hello Crafty people!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a little plan of mine come to fruition.

So, please let me know if anyone is interested... This can be a real stashbusting event....

::edit:: I am referring to this thread; wherin mean comments led to some really uncalled for insults.

http://community.livejournal.com/craftgrrl/9174096.html

Crafting isnt about what other people like, its about creating something that YOU like.

There are several things on this community that I havent really been turned on to.  I keep it to myself.  There may be things I am delighted to have made that others might find disgusting.    My mom always told me if you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all.

Lets be nice to each other and respect our differences.  Not to sound like an elementary school teacher (which, in fact, I am)but insults will do none of us any good.

We are all here to look at new and different things people make.  Remember, if its not your style, you don't have to leave a comment stating so.  To each their own.  The artist has every right to be happy with something they've created.

I've become a little hesitant to post things that I've made because I'm afraid to get comments about how hideous they are.

I'd like to feel welcomed and appreciated, no matter what I post.

Just my two cents, and to make this on topic:  Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting  my room.  I made the curtains out of a shower curtain, the mirror with covered cardboard (and the lamp matches,)  the white magnetic board, and the garbage can has colored velcro on it.

ok thanks everyone.

Greetings, crafters! Long time reader, first time poster.

I have a pair of cargo capri pants that fit GREAT at the waist and hip -- which is a tough thing to find, when you're a "curvy pear". I looked around for a tutorial on how to make other pants using my pants as a base, but almost all of them wanted me to break apart my current pants to make a pattern. No way! A couple of places mentioned using masking tape, but I couldn't find a tutorial. So I went ahead and made my own.

LJ scrapbook tutorial: making pants from other pants (without destroying the original pants)

(PS - I love how cats always manage to sneak into a picture when you're using the timer.)

i just moved back to college, and for some reason i decided to pack 3 decks of cards. i only meant to pack one, i just....ended up with 3.

either way, i have 2 decks (or potentially 3) that id like to do something with. i thought about punching holes in them and making some sort of wall hanging or a door hanger, but im not exactly fond of those ideas. once i painted the back of a deck of cards and glued them to a canvas, so i dont really wanna do that again - i have 2 of those.

2 of the decks have the same design on the back, one deck in black and the other in red, and the other deck has a weird diamond pattern in dark blue on the back. anybody have any other ideas on what i could do with them? i figured id ask around here before i just chucked them, i always get great ideas from yall.

thanks :D

I've been making quite a few hats lately, and I want one of the patterns to be a free pattern. I'd like opinions on which hat other people would like to be made the free pattern.

Follow the link to the pictures and to comment.

Thanks to everyone who drops a line.

kimono with ironed on butterflies...

the crafty part was 'applique-ing' the butterflies.
that was quite difficult.

I just moved to a new house and haven't been able to sew lately, nor did I have the internet 'til just the other day. I wanted to post something I made before I moved (I'm pretty sure I didn't post this before, moving makes things hectic)

I also am excited because I bought a sewing machine for $5.00 (Singer creative touch 1030) at a thrift store. Now I have my very own and my roommate can claim hers back since I took it over.

Ok, here it is!

It's big enough to hold I.D. cards, cash, pads, condoms, etc.

I can't wait to finish unpacking & painting so I can start sewing again! I have so many ideas for an autumn/fall theme!

Thanks

Our pottery studio participated in the Tiles for America contest, in which studios across the country sent three 6"x6" tiles to the memorial; two being the names of 26 victims of 9/11 and the other being a painting that will represent the studio's city and state at the memorial. Tiles for America currently contains close to 5,000 tiles and is one of the "only surviving spontaneous memorials to 9/11 that remains in New York City". Recently, the memorial was vandalised when hundreds of tiles, some painted by relatives and friends of victims, were smashed with a hammer. That, and the fact that "the city requested and received a portion of the fence for the three year temporary memorial at Ground Zero, has lead to a renewed call to action for both old and new participants in this project. The goal is to represent all the victims of that tragic day, as was originally done."

This is tile I painted that our studio sent up to NYC )

Pictures of the Tiles for America memorial )

Tiles for America can be found at the corner of 7th Avenue and 11th Street.

When I visited in December of 2001, I found it to be incredibly heartbreaking and moving. I feel honored to be able to be a part of it. I know its almost late, but I've been busy all day and I just wanted to share with anyone who might be interested.

Hey everyone,

First post. This isn't the craftiest thing I've ever done, but still neat. It's my boyfriend's birthday tomorrow, but I already gave him his gift. I took a shoe box and wrapped in parcel paper and drew the following on it
Photos )

He's really thrilled and so am I. :D

Tomorrow, we party!
