I found a free pattern online for wristwarmers out of Moonlight Mohair and I thought, How cool! So I printed it out. Several months later and after a *lot* more knitting than what I could do then, the local Hancock's was closing (I was in central NY all summer) and I found some of the yarn on sale, so I decided to give them a shot. Upon looking at the pattern after learning so much more about knitting, I said Hmm... these won't look very good (no offense meant to the writer of the pattern, it just wasn't what I was going for), so I decided to alter the pattern. I tweaked it and tweaked it, until I realized that the only thing I kept was the gauge reference.

PS, sorry for the ubercrappy pictures... they were taken by me, of me, on my cell phone, in my room, late last night. Yes, I managed to take a picture of both of my hands. It took some contorting and ingenuity.

NOTE: Edited to add approximate pattern!

It's been a long time since I posted anything (heck I can't even remember the last time I had posted). I got a laminated cabinet for free which I am currently painting as per hubby's request. I was happy to leave it alone but it was his idea to paint it.  After sanding and using gesso as a primer, it's starting to look pretty good in my own opinion.

I have never worked on something that was laminated before, so this is a first. What would work better in sealing it? What has worked best for you?

Thanks in advance!

I want to make a duct tape skirt to go with my halloween costume this year. I've read up on how to make the sheets to get started. But I'm a little lost on how to make shapes. I don't sew, don't have a dress form, and I really want it to be adjustable so I can wear it more than once. But I'm not sure how I go about doing that. Do I just start taping the sheets to my own body to get the shape? Any suggestions would be great!

"Queen So & So 2"
submission #2 for the Margot contest. Sort of a rough, natural . .whatever . .feel. This one stemmed from my first idea (posted earlier) and I like it much better. I would LOVE so much to win the contest, so there may be more entries . .  :p

Can anyone advise me on how to get good, professional-looking photos of one inch buttons? I have a lightbox and I tried taping them to a white piece of poster board and standing it up to take pictures but there's still too much of a glare. I tried scanning them but there's a glare when I do it that way too. I've seen it done before, I know people have succeeded in photographing buttons but I am feeling extremely inept here. Nothing I've tried is working at all. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

And just to make this a little more interesting, here's something I've made:

It started out as a really hideous vintage necklace that I got for 25 cents at a yard sale. I guess it's arguably still hideous if you aren't into the chunky grandma jewelry trend, but I am so I like it.

water color painting for my brother, done with Dr. Martens ink on water color paper.

We found this little koala teddy bear at an antique store when he was 5, and for the next couple years he'd carry it around everywhere. Its name was "mofse"...he totally just made that up out of nowhere.

So its his 20th birthday tomorrow, and hes forgot all about his little koala, "mofse".
...But not for long! I cant wait :)

Hullo everyone

Here is a picture of a Limp Wrist jacket I made. Limp Wrist are an awesome queer thrash band and on the cover of one of their records, a bloke in a jacket with 'Limp Wrist' on the back is getting the come-on from the band in a men's room. My friend Lee gave me a jacket so I got to work... the original is in fake fur, but I used chintz instead. Obviously.

i need some very creative suggestions for mole day, which is coming up on october 23.
basically, it can be ANY project involving a mole (the animal, the number, the..er..skin mole?, etc.)
food, posters, games, etc have been done in the past.
