Aug. 10th, 2006 02:17 amHi ladies!
A little while ago a girl posted some pictures of image transfers she did onto sculpey. Most memorably there was a picture of some eggs in a nest? They were all completely gorgeous, and I bookmarked the page as to attempt my own later, but alas a breif computer virus wiped my favorites lists and now I'm left without the link.
I looked in memories and found some info on the transfers, but they aren't as good as those ones the girl posted. Also her images seemed alot brighter etc.
If anyone knows the one I'm talking about, and has the link (Or you are that girl) please help me out?
I really want to try them!
Thanks!

chain supplies?
Aug. 10th, 2006 09:28 amHi, all. This is my first post. I scanned the memories and didn't see anything about this - does anyone know where I can find a selection of chains in offbeat colors? So far I've found one Chinese company with a pretty complicated website that sells aluminum chain in a rainbow of colors, but I couldn't find anywhere to contact them, and I suspect they have a very high minimum order anyway.
Other than that I've found virtually nothing! S. Axelrod Co. has tons of great stuff, but they too have a minimum order that is just too much money and too much stuff for me. This sucks! I can't even find a nice black chain.
Does anyone recommend anything?
Thanks gals.

Lining a crocheted bag?
Aug. 10th, 2006 11:40 amI´m preparing for a design market in a few weeks, and for the first time I´m thinking of selling some of my crocheted handbags. Haven´t finished the lining though... Just yarn makes them to soft, so I have to use a sturdy fabric on the inside.
The problem is, I don´t know how to sew the fabric and yarn part together in a way that both looks good and will hold. I´ve seen quite a few knitted and crocheted bags on this community, so I´d really appreciate some tips on how to go about with this. THANKS!

coasting away

Wow, it's been a long, long time since I've shown you guys anything. Not on purpose, o'course, and not because there hasn't been any crafting going on here. It's just been busy at Chez Sticky lately. But I made this pretty coaster! See?
Actually, I made four coasters, and I'm working on eight more. But that one there is the very first one of the very first set... it has three buddies that match it, even if they're a little less than perfectly square. They started because, well, a girl needs coasters and who ever thinks to craft coasters, anyway? Then I kept it up because they're great for using up my scraps (and boy, I have a lot of scraps) and they're pretty quick & easy, even with the patchwork and the quilting and the stupid bias tape. (Bias tape is stupid because I always poke myself while I'm pinning it. ALWAYS. And don't get me started on turning corners.) Most of the fabrics are vintage or repro and the backing and "batting" are recycled from old pants.
I think I might keep this set for myself, wonky edges and all, but the two other sets will be destined for the shop once they're done, one in pinks/florals and the other in kind of oranges/greens (not as hideous as it sounds, really).
So I've actually been a member here for a few months, but I was on exchange in France until about a month ago. Since I got back I've been crafting as much as possible!
Edit: I have a lot of purses. Many, many and in all shapes and sizes. Right now I have them hanging off of one of my bed posts, but they are really crowded, and hard to get to, etc. I was wondering if you lovely ladies had any ideas for how to organize purses? Thanks in advance!

Aug. 10th, 2006 03:32 pmso i finally finished a project this summer.
i'm not a big fan of pain, so i know i would not be able to get a tattoo.
so i stenciled a tattoo onto a hooded sweatshirt.
( i love how it turned out )

Aug. 10th, 2006 04:09 pmI have a question for you lovely crafters. I have two pairs of pants I just bought (for cheap, yay!) that have flowers embroidered on them, up near the pockets. I don't like the color of the embroidery and would either like to rip out the embroidery or dye it. It's thread, on dark denim on one pair and light denim on the other. I'm thinking a red dye. However, I don't want the dye to bleed like crazy all over the pants. I could also rip out the embroidery, but I tried with a seam ripper and it was slow going and didn't actually work all that well. Any thoughts would be welcomed.
Also, especially since this is a no-picture post, I thought I'd point you guys to About.com's beading section, specifically this African net necklace pattern.
Here is an alphabetical bead pattern database with quite a few patterns to choose from.
And here is the african net necklace pattern.
The net necklace is astonishingly easy, and works with all sorts of beads. I like to do five points of the pattern, then sew them into a circle through the beads at the top and make it into a flower. It's a really quick and impressive pendant for a necklace, or you can use 1 point of the pattern as an earring dangle. I use them as gifts. I'd just reinforce any point you hung the beading by with a little bit of wire through it.

Aug. 10th, 2006 05:37 pmI just finished my first quilt ever. It's a rag quilt, so the edge of each block is snipped so that it will fray over time and as you wash it. The idea was inspired by this great fabric:

Aug. 10th, 2006 09:13 pmboy o boy, it took me a long time but, i finally fixed the post about how to make that bracelet i posted yesterday.
i would still like any advice anyone may have on what materials to use to paint a canvas which will spend it's life outdoors. water and fade resistance is a must.
and to avoid the dreaded text only post, here's the after pic of a man's t-shirt i mutilated. ( Read more )

Here are some more of the tree paintings I've been working on.
So far this piece has 5 canvases that are finished.
Three more parts are in the works.
