long ago there were these skirts on the market that i always thought were silly looking... they are fitted on top and flare out at the bottom. they tended to have 2 or 3 seems down the front and back. they kind of reminded me of upside down flowers, or lampshades.

does anyone know what these skirts are called? i wanted to make one for a costume, but i have no idea what to google!

Tadaaa, a Wonder Woman-inspired wristcuff! I got halfway through making it when I decided to Google some pictures to verify that Wonder Woman did really wear cuffs like this, and I found I was quite mistaken. She just wore plain silver cuffs. So I just made it to be inspired by Wonder Woman, as it's more like her headband.

I found this sweet unfinished wooden drawer thinger that sat about six inches tall at a local dollar store for fifty cents.

Here's what I did to it.

So I've been busy a crafting this summer. Today has been especially productive. I woke up with my boyfriend working on a model ship (ha! Even he's crafty!) and it simply inspired me to start crafting a bit myself. =)

so, here is #5 of the things i like projekt i am working on.
i wasn´t a huge fan of tofu until i decided to live vegan when i was 16 or 17.
now, i think it´s great because it can be seasoned to taste like anything (spicey, salty or sweet), it just takes on the taste of what ever it is cooked with.

Hi! I have a project in the works that requires me to glue cured Sculpey to painted canvas panels. Does anyone have any recommendations for appropriate glues? Thanks!!

you know the laminate that short of has a wood grain feeling to it but obviously isn't real wood because it's ontop of flake wood? There is a oak colored desk that fits my needs but the other pieces we like are in cherry wood... how can I turn the oak into cherry, is it possible? or do I have to end up just painting it a plain color because it just doesn't come in cherry colored wood >_<

thanks in advance!
