I have here some ornaments I made a few years ago out of flour and salt, and then painted.

I left this in table format with the captions from my website, because it was way easier. I hope that doesn't make anyone's eyes sad.

My mom gave me these two great blazers she had from the early 90s, 80s, who knows. They are both wool, one is a cute houndstooth, and I really want to wear them. Except that they are way too big (wide and long) on me, and have shoulder pads and really broad shoulders. Does anyone have any idea how to find a pattern for altering them to actually fit me? I'd like a shorter, more tailored blazer out of them, if that's possible. I'm worried because I've never sewn such heavy-duty fabric, but I will try!

We had the boyfriend's little ones this past weekend, and, as it FINALLY got cold here in N. Texas, I felt the need to knit hats for them. I had picked up som Lion Brand boucle at a dollar store (ugh! I may have been overcharged even at a dollar/skein.) in the "Jelly Bean" colorway specifically to make something for them. After searching through my hat patterns I decided on this one and got started.

Mod Note.

It looks live we’ve all survived the holidays, more or less.

Back in early late November/ early December [profile] pmthreadsand I cleaned up the language in the rules to make them clearer. Because we’re a high traffic community, we realize that some of you may have missed our changes, which is why I’d like to ask you to take the time to look over the profile page if you haven’t seen it recently.

Pretty much everything has remained the same, except we’ve clarified our rules on watermarks/websites.

We still delete all messages that include references of Ebay/etsy auctions, selling journals, or on-line shops, even if the object being shown is not for sale. However, we will allow images with watermarks as long as they do not include a website address.

And thank you to the many craftgrrl members who have been prompt and polite when telling people about a rule they may have missed. Your help is invaluable.

Has anyone else attempted to make this? If you have, what were your results?

I used the 'cook' method that I found several places on the internet (1 1/2 C lint, 1 C water, 1/2 C flour, 2 drops oil - simmer on low heat) and I have to say...

ewwwwwwwwwwww...

Perhaps this only works is you are bald (no offense, my hubby is!)and do not have pets. I have long hair and live with an Australian Shed Hound. And even though I picked through my lint trying to find the least hairy bits, what I ended up with was something that looked and felt like I had pulled it out of a blocked drain. I'm not the least bit squeamish, but that was just icky.

There's a non-cook method that used white glue, but I'm guessing my results will be just as bad that way.

I guess I will have to find other things to do with my lint - any other suggestions?

Hello, you wonderful crafting comrads! My name is Brianne and I've been a member for a long time, I've just never had any reason to post. I have a question though.

I'm going to Chicago soon and need to make a super awesome scarf to match my new super awesome jacket super super quick. Is Knitting or Crochet faster? I'm proficient at both and the yarn is fairly forgiving. I've never made a scarf though and don't know how long I should expect to spend on it. Advice and pattern sites would be lovely.

I received a sewing machine for Christmas. I have experience with sewing, but not much. I have never actually followed a pattern before. But I am anxious to give it a shot!

I also have a baby due in February, so I would really love to make some sort of baby sling/carrier.

So I'm wondering if anyone has a link to a fairly easy baby sling pattern that they have used and like. Or perhaps if you have a book you could recommend?

Thanks!!

I'm actually kind of undecided on this bag. I'm not sure if I like or dislike it.

Any opinions? It looked a bazillion times cooler in my head. :)

At any rate, it was my first time working with vinyl, and there are two wooden dowels slipped in to the top of each side of the bag so it will keep its shape when carried. I even top stitched the flowery area around the bottom so it'd look all pretty. :) I put some detail in the cut out flower on the top as well. the Dots are all painted over with shimmery pink fabric paint. :)

Anyway, Read more... )

Any constructive Criticism? (PS the string on the strap is just kinda sitting there... didn't catch it on time. It's not attached to anything..

Anybody know what I could do with PILES of celeb gossip magazines? Preferably something I could use in my bedroom (like decoration) because I'm redoing it. I don't have a favorite celebrity or anything, so making a collage wouldn't really do much for me. I checked the memories and basically all they said was "send them to me", haha.

I want to start selling shirts and other little whatevers i might make.... esspecially once i get access to a sewing machine.  Does anyone here sell their work, and through what? Is Ebay the best way to go? What are your best sellers?

Is a duffle bag I made myself. Rather plain, but large and sturdy enough to get both my daughter's and my gym stuff in it for the Y!

One pic has a shapely model )
