I'm not sure if this has ever been asked, but..
how would you go about fixing a hoodie with a broken zipper?
the zipper thing fell off so it can't zip up and it's always open.

thanx =]

Hats!

I'm working on coming up with one-skein hats, as the hats I've made so far have either taken more than one skein, or been made from huge skeins of yarn. I wanted to come up with a couple of hats made from one regular-sized skein of yarn.

Link to three pictures and a little information.

All comments, questions, and the like are welcome.

i'm thinking of adding some ruffles or something as well around the sleeves, but what do you think? i kind of feel like a leprechaun in this dress, but overall, i'm quite thrilled with it. :D

Okay, so.

I'm making real-life adaptations of these two costumes [Sandy and Sabochan of Tokidoki!] for my friend and I. I plan to make us corsets, mini skirts, legwarmers and for the top part...a shrug-style hoodie. My main problem is the spikes. I've thought about it and can't seem to come up with any material that will stick up off of the fabric and not just weigh down [one idea I had was to make them out of foam, somehow making the bottom of the cone solid and attatching a snap with the other snap portion on the fabric...but I'm not sure]. Also, attatching the spikes once I do figure out what to make them out of is an issue. Anyone got any ideas? Toss them at me. Thanks in advance!

I haven't actually finished this purse yet, but I'm very proud of it so far, and it looks like it could be finished as it is. I just want to add a latch to and maybe some more decorations. Well anyways here it is so far...

kimonos )

The long move is complete - I drove from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Portland, OR with boyfriend, cat, and sugar gliders in tow, and now I've finally settled in enough to make some new things.

The kimono with the red band has been fixed! The red now stops at the waist. Thanks for the advice. :)

Here are two links that keep coming up when I search kimono pattern.

I believe there is a Butterick pattern for a kimono (real pretty cover) and it is easy and that is how I got used to what the pieces looked like and
then added my own style.
Now I just look at the fabric and cut. :)

What do you all think is the best-selling button size (as in pin-back buttons)?
I'm interested in buying a Badge-a-minit machine, and I'd like to know what the best size to buy would be.

Thanks, and sorry for text-only

I've been getting crafty in my not-at-school hours.
I've got a lot going that I am proud of.
And I just love that monkey, despite his imperfections.
(I apologize for picture quality, my camera is old and goes crazy sometimes)

Apologies for the text-only post but I've been sifting through the Memories section, looking for a very specific artist's post. She creates jewelry from beads, wire, yarn, and other materials and names them after elements. I.E. one jewelry creation was named after a toadstool, one creation was named for fire, one for water etc. - and I seem to remember some of her creations had to do with peacock feathers. They're very organic and beautiful, and I cannot for the life of me find a jewelry post with her work in it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Much obliged!

hi all...
I'm thoroughly amazed at the responce towards my request for blankets.

as long as you guys are still interested, I'm thinking as for size-- a 6 inch square knit or crochet from worsted weight, washable yarn.  I suggest a 'G' hook, or #8 knitting needle.   But as long as its 6 inches square(if its off a little, I can do a make it fit by crochet/knit, but would rather not do that), any washable yarn weight will do.
I'm leaving the patterns up to you, be as creative or simple as you please (simple garter stitch, or single crochet squares are a good thing...)

As for a deadline, how does the end of October sound?    I figure that by the time they come in, I can have the blankets assembled and presented to the facility by Thanksgiving.

The reason I dreamed this up is that my maternal Grandma passed away and left myself and my mom a load of yarn, and I figure she'd like me to do something worthwhile with it...

Any and all interested, please e-mail me at bacasuso(at)earthlink(dot)net (yep, screwed up to hopefully keep the spam bots away) with 'Craftgrrl Blanket Squares' in the heading, so I can reply with my mailing address.  Squares from all over the world are appreciated, and, I will see if I can work up a certificate to mail to everyone who presents a square....

I will cross post on craftster, and, of course, anyone and everyone is allowed to crosspost this to any interested parties.

With admiration
